    Ads on the Web really feel like this.

    Now imagine that stupid ad playing multiple times on top of the TV show you're trying to watch, including the audio. That's what the Web feels like with most ads.

    Please note that I really don't mind the text-only or static image ads. But I despise the animated, dynamic, auto-playing video ads. Those things waste my bandwidth and my CPU cycles. It's also wasting the battery power of people using mobile devices.

    You asked why 3D-printed molds are better than CNC-milled molds. I listed the reasons. They're lower cost, good for development and really short manufacturing runs. Apart from those scenarios, they're not better. They probably have limits on which types of plastic can be molded too.

    Nevertheless, it's quite impressive IMHO.

    Until more communications becomes encrypted by default, doing encryption just flags yourself as someone to be checked more thoroughly.

    The real way to be unknown is to feed the machine with non-obvious false information, such as the fact that I live in France but use a Canadian proxy to hide my position.

    According to Stratasys, for small runs and development, 3D-printed plastic molds are faster to make and cheaper than CNC-milled aluminium or steel molds.

    It also made the project somewhat complicated because you can't just power off the pi, you have to do a proper linux shutdown.

    I know it wouldn't apply to a logging project, but isn't it a limitation of the distro? I've read about "no-writes" distros that you can shut down at any time.

    For me, the Pi Zero has double the RAM, a higher speed CPU, is lower profile and almost half the size and cheaper than the A+. I don't need networking and one USB port is enough.

    I think they're doing this to shame the DHS and FBI and at the same time show the world that this kind of thing is possible even without government-approved backdoors.
