    conductor electronics, or even electronic circuit boards, but aren't all the conventional production methods essentially printing albeit with a mask (like a printed t-shirt), ot even mentioning epitaxy here. Usually there's an etching step in there too, but so too with "3d printing" and acetone vapor.

    To be fair, everyone in Germany in those days was a nazi. I've even known a few hitler youths. It was just the in thing at the time. An example of groupthink that seems so prevalent today.

    I hate having 4-5 scroll bars on the screen at one time and having to try to figure out which one I need to move to center the text I'm interested in.

    In the 1980's I coined the term cosmetic programming .

    I grew up programming my atari computer to do lots of cool things, but all inputs were hard coded into the source code. Then when I took a college course, I learned that most software was less about doing cool things than making it look pretty and always got dinged for this.

    Efficiency doesn't matter much for utility-scale solar, just levelized cost per kWh.

    That's kinda my point (I have solar and efficiency was not even considered during the purchase). And solar panel prices are so low now that for most cases. it's more economical to buy 30% more panels than to pay extra to get 30% more out of the ones you have. Of course space applications is its own special beast.

    What efficiency does PV have to reach to be viable? (Efficiency is usually defined as an output/input ratio and solar input is around 1kw/m^2).

    Solar panels at $0.32/wp (PDF) retail are rated at 14.5% efficient.

    Chill out. There's no such thing as free will either. They have as much control over their lives as you have over yours (and your rant against them). Fate was settled at the big bang.

    It's not a judgement against you or them, but more of a classification of someone who is judgemental.
