  1. Re:Lies About Electric Cars on Ars Reviews Honda Insight · · Score: 1

Electric cars are not all they are cracked up to be, for the most part they may seem to run cleaner to the end user but assuming that you plug them in somewhere there is more than likely a smoke stack behind them, this is for a very simple reason, petrolium is a inexpensive source of energy with a fairly low long term cost as well as intial, not to mention that it is already the primary power production mehtod in most countries, (i think that france may is one of the few that have alternative power for their primary source, and they use nuclear a better solution, not really). Photovoltaics are to resource intensive and not efficent enough to meet our power requirements, we would need to cover a good portion of the earth with them to even produce a fraction of the electricity we need. Wind and thermal power sources are very attractive but they have geographical limitations, as well as being extremely expensive and having their own environmental drawbacks.

to me it seems methonal, or some other ethonal is the most attractive energy source, but the current method of production from corns and grains really needs to be shifted over to production from waste products.

The main drawback for electric cars for me is that they use batteries, which are not only very toxic but have a limited life span and their efficeny is drastically impacted by operating temperture, could you imagine trying to drive an electric car throught ariziona or alaska? not very practical...

plus getting in an accident in an electric car could be hazard is, because of weight saving measures as well as the treat of being covered in really happy battery acid, which really helps the trees as well...

so what i mean to say here is that hybrids are a very good idea, but we need to choose energies that are better than gasoline, not just not gasoline, and we really need to look at a better way of storing the energy so that it is practical to a driver...

This is ridiculous, why should schools get all of this bandwith? i mean isnt the idea of the internet that everyone has bandwith? why not work on solutions that provide everyone with the bandwith they need rather than hording it from the masses?

From what i can tell, I2 is basiclly a new interent started with current technology that is kept out of the "unclean masses". who should decide if i get more bandwith?

if they bill me for it(the whole silly tax dollar thing) then shouldn't i have a say?

You'll need a CPU that can get by w/o a heatsink

not really, you could use some material that was termally conductive protrude from inside the case, have it well sealed, and just put huge heat sinks on the out side...assuming fans would not hold up to the elements...

  6. RE: Vektor on Why Kids Kill · · Score: 1

ok this is a stupid post. The fact will remain that the united states government does not really recognize people under the age of 18 as actual citizens. That is because they are under the charge of their parents/legal guardian.

This does not mean that they should be suspended in some orwellian society until the day they become full fledged "adults". Yeah discipline is important but it is not some magic ingredient that will singlularly prepare you for life.

As a parent you should realize that there may come a time when you need to violate your childs privacy, this should not be the norm only the responce to extreme situations.

Being a good parent involves a large amount of trust, invading your childs privacy will destroy this trust, thus degrading the parent child relationship. Extreme discretion should be used in any situation that might damage parent child relations. The childs safety, and the safety of those around him are more important than his/her privacy.

oh well i hope i made sense...
