No matter how nice or mean we are to Iran has no bearing on the fact that it's in their nation's best interests to wield nuclear weapons as a deterrent vs. US invasion. Obama has done pretty much what Bush was doing - fucking up in the Middle East because he doesn't grasp the very basic concepts of the rights of states to determine their own government. You can't just give someone a Democracy - it must be willfully EARNED. Iran's sovereign right to be a country run by zealous Muslim imams is tragic, but it's still their right to be Holocaust-denying jackasses.
nope, it's not that computers supplanted our need to read books. it's that there's only so much money in the family (or school) budget, and if you're shelling out $600-$1000 for a pc, you don't have that money available to spend on a bunch of books that you know are just going to get dusty and sit around waiting to become outdated.
obesity kills one hundred times as many people every year as osama bin laden did once. once.
mcdonald's is a bigger terrorist threat than china. china has learned that they don't need to invade us, just invite our corporations over to hand them technology and know how. the trade is that our companies profit from the hiring of communist slaves. seems like a sweet deal for the 1%.
all the government crackdowns on freedom, coupled with raids on freedom fighters like anonymous and wikileaks, means that these threats only serve as pleas for the government to suspend more of our rights. i don't think i'm down with that.
Did you (the jaded toddler) recall when Azure went down last week, taking all of Microsoft's clients' cloud systems with it? because of a Leap Day bug?
our non-cloud LAN infrastructure worked just fine, BTW. no need to outsource when local data sources provide more security, speed, and uptime.
when AT&T first started their unlimited data plans, 5gb was their limit. data caps are limits, and the definition of unlimited is without limit. so AT&T has been lying through marketing since day 1. recently a supreme court judge stated that consumers should expect hyperbole from the marketing they read, so one cannot bring charges against company's false claims. after giving corporations all the rights of citizens but not requiring any of the responsibilities, I would expect no less from the cabal of geniuses who decided that a state's arbitrary deadline for counting votes was more important than actually counting all the goddamned votes (bush v. gore, 2000). so basically, if you live in america, suck it up. SCOTUS has AT&T's back, not yours.
My daughter and I enjoyed Avatar, but it wasn't a great story. The visuals may have been cutting-edge, but I didn't find it any more appealing of a story than anything on the SyFy network.
Calling something Sci/Fi or Fantasy certainly brings with it a bunch of cultural baggage. Shouldn't Sci/Fi movies work harder to be good films, ones which resonate with viewers, rising above the ghetto of genre? Star Wars was a great film not because it was about spaceships, but because it told a larger tale of how a farmboy can grow up to achieve great things - that touches people across cultural divides. Great movies do that. Avatar, not so much.
if anonymous had any confidence whatsoever about the takedown, they'd be crowing about it. chances are, it's the chinese, perhaps attempting to mask the attack as something that anonymous would do.
a better reason to use wires is because it's faster and more secure. which is the argument they should use instead of phony-baloney unproven fears. But they're Catholic schools, so they're used to believing in the unknown and unbelievable. idiots.
are unions any more corrupt than corporations? i think not. and neither of them hold a candle to our corrupt government, which is in league with the corporations while falsely pretending to serve the people's interests.
No, don't threaten to stop selling the iPad in China. Threaten to stop MAKING the iPad in China. Now there's a threat that will get the Chinese courts/Government/Foxconn to listen.
Ronald Reagan was allowed to conveniently "forget" how he betrayed our country by telling Iran to hold US citizens hostage until after he was in office, and how he then sold arms to Iran to fund a secret and illegal war against the Contras, which employed US soldiers, and about which Congress was never notified. That seems a whole lot more worth jail time than what this chick did.
Apple will never make management and scripting work as well out of the box as Microsoft. They'll make their systems easy to do a few tasks on, but this isn't in their blood and with their focus on consumer electronic gadgets du jour, the Mac & MacOSX will be going away.
The Mac Pro is limited by Intel's release schedule. Since it uses the Xeon line, and not the Core i7 line, Apple is kind of stuck with whatever cpu's that Intel comes up with. If they were to release a new Mac Pro with Thunderbolt and USB3 on it (possibly due after IvyBridge), they'll probably sell a bunch due to pent-up demand.
gee it sucks that working and living conditions suck in china. but it's up to the chinese people to stand up to their oppressive government and oppressive employers.
Not sure if Future Music is making a US version anymore, but they did for a while and it sucked. Future Music UK & Computer Music UK are 2 of my favorite magazines next to Sound on Sound - and all 3 are UK publications. The articles are better than their US counterparts (Keyboard, Electronic Musician) and the tutorials are pretty handy. I now subscribe via iPad, which has a bunch of cons (can't read on my computer, can't back up to my computer, files deleted at random from my iPad) but the main pro is I don't have to live like an old man with stacks of old magazines cluttering up my apartment.
Any journalist worth his salt would have immediately responded to Mr. Houston, "If you want to be big like Google, you can't leave all your users' files unprotected for a day because one of your staff turned off the passwords."

and my attorney advised that a trial would be more expensive, so i should just settle

The moment when high fashion becomes the people we meet at Walmart, they've lost me.

suicide death at foxconn apple factories is LOWER than at foxconn factories for Dell, HP, and others the NYTimes reports.

the only way to enter a plane in the future is to do so naked, without any carry-on luggage.
