    Its makes sence really, if you look at alot of motherboards they have 4 slots for memory in channels. The "bus" is almost gone already, might as well just kill it and go point to point. Don't but 4 channels thats harder I expect they will reduce the standard boards to 2 or 3 slots! But in a point to point system they don't have to worry about match memory and the like...

    No the EU is also impartial for exactly the same reason. They don't receive similar benefits and so don't mind passing rulings that would help native EU produces (such as Suse before Novell bought them).

    Can I say as someone who has been suffering with my domain name being forged (hint picking a domain name starting with an "a" is a bad idea), I am really looking forward to some kind of Reverse MX system. The advantage of a signing system and key is the reverse does not have to be tied to a particular IP. The public part could aways be delivered by DNS, to stop "throw away" domains, we just need a way to tell the age of a domain, anything less than a month isn't accepted. if keys were centrally issued (by your registry), they could be say only issued after a month.

    Why is BSD more "viable", BSD licence just gives it away for all to use, with that licence everyone is allowed to take your work. Many people (myself included) would rather it rotted on a shief that do that, but are more than happy to allow people to use and improve it so long as they give changes back. BSD is not an alturnative its different sure you don't have to worry about courts.. but thats cos you have nothing. BSD more "Commerical", why should I care if its commerical or not? Why should I care if someone is UNABLE to make a buck from my work due to the licence? Don't like that? Tuff write your own code or licence someone elses.

    How do we know it is just limited to the sub code? They have been shown to steal GPL code. We have know way to know they have not taken other bits of code. Personally I recon if they did it once (and thought they got away with it) they did it again.
    It is not up to KISS to prove they are clean or they should be sued to hell and back.

    I too was disappointed with NWN, I loved BG/2. But with NWN you could not build yourself a party of characters to play the game with. One henchman was not enough. keeping there crappie magic item so it can be upgraded sucked. I want atleast 4 characters in a balanced party.

    Well the question now with modern graphics cards is will the overheat and burn out before they are obselete. I only have the touch the heat sink on my radeon 9800 pro to work out my answer to that baby. On a side note is seems the lower parts of the ranges are now retools of older chips on new chip processes that run more cool. Ie a radion 9200 is an 8500 with 2 rather 4 for pixel pipelines on a new chip process.

    And this is why he needs the GPL over turned, because the GPL says if there is a toll keeper like that the code cannot be GPL. If its not GPL it cannot be sold in its current form (if at all). If it is GPL it cannot have a toll keeper either way Darl cannot get his transaction fee with the GPL standing.

    Novell didn't sell them an Intel Based unix with user base, they sold the right to sell unix licences. If Suse does compete with SCO it is in an area that was not sold by Novell to SCO.

    I expect this is SCOs fork tongue at work again, normally non compete agreements go like this, if I sell you a newspaper, agree to not compete with you for X number of years by setting up another newspaper, however this leaves my tiolet paper division to compete with your one! Now what was it that SCO bought ah yes the right to sell UNIX licences, NOT the a unix operating system, sco already had a unix operating system. Non compete agreements normally don't say all current and future business areas... Just that which was sold.

    I make you wonder what would have happened if it had not been MS. If MS had the patent and Eolas was being sued, the bet the patent office would have let the court decide if the patent should stand or not, which is the normal way they behave.

    No they mean when your next gen VCR breaks and you have to gte a replacement, you won't be able to play YOUR tapes, they mean your VCR down stairs will not be able to play the tapes recorded upstairs they mean VCR in terms of Machine for recording TV and Tapes in terms of what ever media that thing takes.

    What happens if the bad guys get hold of the technology and shutdown all trucks for the Chaos. Or purhaps use it to disable trucks carring high value items so they can be robbed.

    Whats to stop the "Criminal" them just ripping out the black box before driving the truck way? "Criminals" don't obey laws (hence being criminals) so won't mind being illegal and not having the shutdown circuit!

    Err No not public domain the work will still be Copyright. If this were not the case, all we would have to do is prove the MS Eula invalid to get free products. If you prove the licence agreement is invalid that means you get NO right to use the product at all, not complete rights, because the copyright holder only distributed the software under that licence which you have now rejected.

    This is something I also would like to know, A scsi card is also sitting on the PCI bus so I would not have thought the problem was there. I wonder how SATA discs compare with Scsi.
