I have been constantly trying to install this, and the installer always crashes... I wish they would just use a.dmg. I'm not smart enough to build this from source...
just buy an external firewire dvd burner... the combo drive burns cds faster, and most people will rarely burn dvd's on the road. also you get the benefit of having 2 drives (quicker cd/dvd copying)
"...and the ones they got were 5gb, it can probably be inferred that they are old."
Except you made too big a leap... the article says that the iPods had 5GB of music on it... not that it was a 5GB iPod... The picture however looks like an older one... Could still be 10 or 20GB
Which other computer did you get? To invest 3000 bucks on a eMac and iPod, there would have to be another computer there... or 2 more iPods, or something... or did you get some stuff that wasn't Apple hardware in your order?
Every time something like this happens Slashdot is filled with arm chair lawyers. I might agree with you, but did you actually read the comic? I thought it was pretty funny, but I can also see why they wanted to get rid of it. And don't give me crap about little girls not reading Penny Arcade.
Also, how come there are 18 posts moded up to "5 Interesting" that say... "Wah wahh wahh... fair use... wah wahh" ? 17 of them should be moded "Redundant"
Right, except Photoshop for PC and for Mac are not nearly-identical software. One is written for PC, one for Mac. Two separate sets of code sold under the same name
I have an iBook 700 with the old mobility Radeon (16MB VRAM) It has a combo drive, and I love it, but I wonder why there is no option to get just a DVD drive. Then you could watch DVD's on the road, and buy an extrememly fast Firewire external CD burner for when you are at home...

It works great on my 12" PB... The only question I have is does this reduce the life of the drive? I bet it doesnt though.
:-P
Now if someone would write a firmware update that turned on the keyboard backlighting
(2) Form Spell Check
Is not one of Omniweb's unique features... (at least all the forms can be spell checked for ME in Safari)
all I know is it was at -1 when I read it
"Are we talking clustering here?"
Hmm... lets do a little math... 260 X serves...
How many subs do you think we have????

it was modded up just after my post
why did this get modded down? just because it was anonymous? It IS a good point
who will pay for the hearing aids?

My iBook with a Mobility Radeon could be forced to allow extended desktop through open firmware. I bet the same thing is possible in the eMac
The reason it stayed on the grey screen is because it was doing disk checks and stuff... that wasn't a bunch of kernel panics "every other boot"

What Graphics card does your iBook have? Most likely a Mobility Radeon 16MB
These have MR 7500 32MB Much better QE performance
What size L2 Cache? some of the 600MHz models had 256K, these have 512.
You also get a G3fx (v2.2?) instead of a G3cxe (or 745/755 v 3.1).
Also, if Panther does exclude some machines, this one probably won't be excluded (but it might, don't quote me)
But, I really like my Powerbook 12"
I won't even mention that it runs fine on my G4 867 Powerbook... must be the 67 extra MHz ;-)

Yep, works fine with my iBook

The low end PowerBook comes with 256 MB, The High end with 512...
You can also double your RAM for $40
There is no Powerbook that has only 128MB.
