  1. I don't think it was ever discussed where he was born in the book. I know his mother was killed when BA was destroyed by the bugs but it never said, one way or the other, whether he was born in BA. Certainly he didn't LIVE in BA.

  2. The national service in Heinlein's book was NOT NECESSARILY military. It could be - the main character was in the military - but it did not have to be.

  3. The book was racist? When citizens had names of numerous races in them? Democracy was exercised by people who chose to do national service. You were not restricted from national service, but you had to serve your term. Oh wait, I forgot, this goes against the SJW creed that anything that requires achievement is racist, sexist, etc.

I would have at one time supported Libertarians. But taking Bill Weld into the libertarian party says their day is done and they deserve to vanish into the dustbin of history - the man is a statist bastard of the highest order. Besides it seems like the only thing the libertarian party cares about is drug legalization.

Interestingly enough, you allude to something no one discusses. I have no issues with doing things to emit less of everything, including carbon. I have tremendous objections to the idea that the solution to "global warming" is "carbon tax" which is what almost everyone says. Let's see, how exactly would giving the state MORE MONEY to squander help? What exactly happened to all the money from the tobacco settlements that were supposed to go for health programs and anti smoking stuff anyway?

Well, actually, WWII was started more by France and Britain who wanted punitive reparations from Germany, whose economy then collapsed. Your explanation of the 'big bad boogeyman' of the Russians..the Communists were a non issue at the end of WWI. Indeed, Joe Stalin was our buddy in WWII - if anything, FDR caused most of the issues because he gave eastern Europe to the USSR thus forcing millions of people under the yoke of the Soviet Union.

  15. I don't see it that way at all. Picking someone in the middle of facism and fascism is someone who is a fascist. We have two evil, evil parties who are destroying freedom in the US and in the world. Picking someone 'politically moderate' is like saying "I think I'll take a half dose of cyanide." Having said that, it isn't clear to me that Americans give a damn about freedom anymore. I cannot speak for others in the world. As long as they have their 2000 inch TV sets that is all that matters.

Why would there be a reason to suspect a virus? Patient X comes to your office wasting away with a bizarre form of cancer. The patient has cancer, okay. Patient Y is hospitalized with a rare form of pneumonia and dies. The patient died from pneumonia. Nobody, but nobody, was looking for bacteriological or viral causes of transmission of this 'syndrome.' A 'syndrome' by its definition is a collection of symptoms that are related. Remember, most doctors are NOT researchers. They are akin to car mechanics for humans.
