    I think there's a blurry line here.

    I'll accept for the sake of argument that the ford pinto with the gas tank problem was statistically not a problem.

    That being said, any corporation that accepts a casualty/loss over safety/loss deserves punitive damages. If it was your family in that wreck that killed them to save the corporation money - would you be as forgiving?

    Millions of slashdot arguments flared up in Rage at that statement :) After all, Micro$oft security problems was well established on /. to be the fault of the OS - and not what the user did....

    I've never had any issues with my Galaxy S5 - but then again, I shut apps off and discard them instead of installing stuff.

    One was the original 386 dx 2 that was pretty nifty, and the next was the Acer Aspire - which sucked ass since it was actually a Packard bell when the company truly sucked at making a PC

    I've been afraid of Acer ever since then. The next compputer I bought was Alienware - a p2-450 (pre-dell)- after that I started building my own.

    Are Acer pc's any good now?

    No, they won't - they will raise rates to make up for lost revenue and offer their TV services for a buck or two over that.

    While I hate the gubment being everywhere in the public life, I'd support them stepping in and regulating a basic cost to connect.

    Everyone who "cut the cord" learns that content is relatively cheap. Forcing those that "Cut the cord" to pay anyway is tantamount to robbery.

    I saw the disease for what it was, and while having a low ICQ account number - I'm proud to not have been a facebook or myspace nitwit.

    All you bottom feeders of facebook and myspace finding the intraweb need to be shot. And the folks that killed Napster - they need to be shot.

    And get the hell off of my lawn.

    Altho, my lawn is presently muddy. and most folks will wait for warmer weather to see the lawn - but most likely won't go past the thorn bushes I planted to deter people from the lawn.

    If I buy a game, I want to play it on any PC I own - and I'm still playing X-Com and Warcraft (yes - I have those discs :)

    Steam sorta got it right - but steam is a gamble cause if it shuts down - anything you bought goes away.

    If you want to "rent" the framework to play, not going to bite - sorry.

    All kidding aside, 40 years from now we'll still be driving our own cars because programmers won't be able to help a car decide if it is allowed to avoid a collision that will kill a driver by swerving onto a sidewalk and killing two pedestrians.

    At least you're bringing a gun to a gun fight - but remember, he's got the edge, you're too busy with the smartphone. By the time you drop it and reach he can shoot in self defense.

    I think a better option would be to not collide with him in the first place. That way you won't get shot.

    I have to wear glasses and would rather not, gas perms and other contacts that I've tried suck - so why would anyone need to wear glasses when they don't need to, or invest in a pair that still has to be upgraded to prescription lenses?

    This whole "glass" thing reminds of ten years ago when the rage was three d gaming in Unreal Tournament - a thing of the future (just like flying cars for everyone).

    That should make the lives of anyone planning the math launches for missions quite a bit more interesting.

    Personally, I hate Satellite Internet - after suffering under a fair use policy and having my bandwidth reduce to 1.2 k under Hughes, I don't see how even having 2400 small satellites in orbit can help, or envision the lag time if they made it work with a large population.

    I read this thread and being new to having a smartphone that I can't root since I bought it for my business and need it to charge credit cards and started panicking.

    So I read thru all the op and then found in the s4 what version I was running, and I am at 4.4.4 so I'm good to go.

    For people not good to go - take the articles, and start calling and screaming at the providers that have you under contract and make them ship you a new phone. That was my plan if I wasn't covered.
