You had a lot of good points, but lost most of them in the assumption that we are all American. There are other parts of the world you know. Your American-centered view is disheartening.
I agree that it's pro-muslim propaganda, but I disagree that intelligent people don't need this.
Even intelligent people start to feel annoyance/hatred towards a group that they feel is being unreasonable. Having a decent pro-muslim propaganda is very much needed at the moment for all classes. Last thing we want now is a religous war.
Btw, I haven't seen much of this propoganda in the (left) newspapers, and I read the Guardian and the Indendant every day.
The statement was released this morning after Mr Blair spoke by phone to his Danish counterpart.
"We understand the offence caused by the cartoons depicting the prophet and of course regret that this has happened. Such things help no one," Mr Blair's spokesman said. "It is always sensible for freedom of expression to be exercised with respect for religious belief. But nothing can justify the violence aimed at European embassies or at the country of Denmark.
"The attacks on the citizens of Denmark and the people of other European countries are completely unacceptable, as is the behaviour of some of the demonstrators in London over the last few days.
"We also strongly welcome the statements of Muslim leaders here who are themselves tackling the extremists who abuse their community's good name."
This hardly fits what you say about Blair. Please give links to back up your side. It seems that Blair has, once again, given an intelligent statement about the situation.
Wow, I read this article hoping to learn something good about Islam. I flick to the comments and see your comment and now so horrified by it all.
It's horrible when you realise slowly you are becomming more intollerant.

That seems to be a pretty big assumption. One that goes against the evidence too.
> Also, nobody's gonna attack you or your family because you post on slashdot. You stupid little bedwetting jackass.
I'm sure the danish cartoonist wasn't expecting a $16,500,000 price put on his either. For that matter have you even been following the reasons why he drew the cartoons in the first place?
If it would have made no difference to MS whether companies also sold non-MS machines, then why would MS put such a condition? You can't have it both ways.
Also this is about opening up the file formats. That seems to be in the interests of increasing competition.
Wow, as a developer I can say that you are seriously out of touch with the developer base.
However I do blame 'us' for that for giving that image.
These things do take time *sigh*, but I can assure you that we are making large strides.
Examples between gnome and kde:
* Creation of freedesktop.org and consequent specifications * Sharing of mimetype lists (done) * Sharing of sound system (being heavily worked on. Arts has already been dropped in the kde4 code base. Will be completed for kde4) * Making GTK and KDE look similiar on the desktop (always ongoing. Mostly up to distributions. A lot of backend work has been done. Although this is difficult due to different ideas and directions) * Sharing of messenging buses. (Will be done for kde4. dcop has already been dropped in kde4 code base. Switching to dbus) * Unifying menu code, services, autostart etc (done)
There's a lot of smaller integration things going on (sharing of addressbook information etc that is ongoing)
The gcc faq covers this. Internal compiler error when compiling the kernel almost always means there's something wrong with your computer. In fact it's considered a great way to stress test new memory/motherboard/cpu etc
> Yes, RIMM would have eventually won; and yes, NTP is a bunch of mafia scum - but it's not RIMM's fight to fight.
So who's fight is it? You have no idea how much I look down on and despise people like you. Get a goddam backbone you pussy and fight for what you believe in, not what your wallet tells you.
Yes. After the collapse of the USSR, a lot of the scientists from there were employed to work in NASA to prevent them from working on nuclear weapons in other countries.
It's hard to google for such things, but the first link is:
I'm not particularly impressed. Your best example of RMS trying to force people is when he asked Linus to consider GPL3 ? Even if he was heavy handed and rude in the way he did it, all you are showing is that he's lacks any grace. He's still not forcing anyway. And btw, Linus lacks grace as well. It's a trait of being geek I think:)
Actually it seems that it's the rest of the world that is ignorant about other cultures. But of course without looking at an actual study we are both sprouting our own feelings. But it seems an illogical step that not knowing the language means you don't understand the culture. There are a lot of cultures in this world, and very few people know a language from each of the major cultures.
Or we don't want to waste our time doing so. What's the point in spending a large amount of time learning a second language when I could be spending that time learn science, math or anything else. It's the rest of the world that is stupid for being proud of wasting their time learning multiple languages. So many countries have a language which only they speak, and then everyone has to learn one (or more!) other languages to talk to everyone else. What's the point? Adopt a global language (english, spanish, esparento etc). At least then there would only be a handful of languages.
Wait you're complaning that his license reflects his views?!?! SHOCK HORROR!
You whole post is nonsense.
* You don't like blind followers of X (well who says they do like blind followers of anything?) * RMS lacks compramize(sic) - So he sticks to his principles. * He puts his views in his license... duh * "I tend to follow the notion that it is up to the developer to decide which license to use" - duh again - who said that we should force someone who writes new code to chose a particular license?

I find it amazing how ignorant a lot of chinese are about their own country.

How can you guys defend a government where stuff like this goes on:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti
(If you don't like washingtonpost, google. There's lots of outlets running the story).
Hmm, you need better friends and a new fiance. Co-workers you'll just have to live with.
You make it sound like a bad thing. Give a reason why it's bad, as the good reasons you've already given.

Heh, speaking of Japanese, I want a Japanese toilet. Have you seen those babies? Sweeeet.
Can we please not mix up commercial with proprietary. It's really not that hard if you really concentrate :P

That might work against him, and I would say check with a lawyer first. They might say he was blackmailing him or something.

The large number of stupid patents they have, such as one click shopping patent.
One complaint was that any future extensions that MS make weren't necessarily open as well. So MS can 'extend' and break it. Was this addressed too?
Yes. After the collapse of the USSR, a lot of the scientists from there were employed to work in NASA to prevent them from working on nuclear weapons in other countries.

Which in the first paragraph explains it better than I can.
How arrogant and self righteous you come across. Let's just hope you didn't mean to sound in the way that you did.
Hmm, my opinion of mormonism just went up :)

No, you are the one who should reread. His point was that the Muslims further their own stereotype far more than we further their stereotype.
