Did you notice that you're not allowed to use the GPU in the PS3 under Linux? That's not Linux, that's crippleware. Sony can take their hypervisor and stick it up their ass.

There's two good reasons for that. Number one, they don't want PS3 Linux to serve as a cheap devkit. Number two, they want people programming with the SPUs as much as possible...in fact, the early PS3 designs had no GPU at all. You can do a lot of video and audio processing with the SPUs, if you take the time.

Not to mention, I'm sure the "720p" is compressed to shit just like all the movies on Xbox Live (and probably PSN for that matter). I guess this will make the Zune more attractive to a few people, but I'm not sold. I'd rather they took it more in the direction of a portable console, but I guess they are too chicken to fight Nintendo.

Tell that to Canada, which has legal both personal file sharing and strong intellectual property laws.

Most bands have only one drummer through the life of the band, because the drummer's style defines the band so much. If that drummer leaves the band, or spontaneously combusts, the band often drifts into obscurity.

Doctor Who? We're talking about a contrivance that was used to explain away actors leaving a show. Meanwhile, in reality, open source projects leave a lot of code that may or may not be well-documented. Changing project managers every few years strikes me as rather difficult, although I guess if you can maintain interest in the project throughout, it could still be a success. Still, it seems like a warning sign to me, kind of like when a movie has 5 screenwriters or 5 editors.

Christ on a drunken rampage, you have got to be kidding me. What is so bleeding hard to stand in a bank line all of at most 10-20 minutes for doing business at a bank that you have to be twiddling your thumbs or playing with the gravity controls on your iPhone to play a game?

It's not hard. It's not hard to stand on one foot the entire time, either. In fact, why do you have to be standing on two feet all the time? Can't you stand on one? It's a failure of your character if you don't stand on one foot while you're in line.

Must your attention be constantly filled with something on a 2 inch screen with pretty graphics?

Well, I'd hope that it was a little bigger than 2 inches (wink wink), but yes. It must be. Otherwise I might shank the wide-eyed sheep enthralled with the hum of the fluorescent lights who's standing in the line in front of me, and who knows? It might be you! And that'd be a darn shame, wouldn't it Baldelli?

Seeing as how this post is NOT exclusive to cell phone games, your point is moot.

Well, it *is* in an iPhone thread.

I use my DS regularly, and I would hate for portable versions of Final Fantasy and Castlevania to cease production in favor of 5-minute-fix games. And portable gaming is not restricted to waiting in lines or killing time on the bus; sometimes I enjoy relaxing on my patio with the DS, or lounging on the couch while my wife is watching TV.

Totally irrelevant. Are you worried about gaming too long on the DS because your battery life might run out? This is a serious concern on cell phones, especially with the already-crappy battery life of the iPhone.
