It all depends on the theme and on the windowmanager. You can make all your applications look as if it were Win9x apps, or Beos apps, or whatever you call "eye-candy".
It has nothing to do with GTK+ itself.
...but current versions of APT do no longer work on Debian GNU/hurd because the maintainer does not want to apply some patches.
That's the downside of opensource programs which are lead by 1 person (like the Linux kernel), and not a group (like GNU Compiler Collection GCC).
> Please read Eric Raymond's extremely accurate assesment of Linus' formal engineering skills. As good as he is, Linus is retarding Linux's development.
Yes, you're right. So let's all use the Hurd. Debian has made a pretty usable distribution out of it.
"TNG stands for 'The Next Generation'. At the time of writing, Samba TNG will never officially be released. It will be merged into the Stable Samba branch, which will become Samba 3. Samba TNG is not recommended for production use, but once it is working, you shouldn't see too many stability problems. "
So it's not a fork, it will become Samba 3.0 eventually.
Honda has this will introduce the first car with this sort of technique in 2001. It will be the all new Honda Civic, and the technology is called VTECi (Intelligent Variable Timing Electronically Controlled). Honda introduced the first concept (VTEC) of this on the '89 NSX, and in '91 for the mass market. So nothing really new here!
If you don't like it, you can always disable it. I think that running suid root binaries (even if you have the source) is a scary thought.
And if we had things like KGI, it would be easier for hardware manufactuars to write drivers. The XFree people could then fully concentrate on the 'real' X-Windows stuff.
A few months ago, a games company approached me and asked me if i could do a linux port of their upcoming game. I agreed, not knowing which trouble I got myself into:). Lucky for me, the game release date is November 1999 (for both the win32 and the Linux version). So I created a project which defines a standard linux base (both hardware and software) for games in Linux, in the hope some distributions someday will comply to this.

You're the only one, and the rest of us runs XF4 :)

Is this license DFSG compliant? Will it prevent itself from inclusion in Main?

Who's the crack smoker?
There are no games in the samples folder of the DirectX SDK (In both versions 7a and 8 RC0)..
Okay, troll me all the way you want.
But it's the truth.
Maybe if thay released the ReiserFS under the GPL license, it would be possible.
Now if only the Kernel guys would start using CVS, my life would be complete :)

Read the date on that page: It says March 10th.. I'm sure we've all already seen that page..

You really think you're the only one on the planet, don't you?
Why not?

Just my thought...
Dual P2-350 on asus p2b-ds.... :)
Maybe the SMP patches weren't that good
Haven't checked the uniproc version yet.
It feels good to finally have a development branche again. Can't wait to see KGI in the kernel. Yes, hardware drivers belong in the kernel.
Voodoo 2 can't do windowed.. That's probably why it sucks so much :)
Yes
Yeah... but drivers don't belong in userspace (X) but in kernelspace (KGI)
KGI!
Only with KGI there will someday be games for Linux.
no, because both companies do not provide the information needed to make drivers.
who wants to have a sb live and a voodoo 3 when running linux anyway?
agree... but dev versions are most fun :)
Can't wait until 2.3.xx ... Think of all the cool stuff 2.3.xx is going to bring us. I hope KGI and ALSA will be part of this...
just come to amsterdam. i have a room left.
