Maybe that developer just didn't know how to use DW.. I use it every single day in my job and it works excellent. You can turn off just about any feature that gets in the way(like code rewriting, formatting, etcc) and it's fast as hell. Has support for groups, remote updates (ala ftp). It does everything. And for the real programming, all you need to do is fire up your favorite GUI programming editor and you're set

You should assume a tool is bad because of your own incompentence to use it. I use GUI tools all day, and some are extreamly good at building user interfaces by simply "dragging and dropping". I guarantee that if you spent even a fraction of the time learning a GUI tool that you spent learning all your CLI tools, then you might actually get something out of it. Personally I am much more productive using GUI tools. For example, a user interface for even a very simple application written in something like java, can be well over 2000 lines of code. Why in the hell would want to write all that out by hand? It's just dumb. Spend the time to learn the tool. That's all there is to it.

If I need to develop a quick prototype for a website, why the hell would I do it in vi, when I can click on a few menu items and have an editor write all the code for me. Thanks for the report. I now have much deeper and broader understanding of the difference between CLI and GUI. I personally think thatm I'll stick with the GUI though, because that can always be scripted with macros. Take outlook for example, it has one of the most powerfull macrolanguage of any application. That think can basically control every aspect of the comp. It's truely a work of art.
