    I don't think this is true. No, I'm not an attorney but it would certainly fall under Fair Use. They can't legally prevent you from mentioning a brand name in an article. If it was truly defamatory, perhaps...but that would be a matter for the courts to decide, no?

    IANAL but I'm pretty sure you're allowed to mention brand names in reviews and articles. They may not like it but I don't think there is anything they can really do about it.

    I feel the same way, it's appalling that half the people replying are casually stating that they'd have "no problem" killing people. People who express those kinds of sentiments are the LAST people you'd want to have the power of life and death, ESPECIALLY if it's being done remotely.

    Yep, I can't remember any place I've been in the last few years that didn't have some crap blasting through their $5 speakers.

    Jimmy Johns sub or whatever has the music so loud you literally have to shout to order food. We got sick of that shit real fast and left before the food came. It was just too damn loud, and the music was some mindless pop-horsecrap.

    Seriously, restaurant owners, TURN THAT SHIT DOWN. It's background music, not a f*cking mosh pit.

    I guess I'm a Luddite...my phone does not have location services. (If it did, I'm not sure I'd turn them on.)

    I don't browse the web on my phone or watch movies or play games. I use it to a) make calls, and b) take calls.

    Yes, I too am sick of the whole "We have an app for that!" crap. I'd rather use a browser any day and I don't want to load 500 crap-apps on my phone for something a browser does perfectly well.

    Same here...no social media at all. No Facebook, no Linkedin, no Pinterest, Twitter, etc etc etc. I don't use any of it now and I don't intend to in the future. I am SO glad I never started a Facebook account.

    I'd bet a million dollars that this isn't the first crash caused by this, or something similar (damaged configuration settings file, mis-matched file versions, etc). Great- another thing to worry about when flying. :(

    Yep, PHP makes things simple, and there's an excellent selection of modules that can be loaded for more unusual requirements. When I saw all the junk that was required to use a typical RoR app, I laughed and closed the page.

    Actually, you're mistaken. I understand exactly what I need to do to get the results I want, and doing it in PHP earned me a nice living. Using PHP (the LAMP stack, really) has allowed me to work for myself, create businesses, earn money, and live pretty well. I have a hard time understanding what you don't like about that, unless it's based in jealousy. If you don't like PHP, don't use it. You're welcome to use whatever programming language you like without fear of me telling you why you're "wrong".

    Yes, there are some weird/frustrating/awful things about PHP, but I love it- it's made me a ton of money as an independent site owner/operator and hasn't cost me anything.
