i seriously doubt you can fool mother earth during a 7 or 8 into believing that your building is flexible enough to straighten up 100%. once a slinky gets bent, it never works the same and it's practically impossible to fix it.
What exactly are Vivek Kundra's qualifications? He's a bozo with business interests IN India, so of course he wants us to close US IT facilities and offshore the work. Someone needs to bitchslap that jackass publicly, and unmask him for the worthless mouthbreathing piece of shit he is.
access to bestiality and child porn probably should be blocked. but the australian government also wants to ban sites that show small-breasted women, because they might be confused for kids. ummm, i'm not buying it. sounds like people in the AU government are a bunch of sickos.
great story. i was mocked all year for being the new kid in 8th grade, so towards the end of the year, i walked up to the biggest of the jerks and dumped a container of milk on his head in the middle of the cafeteria. he couldn't fight back because he was soaked; i was sent home for a week. but from then on they mocked me a bit more privately, and all the losers in the school thought i was pretty insane.
i learned a long time ago that mocking a bully in front of his peers may get you punched, but you then earn the respect of others for standing up to the jerk. and when i got big enough to fight back, nothing quite beats a strong punch to the nuts.
I'm considering getting an iPad to use with D&D. It would be neat to have an electronic character sheet + all the D&D references in electronic format. I still want to roll real physical dice, not have a computer throw random numbers around. Usually I roll crappy anyway which gives my characters a certain flavor. Yes I could bring my laptop but the battery life sucks and the screen gets in the way of seeing the miniatures on the table map. $500 is kind of a lot to spend just for D&D but if you add up all the crap I bought from Wizards last year, that adds up to well over $350 in books and subscription fees. And with the documentation in PDF format, it will be easier to search the content. I'll probably have to learn how to roll my own apps but I read that the iphone store has a client for filemaker - or was it bento? - so I'll probably start by developing in an app that I'm already familiar with.
i stopped trusting them as the paper of record after they failed to go after the supreme court for ruling that it's more important for florida's court to observe an arbitrary date than for florida to count all the votes in the election of 2000. to hell with the NYT, they have a reputation for being a "liberal paper" but they're just as greedy a corporation as all the others. good riddance, assholes.
btw, my company does not REQUIRE that i wear the company branded shirt, but they STRONGLY ENCOURAGE us to do so. but they don't pay for the shirts, and they cost ~$50 each. and i've never worked for a company that respected their employees less, offering $32k per year for a network engineer with LAN/WAN, microsoft server skills, etc.
it's also possible that middle class families can't afford drugs as well as poor folks who receive government assistance to buy the drugs.
or another option is that kids from poor backgrounds may have either a genetic disposition towards needing psychotropics, or their physical environment has stressors and other components (lead paint?) that make poor kids more susceptible to being psychotic.
i don't believe that there's one answer or a binary choice. there are a combination of variables, so more tests should be done with different sets of controls.
i'm ok with data usage fees if it puts AT&T out of business. or if by default i'm opted-out of receiving spam and ads i have no interest in that are embedded in web pages.
i can't believe it. australia is turning into a desert wasteland due to climate change, while their politicians are coming up with stupid plans to waste time and energy and money and human resources on "classifying" applications? they truly deserve the mad max world that's headed their way.
only informed citizens will be able to understand best the facts and expectations surrounding the trial they are participating in. i believe that juries should be sequestered so the media won't bother them, but they should be allowed to research all they want on the internet. some info will be true, and other info will be false, but it's not like lawyers are presenting the truth on trial -- they're producing their VERSION of the facts in order to influence the jury to decide in their favor.
if the assumption is that you're guilty and need to be proven innocent, like in france, then canada should go ahead and charge a tax on all automobiles because they could be used as getaway cars. And may as well tax chainsaws because they could be used as murder weapons.
in the 1980's, president bush instituted a tax on blank cassettes in america because it was assumed that all blank tapes were used to duplicate copyrighted material. what a moronic idea. the cassettes i bought were for my 4 track so i could record MYSELF writing MY OWN FUCKING MUSIC. and for mixdowns to give to my bandmates to lose. i have read we also have a similar tax on blank cd's, although most of them I use to back up MY OWN FUCKING DATA not some stupid commercial recording. Whatever, I'm sick of paying taxes on the assumption I'm a thief, and having that money go to idiots like madonna, michael jackson, and the RIAA fuckers.
china's greatest threat to itself is overpopulation, which puts their country at risk for a lack of important resources (potable water, food) and at a risk from rampant diseases (plague, bird flu, etc). china doesn't need to perform organ donations which prolong life. they instead need to start weeding down their population to a more manageable size.
Also I fear every.1 update to the MacOS as it seems to break the digidesign / m-audio drivers more often than not.
That said, the selection of applications and plugins under OSX and Windows is amazing, and I doubt I could find such a wide selection on a brand-new platform. for someone just recording a couple of songs and even mastering, bully for them if they can get linux to work. but for me, i really prefer an environment with Native Instruments' tools and software models of vintage gear as they have for protools.
I too am bugged that when Apple or Microsoft upgrade their OS, it breaks applications and some are lost forever. I used Vision and still would be using it if it were available. But when Apple moved to a different chipset and Opcode sold out to Gibson, all hope was lost. I've poured thousands of dollars over the past 20 years into hardware (serial MIDI interface anyone? how about a nubus digital audio interface?) and software that will never work in the future (Rebirth? tons of others I haven't seen for nearly 10 years)
why make Robonaut 2 bring drinks to male astronauts when there are female astronauts who could serve drinks? LOL

underskirt videos, ya big dummy!
you're confusing godaddy with register.com
we need to take the growing chinese threat to america a lot more seriously than we have in the past. huzzah to google and godaddy for "getting it"
my brother was able to use an app from my Palm Pilot using IR to unlock his Ford Taurus' doors back in 1998. Way to keep up with the times, Apple.

perhaps people who are depressed and lonely and bored look to the internet for ways to make themselves feel better. why should this be surprising?
Fuck China. How do we block the Chinese from getting into our webservers and browsers? enquiring minds want to know.

wearing a uniform = no respect and lower paid jobs
wearing a tie = respect (deserved or not) and higher paid jobs
he should have bought a Mac :-P

however, ipods are now used not just for playing music, but for playing back podcasts and as the hard disk for recording live audio. if i'm using my ipod to record my buddies playing D&D, why the fuck should a penny of my money go to the RIAA and MPAA? because _they're_ the evil fucking asspirates.
