Phishing is social engineering using electronic means, and has nothing to do with html. MITM attacks are a vulnerability that affects all network based communication, that includes native apps that talk to a centralised server.
There's a fairly new commercial product called BlueGEN https://www.bluegen.net/ which connects to a domestic natural gas supply; I think they're marketed more toward light industrial use, but if the price comes down (currently ~ $45K Australian) it could be an excellent distributed electricity generation option.
>>They've managed to get the incumbant telco to agree to seperate their wholesale and retail arms and hand over infrastructure to NBNCo.
This is a gross misrepresentation of the situation. The government is paying Telstra $11 Billion for access to its pits and manholes and the sale of _some_ of its infrastructure - they're certainly not handing over anything. And private industry has historically been less effective in Australian telecommunications due to the dirty great monopoly of Telstra - which is just being replaced by the dirty great monopoly of the NBN.
It's small, but probably not as cheap as a Rep Rap which is a fully open-source implementation of a 3D printer that's been around for a few years. They've developed the first iteration into the 'Mendel' which has addrssed some of the issues they came across in initial development.

From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend; Defender of the Universe, a mighty robot, loved by good, feared by evil.
If you live in the Croyden electorate, Gamers for Croyden are apparently putting up a candidate to stand against Michael Atkinson for the state election next year - maybe give them some thought!
The empirical evidence from the current regime is that where a game is refused classification, the publisher will almost always make the necessary alterations (toning down certain amounts of gore etc) in order to achieve an MA15+ rating. The current system has thus been reasonably effective -- ensuring that games are made suitable for a 15+ audience, and given that anyone in the 15-18 category is unlikely to be prevented from accessing a title simply by its having a higher rating that is a defensible approach (by which I mean "there is an argument for it" not "it is the correct approach").
True, in most cases the publisher has altered their game to get the MA15+ rating - but not in all cases.
Additionally, games that have been rated higher in other countries have been rated MA15+ in Australia because we have no higher rating. This I don't personally mind, but it suggests our rating system is flawed.
But I find the biggest hypocricy is in its present state, our ratings system for games doesn't even pass the first guiding principle of the Australian Classification Code;
"adults should be able to read, hear and see what they want"
Gamers for Croyden are a new political party just set up and hopefully they'll get a few votes in Michael Atkinson's seat. They may not change his mind, but hopefully they can spread the word
While we're talking about real Australian beer, try some Coopers, the last remaining brewer of the traditional Australian Sparkling Ale style. Some of the new micros have started to get interested in this style too - Bridge Road brewers brew an Australian Ale I believe - but Coopers have consistently brewed this ale for over 100 years. Another traditional Australian beer worth a shot is Tooheys Old.
It really depends on the complexity of the problems you're trying to solve. If you have complex business processes they won't be easily modelled by rails, or any other framework. So horses for courses, really. It's a judgement call, and depends on the specifics of your application.
That's an interesting point, but I don't think a left wing view can be characterised purely by opinions on unionisation. The left wing view would include emphasis on more government involvement in social security and healthcare, and perhaps no privatisation of industries which lend themselves toward monopolies (electricity and water supply in my state in australia come to mind - pointless privatisation!) Having said that, if you work 80 hour weeks with unpaid overtime, then you've got my sympathies; I'm a programmer and generally don't work more than half that.
A VB mate, Victoria Bitter. Known just by it's colour up north, as in 'I'll have a slab of green tins mate'. Fosters is a rarity in Australia, I think its made overseas more than in Oz.
I personally don't see much difference in the policies of the two major parties - both seem to have moved toward the 'center' and don't distinguish themselves with clearly leftish or rightish policies. In a general sense, anyway. What remains (and is the main thing highlighted by the media) is a difference in personalities between the leaders.
Yeah, I'm not sure that there's any evidence showing the warming trend changing to a cooling trend. That doesn't stop people from conjuring up theories about it though! Take this article from yesterdays Australian newspaper:
as some of the comments there suggest, even the studies cited in the article contradict this 'new ice age' or global cooling that is apparently happening.
Of course, there's always the possibility these articles are just hoaxes.
Sorry to go off topic here, but do you or anyone have a link to good resources on DMZ design?
I've looked aroud, but havn't found anything that comes from a reputable source, but remains simple enough for the network guys at my work to understand:-)
A bit of background - I work for an organisation with several web applications that are accessed by external users by them first logging into our network through a VPN, then separately logging into whichever web app they need. Not the best situation I think you'd agree!
They may not be referring to the interface as serial, but to the way you can add on hard drives in a 'Daisy Chain' configuration as serial. But that's just a guess...

"Andy Smith".. sounds like a fake name to me

Penny Arcade recently had an interview with Gabe Newell where he talks a bit about Valve's interest in hardware development; worth a read:

We can certainly hope!

Same here.
Hope he was drunk while writing that rant
Was going to say the same thing - these don't sound like viable options for low tech third world situations.

And you would need acceleration (ie. the ability to speed up or slow down) to overcome these obstacles.... schoolboy physics.
