What social network are now calling trolls is what used to make NNTP and/. interesting.
There was even more interesting stuff in comments because people could discuss.
Ok for not doxxing, personnal attacks & shit because it is not fair play.
But strong words, strong opinions sometimes backed with arguments, and (sigh) sometimes with fallacies are part of discussion. And it was enjoyable./. used to be fun. Make it fun again.
Well it has also be proven that money invested in university turns into less knowledge and GPB contribution than primary school. Early education has a default, it helps all the kids, not only the spoiled brats that can pay for university.
We have a "university" bubble and it doesn't seems to make the society any smarter. At least if/. is full of "educated" people.
Let them have passion they can socialize with. Music (a lot of math there like harmony), sports (a lot of math like ballistic trajectories), litterature (deciphering stupid babbling from pedantic writers), a chemistry kit (regular linear algebrae illustrated), being bored (we all need to be bored).
Math is a map that worth nothing if you can't relate the map to the territory. Let your kid explore the world and be happy without pressure.
Take les liaisons dangereuses of Chaderlos de Laclos. It is an exemple of poly semantics based on changed register of the "writers". But with a unique author. "Fake polyphonie" (the purpose of the contest is to not be detected doing so) At the other end of the spectrum "the 1001 tales" tries to unifie with a single tone stories that clearly do not match the same origins. (another failure)
I do guess that collective work with misdirections of fake semantics changes might do the trick with a peculiarly engineered language for that task: french
If you cannot fuzzy the tools, fuzzy the input by using carefuly crafted designed language to make this detection hard.
In my free software project as much as in my job I did not waited for SO to tell me about the moral right and putting a link to the point.

And IP only protects originality. The only persons who think that IP are not strict enough are Creative Commons and some freetarded artists thinking that Sampling should be forbidden. I hate CC, I hate freetarded, so I would usually go against their will.

http://perens.com/blog/2016/01... (article written just after the death of ian who had trouble in his love life and is depicted as a geek)
So this story says: girls are unwelcome in free software because THESE boys have a tendancy for lacking of social skills. And these boys MUST do the effort.
Turning it the right way bruce is outing the community for a heavy presence of trait that is called sociopathy, one of the trait associated with geeks and asperger/autists. Trait weirdly enough stupidly associated with ease of dealings with patterns, abstraction and manipulation of these.
Cow superpower supposed to make you a better coder (like ian? theo de raadt? Feynman? Einstein?).
Yes mr perens is saying: girls are not welcomed because of Aspergers/autists... which when USA finds it good for pharmacy company are ill, sometimes criminals when the police kill them and when insurance do not wish to pay the medi carebills totally fine.
I don't care if they are ills, criminals, normals, sociopaths. But I will just reason by the **absurd** to prove this guy is an ASS.
I say that in schools when it is the age of sexual awareness, these kids are sided out. Like in a good teen movie.
There are not fit to be good males. They are not alpha male, they are beta male.
Sexuality awareness for the unfit comes with being sided and ostracized. Weirdly enough austitstics/asperger's have another trait forgotten. Because they lack of this social skills they discriminate less than average. And the kookoos I have seen in FOSS used to herald the fundamental non discrimination as a core value of free software. Like a "safe place" to be. FOSS if he is right on the assumption that it is related to sociopathy, has been made a safe place for the handicaped of social unwritten signals... and seduction. A power leveler for girls in science, labs. The only stuff that helps break the glass ceiling.
Let me ask you about the chicken egg problem with a limited number of iterations. At one point : fingers can be pointed.
Women are lacking of solidarity and empathy when it comes to other teenagers. Maybe it is the fault of their education or parents. Maybe all girls are not bornt bitches. But, with 90% males aspergers/autists and a clear discrimination during early sex life and apparently a better tolerance than average for the aspies regarding differences why do you think women are being ostracized by adult geeks?
Mental illness is like any other differences when it result in harm through the eyes of society: it becomes a handicap.
The harm does not come from the difference, but from the social accepted behaviour and early in their life women are totally encouraged by their parents/friends to ostracized the unfit. Their parents/friends may pressure them to drop the weirdos like a kleenex. Now that geeks are wealthy they want a share of the cake and invade a place for the socially awkward that probably got a loadshit of rejections in their early days.. Boys that suffered of their sociopathy especially in their sex life. Geeks are victims. (still in the context I absurdly accept the postulate of the essay)
I would agree like in the essay something has to change, and that differences should be better accepted (all of them).
I am saying that bums that are often sick should not die on the streets, I am saying that poor people should not be kept in misery and brushed away from the economy, I am saying that coloured people should not be over represented in prisons, that muslims are as nice as puritans, jews, catholics, and protestants.
But as long as the society in which women are DEMOGRAPHICALLY a majority does not change their views towards minorities it is unfair to wish to open a safe haven for a minority of people that suffered discrimination and are probably still healing.
We may improve the situation for the next kids in school, but leave the one that have been burnt heal in their
And the problem is that "making" a correct implementation is where all the hard work is and there is no guidelines.
OAuth is an overly complex framework built upon unsecure fundations (the web).
Security is expensive. The real identity check should be in the real world, and there should be human checking and validating.
Security should not be made 100% in the same plan as communication and THAT is the weakness of all security making MITM so easy.
You can even have trusted CA x509 top of the security without REAL checks.
Computer security is a SCAM.
And now computers can break passwords that human can remember, the secrets are not possibly in the only safe place possible which is a brain.
Over exposure of personnal data (birth, relationship) makes that you hardly have any secrets any way.
The future is to build an internet without security. It will mean the end of e-commerce, ads powered contents...
You will have your library/swimming pools openings, news that can sustain without ads, university papers, public domain data; administrative forms to print and addresses of administrations, quake servers, BBS, technical sheets.
The serious people in business could drop security and just have human pick a phone number, validate that customers are who they pretend to be and have all the "business data" being given on another plane (coursier, phone, banks) according to the cost/benefits and if they store credentials, they can use totally isolated networks internal to their buildings and use coursier/post to send hard drives with physical seals on them.
I crave for the future boring web that is useful again with 1Kb web pages.
Twice in my life my GPL/BSD code has been hijacked by developers.
Not MS developers.
FSF enthousiasts.
Once for the CL5480 multihead driver that never was released in 2000 to be used in display wall.
The guy was a FSF enthusiast and this money helped him build the "biggest free software cooperative" in France.
But the end justify the means. It was integrated in a proprietary product and the code like with GNU ADA was availalble to the people not knowing to ask for it.
This year by someone closed to me, that is a debian packager.
He made a move to ask for R&D credit based on my code made on my free time with a BSD license while fighting for all the technical choices I made that made the solution works.
I am sick of the FSF zealots, they can go fuck themselves. There are the worst enemies of the developers.
And lastly to voice my concerns with this, in my early days I tried to raise the awareness on the topic... I directed a topic in FSM in France the "free software beyond the licenses".
Yet again, for being unnice to FSF and FSF zealots I was blacklisted... My topic given without reference of our names (I was not alone) to some libertarian crappy opportunists turning the topic in a joke with no respects for my moral rights.

If this traffic is only made of android/iphone devices that are lock in IPv6 thanks to the 4G? what about residential traffic? Can people access 100% of the actual internet space without problem?
I am sorry to doubt any figures (especially the one from google who is a stake holder of IPv6 deployment) that have no methodology indicating how they measure. This 10% is like a local measure of temperature claiming to be global.
It is like the stupid so called scientific claiming the earth is warming and unable to say what is the "temperature of the earth".
Species (plants (hop), animals, insects) migrating all around the world since 10 years to colder places though is a simple measure that everyone can understand and observe by themselves.
Quoting one source, from one stake holder of IPv6 is like asking the BLU to give you the stats of unemployment in the USA.
Does anyone have some figures about: - something that can correlate this claim? - a graph with the AS top 20 IPv6% between them? - are we talking about specific devices (like android locked in 4G networks)? - what is this traffic made off? (HTTP, mail,...)....
Some figures are like bikinis ; they tend to show all, but mask the essential.
I have experienced first hand 2 things: - ASD/Aspies are strongly attached to the "radical non discrimination" related to the 4 freedom of free software, and they are so clueless about social stuff that they can ignore ostracisms done towards some communities; - a minority of women even when educated tends to react spontaneously, irrationally, strongly negatively to ASD/aspies
If my experience reflects a trend, I guess maybe educating some women in not bullying nerds/geeks maybe a good idea.
And yes you are right. From my first encounter, and for having directed talks in FOSS meetings, for having known the member of the community first hand, this community has more freaks than the "normal" development community. I even dare blame the wrong actual direction of linux and FOSS to the slow takeover of the well socially integrated community.
I think the problem lies in how our society accept or not the differences. Political correctness is NOT accepting the differences, it is making them disappear in a convenient negationism.
I have been working with a debian developer. They do like crappy code as long as "it does the job".
We were reading UDP datagram (SIP stuff) 1 byte at a time because the debian developer thought expect was bad and was unable to figure any decent way of parsing newlines.
We were having a best case of 15ms for parsing 1500 bytes, and a worst case of 20 seconds (yes do 1500 read(buff, 1) that generates 1500 system calls to be fast, context switch are SOOOOO cheap) . I was doing VoIP... in 10 seconds you normally expect your communication to be working. He really was pissed when I began showing the distribution graph of how long parsing 1.5Kb would take. I still wonder if I was fired for this graph.
Anyway, it was the last push that helped me move to a BSD system, and I am glad about it, now I am looking for a job.
Never again I work with debian developers. They are the worst free softwares fucktarded I ever had to deal with, full of principles and ideology and totally clueless about computer science or anything close to business.
You have 3 keyboards, 2 mice, 2 sound cards, 3 drives we don't know how to call,
And I look, in fact I just have a mouse and a keyboard, that compared to PS/2 (I used to play ranked CTF in urban terror) ARE SO SLOW!!!!!
Remove this bus, remove this lag, I want a computer with 4 cores at 3 Ghz to stop having 200ms ground lag because of all the bloatwares like USB, HDMI...
I want moar speed... I want stuff that works, not wireless shits that goes out of juice in a middle of a competition because you use them.
Even though I do like your comment, I am not agreeing.
1) little technical point:
hg is sometimes saner than git and has bridge to git. And their is the awesome "hg init" from joel spolsky http://hginit.com/
2) on the idea I agree with
For the rest of your comment, it reminds me of the hell of C++ written by former fortran coders or python written by former PHP devs....
If you code in a language you have to think in this language.
3) Where I slightly disagree
Python is 49 core keywords and fast to learn... I guess if these are skilled data coders and this it is the core of the business of their company, it would cost lest to give them a hell of an advanded python formation tailored on their previous background....
4) Where I strongly disagree
4.1 technic still I do make event driven python for a living. I made my own framework based on zero queue message passing (stuff like pyzmq, nano msg), and circus and performance are good. And it works. As soon as my boss leave me time to work back on my free projects (so to say never to be soon) I can really prove that I can recode zabbix and a lot of bloatware around us in pure python without the need for STM or asynchio or a JIT in the core. Pay me a few weeks and I will show you python can kickass in asynchronuous pipelining and event based architecture. I will even show you the harm resulting at the nanoseconds level of non monotonic clock in python 2 by default.
4.2 as a human
I think this idea of throwing away coders because they are outdated is disgusting.
Men and women deserve to be treated a little bit better than outdated mechanical tools.
Tools costs less than acquiring knowledge. If these men and women are paid, it is because people are making benefits on knowledge that outside of their business might be useless.
By specializing you might lose market value... Who needs the only guy telecommuting as a "data oriented labView specialist" in Paris (Texas)? On the other hand the more the worker specializes the more the company earn on its market.
So asymetrically, what makes the increasing value of a worker for a company put the worker at more risks on the market when layed down. As a result, I thnik continuous formation ought to be a granted right for any workers (coders, journalists, lawyers, doctors, drivers). Why? You prefer a doctor that heal you with 1960 stuffs or 2015? A construction worker that ignores the update in regulations, security, technics? A public worker/lawyer/judge that is not updated on changes in law?...
Plus we both know that Knowledge Management is not in database, it is in craftsmanship. If their is a transition to be made, (company investing in new tech because of limitations or opexes), their will be a continuity of knowledge that will have to ensured.
But their is for the company an harm to trade skilled workers for knowledgeable workers. Business knowledge is harder to get than tools language.
For the same NASA prefers to teach PhD to fly planes rather than learn pilots fundamental physics.
I remember waiting for this machine so bad... that was announced to be the PC killer a quarter of a century ago
I thought ARM was dead.
Now the "laptop ARM"...
What can go wrong?
Devs only think synchronuous hence Intel (making a lot of energy waste helping the process).
ARM is not a bad CPU, but I guess people will be suprised because they will feel "slow, laggy" or weirdly behaving at high loads... or not smoothly transitioning.
I guess not as much effort has been put than the 1000th man * years for C compiler optimizations, and programming habits from CISC may not yield good results. I am pessimistic.
We used to say that if people cannot work with a predictable amount of memory they should die and software will be buggy.
The old generation built pacemakers, probes to the universe with language that are crude and technologies that have less CPU power and memory than your printer.
And then came the generation with C/C++/python/perl/ruby/java/js.... saying let's do dynamic allocation without control and imagine that resources are always under-allocated (ram, cpu, bandwidth)... We said, they will crash.
And then decades later, you have your new generation of noobs that are gonna destroy your industry like older noobs destroyed another one and you want anyone to commiserate?
Burn all the noobs. Recognize malloc is wrong, fortran is too expressive, lisp is for teachers, the cloud is a clown, and then maybe I will cry a tear. But for now, I just wish there was a faint of a tinge of a tad of a percent your fears were true.
A stuff for measuring resistivity in a cavity that was runing OS9000 which results I would import using kermit protocol. The programming also involved RS232, OS2, and a forth for manipulating a GPIB data bus called asyst... in the year 2000 in a lab that was famous in research.
Needless to say I think fortran 77 bleeding edge technology ever since.
Basically they got federal funding for developing sociogram enabling techs.
Let's be nice and say it was done by stealth VC notoriously linked to CIA and they were not aware of it. (the first social network (orkut from google) had its DNS served by In-Q-tel).
Money is about trusting (fiduceo = I believe/trust).
And now, after they took the money (which are subsidiaries as if USA was a communist country planning economy), built a monopoly based on these technologies (made even more money), they also want to be paid for the loss of money due to the loss of trust.
Much more important to make kids productive for their future professional life and offload the costs of formation from companies.
What education is good for anyway?
Socializing, diminishing prejudice, critical thinking...
Who needs that?
Let's eradicate trolls at the kindergarten by learning them to think correctly that their destiny is solely to be future workers.

hg is sometimes saner than git and has bridge to git.
4.1 technic still
I do make event driven python for a living.
Well, I am old.
We used to say that if people cannot work with a predictable amount of memory they should die and software will be buggy.
The old generation built pacemakers, probes to the universe with language that are crude and technologies that have less CPU power and memory than your printer.
And then came the generation with C/C++/python/perl/ruby/java/js .... saying let's do dynamic allocation without control and imagine that resources are always under-allocated (ram, cpu, bandwidth)...
Alas, they are not. And I am sad.
A stuff for measuring resistivity in a cavity that was runing OS9000 which results I would import using kermit protocol. The programming also involved RS232, OS2, and a forth for manipulating a GPIB data bus called asyst ... in the year 2000 in a lab that was famous in research.
Needless to say I think fortran 77 bleeding edge technology ever since.
Well, why be out raged? This a pseudoscience like another one.

They already do teach economy and psychology? Why not homeopathy?
Basically they got federal funding for developing sociogram enabling techs.
Let's be nice and say it was done by stealth VC notoriously linked to CIA and they were not aware of it. (the first social network (orkut from google) had its DNS served by In-Q-tel).
Money is about trusting (fiduceo = I believe/trust).
And now, after they took the money (which are subsidiaries as if USA was a communist country planning economy), built a monopoly based on these technologies (made even more money), they also want to be paid for the loss of money due to the loss of trust.
Shame does not exists?
