if it's the stamp machines, or the self-serve kiosks that are imaging us. If the latter, I can see the need. Those things can be used to mail packages and can hold lots of cash, credit card info, etc. Rather like ATMs, and no one objects to those imaging us.
(with numbers and mixed cases) really too much to ask?
Yes. It is. I'm supposed to remember which password goes with which account/username on which one of 4 systems I may have to access at work, plus root and regular user on the home box? Then there are the user/pass combos for here, k5, husi, tnr, the atlantic, wash post, ny times, salon.com, and a couple of other ones.
That's something like 16-20 user/password combos. Fortunately I can use the same username across multiple sites. But I use different passwords.
Oh, and those passwords are all on different change cycles. Some 3 months, some 6, some never. So not only do I have to remember the old passwords, I have to remember the new ones as well.
is that any effective, non-vigilante, spam controls are going to depend on the internet being non-open in the way he describes. This also applies to controlling DDoS attacks, and any other Bad Activity (TM) out there. If we want to stop spam, DDoS, and other anti-social behavoir on the net, it has to be non-anonymous.
But if we want to allow freedom to post anonymously, thus preserving other freedoms by bringing abuses of governments and corporations into the light of day, we have to allow anonymity on the net.
So we have a choice. Something to remember the next time we want to praise a government for 'outlawing' spam.
Tell you what. Roll out your own broadband service in your area. All you have to do is get easements from every property owner whose property your lines cross, lay cable to everyone who wants it, setup the servers, and presto, you're now a broadband ISP.
Of course, it will cost money, which has to be recouped, and you'll need to build up some funds to pay for future expansion and upgrades. But I'm sure you can do it for a low cost. Say, $40/subscriber.
Northrop Grumman, SAIC, Booz Allen, and the other Big Arms Merchants. They're hiring like maniacs. If your TS is recently expired, and easily renewable, it should be no problem.
If you have a clearance, especially TS, you won't be unemployed for long at all. TS you won't be unemployed any longer than you want to be. But you can do well without a clearance if you have the skills. Say, flash+asp+php+Cold fusion, with some Apache and Perl. Or lots of experience with C/C++ and Python on two or more platforms.
Section. 8. Clause 3The Congress shall have Power To...regulate Commerce... among the several States, and it has chosen to have the FCC handle the regulation.
The lawsuit which the article is about is over the broadcast flag. The PC stuff involves what is done after the transmission is received, and is a bit dodgy.
As far as ISPs go, ever run tracert? Packets cross state lines frequently, even on communications going from one part of a state to another.

Insufficient human checking of the stamps. You could put all sorts of stuff on those stamps...
whackos. Etc, etc, etc.
I dunno. Look at the history of AT&T. They went after patent violators with crowbars.
Veteran of the Psychic Wars?
and the butt. The way they walk. Don't get me wrog, boobies are nice, but not a determinant of attractiveness.
Evar on /.
Well, Linux doesn't have searching in the OS. Neither does FreeBSD. Does that make Windows better? Or is it just more cruft running in kernelspace?

Hell yes, I keep a cheat cheet in the wallet.
Which is weird, since it doesn't have a mic or speakers.
Right now it's telling me that it's time to go home and clean the guns.

The leak was the result of sabotage.
It has to fit the overtightened lug nuts on my car, but not be too large for use in close-in self defense/LARTing situations.
My ass gets numb just thinking about that. Might be good for a NYC to Tokyo flight, however.
it's an IDE. Delphi uses Pascal, but the compiler can also handle C++.
Which makes it harder to write bad code. PLus, it's Borland. Borland, IMHO, writes better compilers than MS, and better libraries too.

There were maximum height and mass requirements.
Most cable companies offer a basic basic service that is just the over-the-air channels.
Big Endian, or Middle endian? The article doesn't seem to say...
possibly because I have all the ads blocked.
