And dude, if someone is beside you, pulls 3/4 the way up and decides "that lane is mine!" you have to slow down/turn to avoid getting hit. Even if they did hit you, it would be to put you... into the traffic...
Cutting off isn't always "safe"... Canadians have specialized in "I'll get my timmies before you even if I have to kill you, see that! I've got a baby on board sticker!! suck tail pipe beeeyotch!"
Why am I getting the image of some 5'7" 120 pound punk on the other end of this converation...
See you don't care probably because you drive like a maniac too. But once you realize that "oncoming traffic is bad" [little math for you... you do 65mph, they do 65mph, when they hit you.. that's 130mph of force... or... "death"] you'd realize that being cut off isn't such a "minor" thing...
But agian, you drive like a maniac likely and don't see the harm in "pwnzing the roadz"
In soviet russia... you also freeze your balls off walking through the tundra... so kiss my ass you commy fawg.
Fucking ACs...
I propose we have an annual "no AC day" for/. where sane people can post without the banter of stupid little punks that think that hiding [because they know their puny little identity can't substantiate a cogent and relative thought]...
oh fuck you
NO AC DAY!!! I say make it March 7th or something. Just outright ban ACs on that day...
The good thing is by posting as an AC your post gets loads of credibility. Like I could go out and quote you as an honest and trustworthy source who had something useful to say.
Congrats. You're life is so meaningless and inconsequential that you don't even post with an identity anymore. You might as well just suicide yourself now cuz nobody is looking.
Um, if you check my personal website [which I know you did because you're a thorough researching AC poster...] you'd see I **PROGRAM** the GBA [and use it too..]. It's a platform that I can program, e.g. shows I know how embedded systems work [well it's one of a dozen I've used...].... So easy to try and tear someone down... that's why you post as AC right?
The cops get my details too. If they thought I was abusing it they'd let me know.
100% of the time so far the other driver gets scared from me following [at a safe dist/speed] and just admits to the cop that they cut us off or whatever.
And really we only do this maybe once every few months when someone does something really stupid [e.g. sends us into on coming trafic which happens more than you'd like to think].
We don't use it for minor problems [e.g. speeding 10km/h over the limit].
In one case though we had a really old dudes driver license revoked because they were driving down the middle of two lanes at 50km/h in an 80 zone. Then when we went to pass they almost ran us off the road [e.g. moved towards us].
When we called the cops on them we actually had to pull them over ourselves because they were all over the road. Their comment to the cops was "he drive really slow" and the cops reply was "they were pulling you over, didn't you notice how you were driving"... At which point the cops had our info and told us to bugger off.
The dude was sent packing which was good, one less really old bad driver...
That's not my point. Making a bomb and not killing yourself is hard enough. I don't think that's good either.
The point is they think they g0t m4dz zk111z for writing some virus. When in reality a virus [specially for win32 users] isn't that hard to get out there.
So maybe if they realize that if they want to show off "mad skillz" they should just do something more productive cuz at least then they can brag about it and get mad job that pays mad money so they can have mad good toys.
Think about it.
Even if a virus WAS hard to write... what you're gonna go to your next employer and go "you know the power outlet of August 2005? That was me!"... yeah total model employee...
And you could kiss government jobs goodbye too. In Canada for instance they get the RCMP to do a background check and shit so they know your life story.
In no way is it a smart thing todo and all it does is cause others harm. Hence Stupid and Mean.
That's largely the reason I stick to things like usenet/im/slashdot for "online" activities. To me online chat [irc] and gaming is just too um "fucked up"...
Like the sort of folk who can figure out a 12 member clan, organize meetings, tourneys and the like but can't string 8 words properly on a resume to get a job...Let's not get into the "boom!! headshot!" crowd though...
It's nothing impressive to write a worm. Let's see
1. Program that cna send email [not hard] 2. Program that does bad [not hard] 3. Getting email user to click on it [not hard]
Where exactly is the challenge? Hell, write a small lib for sending email and you could write a slew of different worms in a single sitting.
If these punks only knew what is really impressive [e.g. accomplishment...] then we'd have some more productive stuff out there [or just less viruses].
Why? When I was 12 I was actually AFRAID to call 911 unless it was dead serious [excuse the pun]. Now I use it to report bad drivers and routinely see people get pulled over by cops cuz of it;-) [after following them around the city...].
At 12 you should know that 911 isn't a toy. And if you don't AND are capable of writing a worm that dials 911... then you deserve to get a paddling.
"It still unclear what motivated this 43-year-old to launch such a bizarre worm."
What? Mean and stupid doesn't cover it?
It's like asking why that person cut you off in traffic endangering the lives of a half-dozen others... cuz their mean and stupid. It's not some huge racist or plot...
The guy probably thought he was hot shit writing a virus [instead of something productive like an OSS project that could benefit others...] and released something destructive.
The balance in me wants to say "for every good there is a bad" but fuck it. The dude's just plain mean and stupid.
"No, theoretically he is not correct. People have a right to defend themselves with weapons. Why should the government be the only entity in this theoretical world who is allowed to own a gun?"
Um, because you don't need to?
Michael moore asked why there is more violent crimes in the US than Canada.
Here's the exact reason. BECAUSE YOU HAVE WEAPONS. Think of it this way.
I'm going to rob you. I'm down on my luck and I'm criminal. Gun or not this isn't going to change [note: Canada has it's fair share of non-violent robberies/etc].
Ok?
Now that I'm going todo this anyways AND knowing that you have a gun [bat, knife, etc] I'm gonna want to defend myself. Recall in my mind the decision to rob you is not flexible.
So now I rob you instead of armed maybe with a knife or just a verbal threat I bring a 9mm.
And it's not because you have guns, canada has tons of guns, it's because you think "I need my gun to protect myself!" e.g. you carry it with you or have it where it's readily available [to shoot said criminal].
Now I know you're spinning in your chair going "you stupid liar!!! that's just lefty talk! I hug my gun every night!"... Well when have you known people to have critical thinking abilities? Just isn't there.
You're taxed seven ways from sunday for buying a car, hell your income to buy the car is taxed.
I really doubt most road damage comes from small compact/midsize cars. It comes from tonnage landyacht owners and trailer owners who don't dismount right [a neighbour of mine cut a 2", 20ft long grove in the ground when his boat slide down the driveway onto the road, he didn't repair the road and it was left like that for a year before the city did]....
I agree that taxes sould go to roads but let's tax appropriately. You wanna drive an oversized, overweight car on city roads? You pay more tax.
You wanna drive an appropriate smaller car, you pay less. Also this will encourage people to buy smaller cars and pollute less.
Of course in Ottawa at least I've been saying "make more bus routes and I won't need a car" and nobody listens... Why make public transportation useful [for the english side of ottawa at least...] when we can gouge you for cars...
Awesome plan except not everyone drives a landyacht gas guzzling SUPER car...
So my 50 km and your 50 km may not use the same gas and therefore won't pollute the same.
If only they had a way to measure this based on the gas consumed... hmmm... maybe tax the gasoline itself?
No, that's too obvious....
I don't know why such obvious ideas are not... obvious to people. Wanna save money? Buy an auto that's suitable to your task. If you're not driving up mountainside with 7 people you don't need an SUV. It's really that simple.
If you're not hauling lumber or soil you don't need a shiny F150 truck.
Get a fucking compact or mid-size and save yourself the money and wear on the environment.
some 16 yr old "foreign" kid will break this, get sued and yet another multi-million dollar technology will fall.
Instead of wasting all this money on "technology" like that and useless super-rich actors [who just don't know the value of a dollar anyways] get studios to hire real talent, at realistic salaries and not go through millions of dollars for a face.
The truth of the matter is if the "scripts" that are sold today were of any substance it wouldn't matter that much who played the role as to the quality of the story. Take XXX [the one with vin diesel or whatever his name is...]. Any 6 ft tall well built person with a shaved head could play that role. Fucking Steve Austin could have played it...
Why did it have to be "Mr. Sir. Knighted. Greater than thou. Vin Diesel?" oh that's right, cuz the script was shite and they're relying on some stupid half recognizable face to play the role.
So instead of investing the money in questionable DRM companies [watermarking is a form of DRM in my books] that are fly-by-get-attacked-and-change-their-name companies and stupid faces who can't act pay to get REAL stories that are of substance.
The problem is essentially it's a business. A studio may only get 2-3 really decent scripts a year but they feel they must pump out 20 movies to saturate the market mind-space with their corporate logos and shit. Sometimes you gotta face reality and just do a good job.
Whatever... I can't wait till the DMCA is applied to someone from europe again...
The point is a future with Intel's inferior technology behind the scene.
They're basically grasping at straws in the PC market. Though they still pwn in other markets [flash memory and sadly servers anyone?]
My client's shop is all-intel and it makes me cry. They're all slow as hell P3 and Xeon boxes. My AMD *laptop* smokes them all. Their excuse is "we buy from Dell only"... not like buying 50 of the same custom box is so hard [or more expensive].
And it takes all of 30 mins to build a PC including the time it takes to write a ghost to disk. So the productivity boost of using a faster computer over several years far outweighs the 30 mins you have to spend to setup a computer...
"Paramount's parent Viacom also owns CBS and a lot of cable channels."
God bless America for sure. Where diversity is a 10 letter sentence...
Personally if they stopped making Enterprise into babylon five or DS9 with the endless battles I'd watch it more. I stopped watching it after season two or so because it just annoyed the fuck out of me.
Deal with what the show is about. Earth => space. E.g. how society dealt with it and grew [e.g. new laws, policies, habbits, customs, problems].
And realize that a series is a story. Stories have endings. unless you're blatantly topical like Law and Order [which I like but because I expect different things from it].
So tell the story of Enterprise properly and then be done with. No reason it should go on for 20 years or something.
Sadly at this point they drove the series into a wall so they'll have to [gasp!] get creative on how to save it.
