Why buy this, go through whatever trouble it may or may not be to set up, when Windows does nicely?

For me this is easy, I make part of my living writing Visual Basic programs, mostly front ends to various SQL databases. If I want to work at home, this means I have to have at least one system set aside with Windows installed or I have to dual boot. Since I am entirly a Linux User at home, this system is useless to me except for that single purpose. If I were dual booting, the Windows partition would be wasted HDD space except for that single purpose. With Lindows I can do my work on my main machine and retire that old 233 in the corner.

There is a big difference between being a "Director of IT" in a 10 person office with 1 server and a real "Director of IT" who has 40 or 50 Techs under him, providing service for 5000 users, a million dollar budget and has the CEO breathing down his back. When I was a college student, I was upset that my "Student Activity Fee" was being given to the Campus Crusaders, Young Republicans, the Gun Club, at least one anti-abortion group and more Bible study groups then I can count, let alone name. As a taxpayer I do not want to pay for Reagan's failed "War on Drugs" nor do I want to pay for Bush's "War on Terrorism", I have little choice. And those choices are narrowing especially in the face of being called Anti-American for daring to use my Constitutional Rights of Dissent and Free Speech.

If you listen to them objectively for any length of time you will see they have a heavy conservative bias. I am not saying CNN or MSNBC are any better, they are not. Only that Fox is not fair and unbiased and they are openly condescending to anyone who does not agree with them.

You are right, if you are being a good little consumer and behaving as the government wants you too, they will not care about you. They will let you watch TV, walk the dog, pay taxes and die and that life may suit you just fine. However, I would prefer my children and grandchildren to be brought up in a free and just society, not one were practicing ones constitutional right to free speech and disagreeing with the government will get you marked UnAmerican and a Terrorist Sympathizer.
