    That's the state budget you dummy. Californians contribute more to federal revenue in proportion to what they get back than all but a handful of other (blue) states. That's why it's fair to say that CA subsidizes red states. Whether or not that's a good argument for secession is another story.

    There was significant corruption on both sides. The DNC shenanigans on one side and the fake news / Putin interference on the other. Now it's getting worse though. Conflicts of interest, alternative facts, open hostility toward the press... I predict at some point only sympathetic media outlets will be allowed in the press room and that's the definition of corruption. I expect next year USA will drop behind some middle east countries.

    FYI, Trump took office in Jan 2017. Obama was the president for all of 2016.

    The truth is that schizophrenics have been revered throughout history. Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad, Any weirdo who thinks God is telling them to kill their kid or build a boat is a prophet and dudes with actual vision like Alexander the Great have to take a back seat.     Apparently we need a new tutorial, so since 5 days ago, here's how it works.
    Take a look around the room. If any of the following is the case, it is unacceptable to make fun of that particular disability.
    * someone in the room has the disability
    * someone in the room you know has a close relative with the disability
    * You are in a room full of academics, liberals, or hollywood personalities
    * You are POTUS, or otherwise someone who will need to answer to the press
    Otherwise you may assume it's safe to proceed with your ridiculing.
    And for god's sake if you are posting anonymously on a forum website like /., please feel free to say whatever the fuck you want without self-censoring for political correctness.

    I didn't vote for the guy, but he made it to president so that alone deserves respect from every single American.

    Well maybe not going back on every campaign promise he ever made, before even starting his term, would be a good first step. The bar is pretty low at this point, but let's just take it from there.

    The hypothetical is, knowing the price difference, which do you choose in an emergency when your child's life is at stake.
    If you truly believe there is no chance the brand name is more effective, you might as well take the generic.
    But how will you feel, if your child dies, knowing that your cheapness may have cost his/her life?

    So you are willing to risk the generic not being good enough when the difference is $300 vs the life of your child?
    Just out of curiousity, what if I told you that 1 time in 10,000 the brand name will make the difference over the generic?
    If you still say no we will have established a monetary value for the life of your child.

    I mean, let me put this another way since someone modded me a troll. Maybe you believe that AGW is a hoax. That's par for the course these days on /., but to also believe that mass extinction isn't happening really goes against common sense. Maybe over-fishing or the loss of coral reefs isn't a concern for you because you don't eat a lot of fish. Still, there is a majority of the world's population that depend on the ocean for basic survival. The idea that current trends are sustainable is simply a scary one, and it's also uniquely American.
