I am sorry, the budget was cut and we had to eliminate the redundant paths. It was too costly and as such we expect you figure out how to get the full 10Gbps out of the single T1 line. Please have the proposal ready by tomorrow, and remember that any solution you come up with should cost no more than your time. Oh, and we are a Windows only shop so you can not suggest OSS solutions.
This was intended to be funny, but Ill take troll.:)
To those claiming it to be a straw man, it is not! I see people in here backing scientific method that in global warming threads claim it to be a proven fact. You can not have both! So when people ask why it is 99% and not 100%, maybe we should look at the myths that are put forward as science and stop pushing the myths.
No ISP is going to shut off an account because of an infected computer. They might throttle it somewhat, but it is the site administrator's responsibility to deal with infected computers.
Umm, I call BS on that statment! See the proof!

Here is what the terms of service state!!
Representations and Warranties. Subscriber represents, warrants, covenants and agrees that he/she will not engage in any of the following types of conduct ("Prohibited Use and/or Activities") in utilizing the IAS:
Uploading, transmitting, receiving, displaying, printing, forwarding or otherwise disseminating material, content, communication, information or software that contains a virus, trojan horse, self replicating code, or other harmful component;
It would seem that some ISP's are shutting off accounts due to viruses and trojens.
Which is sad because there is no virus or trojen on the system in question. Just a lot of file transfers and e-mails with large attachments.
For you or anyone who wants to know more about the software and setup. Go to my website, http://www.xganon.com/ and send me an e-mail. Just select the "Contact Us" button and fill out the info. Ill e-mail you back and we can go over the software (open source) and how to set it up.
I am always willing to help people secure a system.:)
I noticed my servers SSH port being hit a few years ago. I moved it to another port, locked the port down, then set up an SSH honey pot on the standard port. The honey pot attempts to ID people from programs using a verity of methods such as space between key strokes and use of the backspace or delete key.
I found that once the attacking software appeared to have access to the server, A person would login and check it out. Most of them attempted to use wget to dump a root kit onto the server. I have grabbed copies of the software they attempt to down load and checked it out.
It normally consists of a root kit, network scanner, packet sniffer, and the scanning software to scan and hack SSH.
I think these are wannabe hacker kids trying to get in.
I have watched the OLPC for some time. As time goes by, It seems like less of a deal. I just picked up a nice Compaq with a 15" wide screen, 512 meg of memory, 802.11 card etc. At Best Buy it was $350. By the time they get the OLPC out the door, normal low end laptops will be in the $200 range.
I find it a little funny that I just had this conversation with some one taking classes in video production.
My question was simple. Take a long time show (Lets say Stargate SG1) take no more than 2 min of footage from 30 different episodes. Edit them together into a new episode. So you designed the episode, you story boarded it, it was your idea, you collected the footage, you did the work. Who owns the copyright on it?
I figure it falls under a gray area that a judge would need to decide on.
But just for fun, the serial key for windows is not copyrighted and can not be copyrighted.:)
I am ready for a choice! For those that think that 2 high speed internet providers == choice, check this out. I had 2 providers of high speed (Southwestern Bell (SBC) and Comcast)
SBC Bought AT&T (Now AT&T.) Time Warner bought Comcast. (At least in my area)
AT&T and Time Warner are partners!
So my two choices are AT&T (DSL) or Time Warner (Cable) and they are in bed with each other. Look it up...
I hope they get them to open the records. Let the light of day in and let us see just where they are and how they have struck "Deals" to divvy up the markets!
As I read the article, the following jumped out at me.
"The Web sites that challenged the law said fear of prosecution might lead them to shut down or move their operations offshore, beyond the reach of the U.S. law."
Move their operations offshore?? We see how that worked for the casinos, They will get you when changing plains. :
How about move it offshore, Move out of the country, and NEVER set foot on US soil again! A hard thing to do in these times. Next you know the US will divert plains and instruct them to land on US soil, just to arrest some one.
Oh well, welcome to the Land of the Free and home of the Brave....
Please note that the above statement predates the current laws restricting your freedom of speech, Freedom of the press and freedom to assemble(1). The restrictions on gun ownership(2), The no-knock warrants (4), Holding people with out a trial outside of the country (5,6), Setting bail above the amount a person can make in there lifetime (7), and the loss of amendments 9 and 10 after the civil war. But you are free to excersize you 3rd amendment right! "Amendment #3 No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."
Oh, and as for the Brave part. You can not be brave and defend your self with deadly force unless you have first tried to run away and hide. If there is no where to run, then you can be brave and defend your self.
I am all for a constitutional Tea party to show that the Americans have not lost the spirit of what was started, Just this time we should sink cigarette trucks! The Tax on them is through the roof! The government makes more from a pack of cigarettes than the cigarette companies do!
Ok, I am going to put away my soap box and get back to work.
So I am not the only one who uses the Spanish pronunciation of the name as a joke...:)
It makes more sense when you see the guy flipping off some one who cut him off in traffic. All the while having a bumper sticker on his car that asks, "WWJD?"
Funny, When I ran an anonymous server I received calls like this all the time. I gave them the address to my attorney. It was her job to respond to them.
Kad77, you sound like the VP of the ISP I worked for. That would be the one who called me at 2am because "We crashed and everything is down!"
I get in and ask what happened and he tells me "I was downloading a new video and needed space on the server. So I deleted the junk directory that contained all the etcetera stuff." My response was "What etcetera stuff?" to which he replied "You know, the E T C directory"
He is also the same guy that plugged 6 900VA UPS's into a 3$ plug bar from K-Mart.
He had great spelling, excellent grammar, and a Masters in Electrical Engineering.
He just did not have a brain!
Now, to make a point, I have run several anon-servers. I do not support or suggest censorship in any way. I was the one who suggested that we run it past the lawyers!
As to my spelling and grammar, you need to get both a job and a life! If the only thing you have to add is a critique of my spelling and grammar then you need help. This is an informal discussion, not a term paper!
(IANAL) I look at this and wonder is google will use the common carrier clause. By not monitoring and policing the content of the users they could well fall under the common carrier clause. This would mean that as a common carrier, they are not responsible for the content that is on there network. The end users would be responsible.
I have worked at and run many ISP's, The lawyers ALWAYS insistent that any news feed be uncensored because the act of censoring or deleting any of the content could be used in court to show that we agreed with the content that remained. Thus we could be sewed for any illegal content that we missed.
The atmosphere is infinite and its ability to adjust is also infinite.
Although you speak with sarcasm, Your insinuation is that the atmosphere is finite. Although it may be, we are blessed with a natural CO2 scrubbing system that can adapt to the output and expand as needed. We need only allow it to do it's job.
Just so you know, most plants can handle up to 1500 ppm of CO2 and thrive! There ability to handle heat goes up proportionally to the amount of CO2 so plants that exist at 75F @ 380ppm can thrive at 90F to 100F @ 1500 ppm. You may also note that there ability to process CO2 to O2 becomes more efficient at higher CO2 levels as well. The measly 380 ppm we have now is nothing.
Thank you,
Your Management.

That is all science except climatology, Global warming is validated to 100% fact!

I don't think those are bots.

Sounds more like a core dump.
Go for it,
I have a green house that I maintain at 1500ppm of Co2 (5x the atmospheric norm)
The plants grow faster, bigger, put on larger fruit, and are healthier!
I have no problem breathing it at that concentration.
I love KDE but it is not the "Holy Grail!"
:)
If you have read the Da Vinci Code, then wouldn't the "Holy Grail" be Linus's daughter, Patricia Miranda Torvalds?
Thanks, You got me.
:)
I actually looked at my calendar to see if it was April 1st.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH,,,,HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA Secure Windows, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
H AHAHAHA
I wonder if the spy ware/Viruses/Trojans will run on it?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAH,,,,,HAHA
Sorry I cant help my self.... The government wants to secure windows.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA
The only way I know to truly secure windows is to turn it off and unplug it from the network!
HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
I find it a little funny that I just had this conversation with some one taking classes in video production.

You can have any copyright law you want. You just have to bribe^?^?^?^?^? donate more to the congressman's re-election campaign than the RIAA does.

Sorry, I missed that on.
Kinda funny, considering I work for an airline! LOL
Must be a freudian slip.
Just my 2 cents,
Shoot him in the leg/arm == He continues to commit crimes and harm others or he uses his other arm to shoot you in the head!
Shoot him in the Head == No more problem with him.
Shoot enough of them in the head == less violent crime!
All Law abiding citizens armed with guns == Crooks thinking twice before trying something.
All law abiding citizens armed with Fully Automatic Guns == Government thinking twice before trying something.
