Ah, but don't you see? Etoys comes out of this as the victor.

    1. Etoy's initiates a stupid lawsuit, get's primary injunction passed, gets site off web during holiday season.
    2. Etoy's is flamed, reducing /.'s credibility, multiple DoS attacks with little or no effect commence.
    3. CNN reports idiotically on the whole debacle; the general public remains in the dark.
    4. Etoys, after the holiday season, removes their lawsuit, appologizing (*cough*bullshit*cough*), and politely asks etoy not to hit back after Etoys gave them a bloody nose.

Result: etoy forced off the web, Etoys is victorious.

Now: What happens if etoy decides to justfully pursue their lawsuit?

Answer: Story gets top headlines, Etoys puts the full weight of their PR department behind it, etoy becomes the greedy little website trying to exact vengence after a little "misunderstanding."

I'm Jewish, and I must say, I really got bit in the ass this holiday season. I ordered a Lego Mindstorms set off Amazon.com (not a smart move, but I did it). The site read "2-3 days". Yeah, right. One week later my order entered "Shipping Soon" status. Didn't ship after that for a whole fscking week, by which time Hannukah was over anyway. And what really ticked me off was that little note after every item in their store, "Need this by December 24th? No Problem!"

Damn people seem to think everyone in the world is Christian.

  7. Re: Q3A Demo and IP-Masq on Quake 1 GPL'ed · · Score: 1

    From Graeme Devine's .plan file:

So far I've seen issues with the servers being able to see the auth server and clients using
IP forwarding not having the correct setup on the IP forwarding server. If it's a Linux IP
    forwarding machine use something like:

    modprobe ip_masq_quake ports=26000,27000,27910,27960,27950,27951,27952

Modulating characters within a key sequence will not work. It appears to work because when
you've validated your IP with an authentic CD key you've "leased" that IP address for a period
of time. Even if you enter a junk string, that will work because your IP address is still valid.

Oh please. The holocaust has been franchised more than McDonald's. If I see one more tearjerker movie about the holocaust I'm going to fucking shoot someone.

The Holocaust was arguably the most horrid and detestable period of human history. It chronicled one kind of people attempting to systematically annihilate another kind of people because their power hungry leader needed a scape-goat and the Jews were the best people to paint a bulls-eye on. Maybe I'm sentimental, but that sounds pretty fucking tear-jerking to me.

They just finished squeezing the German companies and people of several billion dollars. What the fuck is that all about? The holocaust comes down to a few bucks?

You're right... it doesn't come down to a few bucks... It comes down to a few million lives. This is a trite cliche, but imagine if your mother died. Pretty bad, huh? Now imagine if your father, sister, brother, and friends were slaughtered. Gosh, that must suck! Now imagine that happening to a few million people.

    They will be destroyed eventually.

Ok... So you're a jew-hater. Good for you. Aren't you proud? You get to blame all your problems on people you've never met now!

I started using linux about December of last year, and it was pretty rough going. However, after a year of fiddling (and reading every newbie-oriented linux book I could get my hands on), I now feel comfortable with linux.
