Nah, French is closer to Linux: Spoken by a vocal minority who are infuriated and don't understand why people most people would choose to speak the "inferior" language of English.

English is like Windows: A clunky mess full of inconsistencies, but everyone uses it and it gets the job done.

I think the reality of the matter is that there's higher profits for be made from a small number of megastars, than there is from lots and lots of stars.

That's the truth of the matter, and the thing the internet screwed up for them possibly more than downloads.

The labels used to be able to control the marketing and life cycles of these stars, through radio stations, MTV, and record store promos. Everyone was aware of the same artists. Now, with the internet, it's trivial for a smaller band to start up and spread a fanbase, so musical tastes are far more fragmented than they have ever been. Kids are the exception: Listening to the same music is still part of fitting in. However, unexpected hits fly out of nowhere there too, now.

AFAIK, in most places plotting murder or uttering death threats is a criminal offense.

Words to not have the power to kill or otherwise (really) hurt someone.

Absolute bullshit. There's a very old expression: The pen is mightier than the sword.

Most wars/revolutions/coups/whatever are started by talkers, people who never even step into battle.

Zealots, of any sort, can't tell the difference between "knowing" and "believing". That's what you have to take into consideration.

As for myself, I'm an agnostic. I believe there's no way we can actually say whether there is or is not a god, but I feel there is none. People say that stance lacks conviction, but I feel I'm being more realistic on the matter.

Where in any of the HTML specs does it say that JPEG, GIF, or even PNG are the official formats for IMG that must be used?

The only reason you guys want Ogg Theora declared the official standard is because it doesn't have a shot in hell of becoming the standard on its own merits. But, no one should be discouraged from using Ogg if they want, just like no one should be discouraged from using H.264 (which is widely supported on a hardware level.)
