Sorry about that. I DID try out the original BO, though, and it was certainly like that.
And this is where you make your mistake, assuming that this is anything like the origional. BO2K is a very nice, easily used remote admin tool with a feature set beyond most of it's commercial compeditors, before you critisize, look for your self.
The network admin at my town's public high school intends to use BO2K as a remote admin tool. This is because it is has the best useability/cost ratio out there, the fact that it has "supurfolus features" that he doesn't intend to use doesn't make it any less a verry good remote admin tool.
Public opinion shouldn't relate to what scientists can work on . . . funding and a will to do something should be the ONLY things that affect a scientific project, unless that project would result in harm to others, which returning some stupid bird species from extinction most assuredly* wouldn't do.
Very simply, if other people make a species extinct and this won't affect me and it's not on my land, then I couldn't care less.
If people want to scientifically bring species back from extinction, for whatever reason . . . good for them, if they make money on this then they help the economy which helps me in the end.
If something doesn't affect me, then it's not my problem, and it would be better for the world if everyone could agree to not try to cause or prevent things that don't affect them.
Think about the problems caused by "Save the Children" groups who are trying to save other peoples children from 'problems' which the children and their parents don't see as problems, and which will never affect, for good or ill, the members of the "Save the Children" groups . . .

Hmm, simple solution to (technical) problem:
on
Voting over the net?
·
· Score: 1
I'm no expert, but the following seems like a simple solution to the problem of allowing anyone to vote over the web while preventing duplicate votes.
The only problem with this setup would be that it'd require people to ALWAYS use this system to vote. (Go to voting place, get voter key from person who would normaly be handing out ballot forms, enter booth, operate computer, vote done, guess not that big a problem!)
Call 1-888-VOTE-NOW ==> Recieve voter key, a random (out of the unused combos) 8 diget code where each diget can be [A-Za-z0-9]. That's 68^8 or 457,163,239,653,376 different combos, some looser trying to multi-vote picking at random won't get a correct number, even if the entire population of the US had 1 number each. (even 68^4 would be sufficient, but we don't want anyone to think there was any chance of insecurity)
Go to [www.vote.gov], type in your voter key. ==> vote.gov presents a voting form
Select your choices, press "preview".
Check your choices, press "VOTE!".
Is good enough, da? (Better than way is done now!)
Or make fun of absolutely anything. Realy now, you aren't healthy if you cannot accept things being made fun of, including - but not limited to:
Anyone, including you.
family
friends
countries
religion
Death
Life
Anything that actualy happens in the world
Anything that doesn't happen in the world.
If you don't accept things being made fun of, you will have a miserable existance. If you enjoy things being made fun of, you can enjoy existance more.
This is something I have difficulty figuring out. What is the logical argument against people being able to see pictures of other people without clothes on when the other people agreed to be photographed in such a state?
I also don't understand how it becomes the responsability of national government to decide what I can use my town's public internet connectivity for. I would think that would be a responsibility of me, and maybe my parents as I'm under 18 years of age. I could see an argument for letting the town's government or the library staff restrict what was accessible, but not a verry good argument.
I don't know of a single scientific study that showed harmful effects as the result of viewing "Pornograhic Materials". I would think that such viewing would actualy have benificial effects in that the viewer would gain knowledge.
If children are too young to have such info, then they are too young to access the 'net unsupervised anyway!
(Ok, so I pulled the last command out of/dev/random, but you get the idea.)
It doesn't matter if the CD is encrypted, because with this technique you don't have to decrypt to copy, and since you're making an exact duplicate then if the CD Drive could read the original it can read the copy.
There's no reason that we shouldn't try to actively promote Linux now. If more people knew that it exists as an option and is getting better, this would be a good thing.
Linux looks pretty darn good now, and there's no reason this couldn't be done again once it's even better.
Any positive publicity is better than no publicity.
Ever since I saw the movie "Jurrassic Park" I thought a 3D GUI would be neat. It is taking the inefficiency of a high-graphics UI another step further and making it a high graphics 3D UI, that can't be good for performance. Also, it becomes difficult to interact with a 3D UI on a 2D screen with standard 2D input devices, I'd somwhat like to know what tecniques they intend to use to solve this problem.
None of these things are "Real" things. They are all just abstractions made up by humans to deal with life. Sometimes it makes sense to ignore them.
When I consider a course of action, I consider the following points:
Does this course of action gain me anything?
Does this course of action hurt anyone?
Does it gain anyone else anything?
Are there any potential consequences, eithor harmful or benificial?
Does the potential gain outweigh the harm?
Whether or not my action is illegal isn't relevent, it's WHY is it illegal! For an argument against the intelectual property laws see a certain paper written by one Richard Stallman.
Pirating software that I wouldn't buy anyway usualy ends up gaining me more than it would harm anyone with a minimum of posible non-benificial repercussions.
The fact of illegality is not sufficient to prevent me from doing something. In Massachusetts, where I live, fireworks are illegal . . . if I thought differently than I did the 4th of July would be pretty booring.
It's still statisticlly valid, it just has a different meaning. In this case it means "Of the group of people who visited this site and participated in the poll, who want's what?". That's usualy all that an internet poll can mean.
I realy don't think that the others in my community could understand sufficiently to help. Any church group would probably say that all my problems are from not believing in christianity. The youth groups around here are no help, the only one that I can think of ends up being just the kids that smoke pot. Most of the people who have tryed to help me end up diagnosing my problems as problems they've eithor had or seen before . . . none of them have ever been right and they usualy just end up pissing me off.
Probably the only thing that could be done to realy help the various problems is to reform public schools so as put people with similar learning styles, intellegence levels, and knowledge levels together. Yes . . . there would be dissadvantages, but at least then I wouldn't be adding "In school they are trying to teach me basic principles of genetics that I learned when I was 8 from reading Jurrassic Park and then they're getting mad at me for ditching the useless homework that they assign" to the list of my problems. This would also prevent the kind of jock-nerd compitition that we keep hearing complaints about. I go to school to learn, not to do stupid drudge work, or to go through a pointless 12 year hazing process.
Sorry if I didn't actualy manage to say anything, but that's what happens when I try to wright stuff and don't know exactly what I'm trying to say.
If there were required classes in parenting that would cause problems of its own. Such classes would probably end up trying to get parenting styles to conform to the local 'norm'.
This, in some places, would mean that they would try to get parents to force their children to follow so called "Healthy Lifestyles" (20 Minutes of excersize 3x a week, Required Participaiton in school sports or debate/chess team, Be awake with the sun, etc).
In other places in the US, this could mean such things as "If your kid don't go to church, you're a bad parent".
I know that many people would protest at the way I've been brought up . . . but I think that if it had been different, I wouldn't have the freedom of thought and time that I have now.
I've been dealing with [that type of] difficulties at school, with minimal family support for about 6 years. I'm 15 Now. Basicly my family has gone through every major difficulty possible without anyone dying. (Father is bipolar, Mother had breast cancer, they divorced, mother married 'evil' stepfather, etc). The only support I've had has been from my friends (Major Incompatibilities there . . . but I've already outlined enough of my problems =P).
I've never shot anyone, or even realy attacked anyone.
All I'm realy trying to say is that even without support from family or realy anyone else I could see in RL, I was STILL capible of not reacting violently to a difficult school situation.
Nak. Is no difference. BO2K doesn't circumvent NT Security. Is legit remote admin tool. I can tell you haven't read the BO2K web site.
I fully intend to install BO2K on all My school's computers when I return to school, with the help of our network admin.

then it isn't breaking and entering if someone comes in and takes your stuff or messes up your stuff. It should work the same with computers.
If you are using XOR "Encription" then the password min is 4.
Check out the BO2K website at http://www.bo2k.com/ if you don't belive me.

I never thought of rewrighting X in perl, I better get right on it!

If Microsoft can stack the deck, we can too.
NT IIS vs NT Apache vs Linux Apache vs Solaris Apache
Hardware: One PIII 550 w/ 768 megs of RAM (Fill in same level hardware to make functional system)
8 tests:
I think that would give us the results we wanted for optimal publicity, but if I'm wrong . . . give a better set.
"Well, if NT won't boot then it forfiets that test"
I agree. Nothing beats a Microsoft mouse (except that MS still hasn't come out w/ a good 3 button mouse. Damn Wheel that won't do anything in X)
I like their Joysticks too.

Linux cannot loose, yet it does have the capacity to win.
