I am going to treat simple infections by means of personal hygiene and natural products and see how that works out.

But you do believe "natural medicine" without a second thought, because it doesn't have any scientific basis? I don't understand!

The possibility of ill intentions and plain old incompetence is very high.

With doctors or with unregulated "homeopathic medicine specialists"? One group is a lot more accountable than the other. I know which one I'd be more inclined to trust.

That's what's happening. I doubt the next generation consoles will even have an optical drive. It will all be download-only, and if you happen to live where broadband doesn't exist, you'll have to pay extra for an external DVD/Bluray drive and mail-order discs.

This will kill Gamestop and the used games market. And that is exactly what the companies want. They want you to "buy it at a high price" as a certain merchant from a certain survival horror game would say!

Did you have the component set to 720p or 1080i? A lot of times, the PS3 will set it back to 480i if you don't specify. Anyway, the most important thing is matching the native display of the device, and if it's a digital display (LCD, DLP) HDMI will almost always be better. This won't necessarily be the case for CRT or plasma TV. Proper calibration is essential...and remember, don't get covered with scorpions!

  14. Buffalo Tech Mac compatibility on SoHo NAS With Good Network Throughput? · · Score: 2, Informative

I have a Terastation 2 (by Buffalo) and I am plugged into 100Mbps ethernet at work, so I can't tell you about the throughput, but I can tell you that the Terastation Mac stuff is very half-assed. I couldn't get AFP/Appletalk to work at all and while SMB is rock solid for large files, it cannot handle large amounts of small files. It chokes on directories with huge amounts of files (not sure if that's a limitation of the Finder or the Terastation's fault, though). I had a user's backup program run amok and generate millions of tiny .tmp files over the course of about a month, and I was unable to delete them from OS X, even when waiting days. I had to use Windows Explorer, which was slow but eventually worked.

The built-in webpage used for administration is pretty terrible too. It works best with IE 6 on Windows, but even with that, sometimes the columns don't line up properly. If you misclick, you could end up changing the wrong shared folder.

On the plus side, the Terastation 2 is pretty cheap. I'd give it about a B minus in terms of what I need it to do.

I've played the same games on my TV with both a 360 and a PS3, and the PS3 is hands-down superior, though that's probably because the 360 I have access to (my buddy brings it over sometimes on weekends) isn't the Elite version, and thus doesn't have HDMI.

Component vs. HDMI shouldn't make a big difference unless you're talking 1080p, and if both consoles are pumping the native resolution to your display (720p if he has a 720p display, and 1080i if he has a 1080i display) you should be able to get a fairly accurate representation.
