This is what happens when you have a society that is more interested in punishing people than reforming. It's as if to say "We don't believe you'll ever change, or are capable of changing so we're going to crush you instead." All you have to do is read a forum on any news story relating to a crime to get a realistic view on how people view "corrections" should be carried out.... and we call other countries barbaric.

I know that's supposed to be tongue in cheek, but correlation is just another way of saying, we need to look into this with more detail. So if that's your hypothesis and there's correlation between the events, then who am I to judge if you decided to study it with greater detail.
" These things can be changed through well-funded education systems that seek to overcome parents' bad attitudes, but it takes generations, and the US has been going backwards for a long time."...and to a vast majority of conservatives these days... THAT'S Socialism. It's sad to say, but it's true that people think that.
It's newsworthy because it's in the public spotlight.. it's topical.. and that means ad revenue. It's not about whether or not something is "newsworthy" it's about what's currently being discussed and how that relates to the corporate revenue stream.
Caucasian, as in from the Caucasus region? I find it interesting that you insisted on black, but refrained from using white... No hate, just an observation.

While i agree with your sentiment, leaving regulation to the private sector is just as bad if not worse... Self regulation == no regulation
