It appears that Lowtax, web master of SomethingAwful and someone who constantly rags on how websites can't run on ad money, is now an employee of eFront.
Seems odd for a person who was anti add networks, but I don't think his head was in the right place for having dual standards about anti ad networks but then whining about not being able to run his website full time.
Christmas time is upon us, and this is when the worst games are released because every game developer wants their game out before XMAS. No QA, half-baked ideas, etc.
Hence, there is more than enough time for the worst game of the year to be released.
How can a digital storage media not be media dependant? Please explain.
You still need a protocol or method of decoding/encoding the data. Granted standard IDE HD's with a FAT file system are platform dependant, but who can't get the specs on them and use them for whatever?
While they're at it why don't they release movies on Betamax.
Thankfully money talks; the millions of people with 'old cdroms' will gracefully return their 'faulty cd' and buy a cd that works on their 'old cd player.' Does Joe RedNeck know that there is a 'new cd player' for playing such cd's? Didn't think so.
If Divx failed, what makes them think something like this will not?
Thankfully smaller and independent labels have some sense of dignity, and try to promote the music, not promote sales.
Whats the big deal? Intel, or all other chip makers for that matter, cut prices all the time! If this wasn't so we'd still be paying top price for an i8088.
People can say that this price drop was all because of the Athlon; maybe, but if their prices didn't drop continously then no-one would buy Intel's new chips.
Next time, how about an article that says the sun set in Minnesota?
thx-1138 was Lucas's first script and directing role, in which society is force fed drugs by the government to keep them in a state of emotional sedation. Once sedated society is used as drones by the government for their will.
While not about cloning, specifically, the concept is very similair and Lucas has proven himself. Lucas just needs to get back into darker imagery and themes.
It's obvious that Lucas's vision of the evil, cloned empire comes from his vision of our future from thx-1138.
Many people are missing the point of why Microsoft wants to develop an easy to use web server that Joe can use, increased numbers of people using Microsoft web servers.
Right now the Mindcraft study is a great advertising point for the Microsoft marketing team to work on; suits see a 200% speed increase of one web server over another as huge, and don't bother to look at the specifics.
What they need are more numbers to back that up; how good would a Microsoft commercial look if over 50% of the world uses Microsoft's web server, which is also 200% faster than the competitor.
Of course, what the advertisment doesn't show is that almost all of those web servers used in that 50% are desktop machines being run by some 15 year old which distributes porn and MP3s. Suits don't look at the specifics and see that the mission critical servers are running Apache.
Of course this has no bearing on OSS developers, as they don't develop software for commercial or market gain... Microsoft knows this, they know Apache/Linux will always be developed. Microsoft just wants the people with money to spend it on their products. They need marketable numbers to increase their mindshare.

How many Microsoft and Quake jokes will it take for the general public to realize that User Friendly is not funny?
The first week I read UF it was kinda funny, but then it wore thin.
'Way to go Microsoft!'
'Stef sucks in Quake!'
Can we say OLD?
Not to mention that all the stupid-user jokes on UF are common urban myths in the IT position that can be read from one of many web pages.
