well, it's incompatability with popular graphics apps has stalled my hardware upgrades since they'll require software upgrades also. a real hinderance to our progress here.
you really shouldn't generalize like that. max is the dominant 3d sw in terms of users. and yes, it is used for actual heavy-duty vfx in film, usually along with a host of other software. your 'campiness' with maya is a product of their hype and pr. if you ever used the software you'd know the differences are subtle. i've used max for broadcast for the last 5 years.
Who's doing the most hiring this year? I was encouraged by them picking up the job fair once again. Of course, my current employer couldn't afford to send me out there...
I've been to 5 SIGgraphs over the last 7 years and had an awesome time at all of them!!!

How does this compare to exsisting autostereographic monitors? Is producing the devise cheaply the hurdle or is it software that will push it?
Gimme a break.
Anyone remember the short story "Rage" from the 80's by Richard Bachman (A.K.A. Stephen King)? As a young yankee growing up in a small southern fishing village I relished this story and it's prevailing sence of vigalant retribution. I never re-enacted the story, but does the author deserve to get sued over giving me confirmation of and embellishing my pre-existing frustration?
