After looking at the video I have to conclude that:
MODERN DIRECTION OR ROBOTS DEVELOPMENT IS COMPLETELY ENTERTAINMENT-DRIVEN, AND NOT SUITABLE FOR ANY PRACTICAL PURPOSE.
Seriously, snake shape is absolutely worthless in those conditions. It looks good (as long as you don't follow it trying to wriggle its way across trivial obstacles for hours), and probably fun to program, however why anyone with any remnants of sanity would think, this is in any way useful, is still a mystery for me.
Real snakes have an advantage of great flexibility, high energy density and low weight. This contraption has no hope to utilize either of those things. Legs, some kind of folding wheels, even air jets would provide far greater mobility with the same size, and anyone who actually has a goal of developing a useful device, would use some of those solutions already. But noooo, they have to play with snake-like shape because snakes are cool.
Really, GTFO of my engineering and go do something on a stage.
But only if you are Russian or at least from former Russian Empire or USSR, following the proposed rule. Otherwise, everyone will name things after foreign leaders and politicians, diluting the intended disgrace and derision. For example, I should not be able to name things after the above mentioned Condoleezza Rice.
When I learned that a tanker was named after Condoleezza Rice, I got an idea:
What if we dedicated a kind of object (fuel delivery vehicle or installation may be a good choice, but it can be anything, even exoplanets) to be named after the worst people we know, but the person or organization naming it must be confined to someone close in origin, to avoid obvious abuse? Maybe specifically exclude Hitler from available choices, but imagine living in a colony on the planet Malyuta Skuratov or Andrei Chikatilo...
I know Slashdot isn't the place to say this, but almost all programming is menial.
No! Most programming work is tedious, however most important decisions have to be made constantly, in the midst of that tedious work. You can't make decisions by yourself, then pass the work to an idiot -- he will not notice where he has to make a decision, and will do something random that seems right, and those decisions will eventually destroy everything.
This is already the case if another employer is willing to go through the same process. It won't work if this was not the case, as then it would be possible to set up the company that simply hires then immediately fires everyone, acting as a cheap immigration service.
From my experience, the cultures from east Europe/Russia cannot abstract or design. As a general stereotype, they're very good at making something quickly but locked down and optimized. You're out of luck getting something maintainable, flexible, or in line with modern hardware/software architecture from there.
When you learn the difference between a Software Engineer and a "code hacker" you might be able to make an intelligent post.
Actually no, there are just engineers and shit engineers. The "trivial" occupations in software disappeared when languages improved enough that a formula and algorithm could be recognized by a human from looking at the source code, and that was a long time ago.
This did not prevent stupid and ignorant people who can write trivial software from being involved in projects they are not qualified for, but it does not change the fact that those people are simply bad at what they are supposed to be doing.
They considered A LOT more than just salary. Some of the factors they considered were: salary, rate of patent production, Ph.D. dissertation awards, doctorates earned at top-ranked universities, and employment in R&D.
All completely irrelevant, because foreigners are less likely to come from university recognized as "top-ranked" by Americans, or have any ties to US university to get a Ph.D there while working, or be involved in getting a US patent even if invention is mostlly his work.
That's pretty limited, and government specifically reserves the ability to jump in and nerf it when it sees fit, as far as re-use of seeds is concerned.
Same, except the same condition is reversed compared to UK -- unless otherwise defined, saved seeds of everything can be re-used. It also specifically limits the time for protection of any dependent variety, to the time initial variety is protected, thus preventing endless extensions.
Those are trademarks, you dolt! No one is prevedntedc from using seeds, or breeding animals, you just can't call any result by whatever it originated from. You sometimes can't call the product by some name if it wasn't grown in a given region.
People don't realize that engineering and software development always involves doing something new and dealing with unpredictable problems. The things that can be estimated are the trivial part of the project, and they do not actually take any significant time, we just fudge that time to stuff the "creative" and "unpredictable" things in there. In reality it's all bullshit, and any relationship between estimated and actual development time is a coincidence.
Go talk to some people who escaped such atrocities and maybe you'll realize your all things equal line is ridiculous.
I can talk to my own relatives, friends and acquaintances immigrated to US, to find out how they were discriminated and persecuted for practicing religion that I know for a fact, they did not even know at the time, and were staunch atheists for their whole life until they were promised easy immigration process if they will claim they are trying to escape religious discrimination and not racism and economic crisis.
Watching AC shit?
On this site, we are all watching AC shit, and registered users' shit, and corporate shills' shit, for fifteen years already.

Robot owners of construction companies would be a much better direction of development.
^^^ hairyfeet whoring for karma, posting popular opinions while contributing nothing to the discussion.

The only time that's a benefit is when you plan on getting your glasses taken forcibly from you.
What is pretty much the only time any of this matters at all.
s/SD card/your own server/
I am pretty sure, no one claimed that they need H1B visas to get people who already have US patents.
But not at the extent of allowing unlimited copying after purchasing something once.
CEO skills
Being a member of good old boys network is not a skill.

Congratulations, you are an idiot!
But you can't work while waiting for it, so it's pointless for the employer and irritating for the employee.

Plus compulsory licensing.
Really worthless for building a monopoly.

As long as they will tell the rest of manking, where are they going to do that, so we can get the Hell out of that place.
They just take as much time as the work itself.

Or running away.
The shares went up because of the very good numbers the accountants fudged this quarter despite the drop in PC sales.
