Does the LDS Church affect public policy? I have no doubt it does, through the desires and beliefs of voting citizens who are members of the faith. But, the article you posted isn't referring to public policy at all.
Bullshit!!!!!! Are you telling me that the liquor laws in Utah have nothing to do with the dominate religion of the state. Read the comments from "non-mormons" on this site. I'm talking about people who have moved to Utah. Sometimes you're so deep in your cult that you can't see the forest from the trees.
I recently spent the weekend at a resort in UTAH. I was shocked to find that the local NBC affiliate does not carry Saturday Night Live. You may say to yourself: Self, What does that have to do with that crazy Mormon cult? Well you'll be shocked to find out that the Mormon Church owns Bonneville Communications which owns the NBC affiliate. They find that SNL is too racy for a Utah audience and choose not to air it.
A little south to BYU and you'll find the Mormon media gestapo at work. Youtube is blocked from the university's firewalls not to mention several other sites.. MTV is banned on and off campus for BYU students. It's like China within our own boarders!
It appears the majority of Utards don't mind that a cult controls what can be seen or heard in Utah. Stand up and be heard people!
I've used both databases for years and they both have their place. One thing that is rarely mentioned about Postgresql is the Table inheritance. I have yet to find this feature in another RDMS. Anyone know of a database out there that supports this feature?
It allows you to create a table that inherits the fields of a parent table. Each time you insert data into the child table the parent also gets a record. You can use regular expressions to select from all child tables. Very cool and useful.
I've been watching Compiere for years. The Postgresql port has been in the works for years. I think it's a dead project. I hope I'm wrong but you won't find many messages on the subject in the Compiere forum.
Atheism tends to be a psychological crutch so people can live a life without being accountable. All that nagging guilt gets to them.
Your statement is pure bigotry. Atheists are no more responsible for the "evil" that happens in this world than anyone else. They just lack a scapegoat like the devil.
Why stop at two? The intelligent design theory is a better argument for polytheism than the monotheist Christian theory. The argument for intelligent design is that the world is so complex that it had to have been "designed" by a supreme being. Following this train of thought would lead support a number of Gods.
Maybe we should start teaching Hellenism, Shinto, Wicca and Ásatrú. Bring back the study of Zeus and the spirits of the oak trees. While we're at it we should stir in the creationist beliefs of native Americans.
Or maybe we should just stick to theories that have scientific proof. The lack of evidence to counter Intelligent design does not prove it is a valid theory. The complexity of our world does not provide any more validity to intelligent design than it does to theories(myths) offered by other religions or peoples. It's embarrassing that the leader of the free world would encourage the re-introduction of myth back in our schools.
Leo has been hosting call for help Radio and Television shows for almost 10 years. He's written a number of computer books. I respect his opinion more than a slashdot troll.
I was never a big fan of his Call for Help show on TechTV but when I did watch he seemed to be very bright. He answered Linux, Windows, and Apple questions. Why the hate?
He seems to be a big proponent of Open Source. His site is proudly release under the Creative Commons License. He recomends a number of open source projects on his shows.
It appears to me, and probably every other member of the church who read your post that you're already down that slope that would require a meeting with your Bishop and probably your Stake President fairly soon.
For those that don't know much about the Mormon culture:
Making statements that crontradict the Mormon Church is considered a excommunicable offence. This is the way that the Church attempts to control people who disagree with its teachings.
require a meeting with your Bishop and probably your Stake President fairly soon
Notice how this cultie says "Require". He's inferring that I should be hauled in front of a church court and excommunicated. I just want to let those interested in Mormonism know how it handles those who question and critique.
Brain washing is what happens. Very intense brain washing.
If you believe everything you read on Google and other books like those written by The Tanners or Fawn Brodie and consider them as having more authority over "Personal Revelation", then you are in deed in deep trouble.
If you read and believe exactly the way that you're told to believe and you fail to consider sources like the ones you've mentioned above then you are a brain washed individual. With a single statement you've dismissed these detractors without doing any reasearch whatsoever. Let the brotheren do the thinking for you. Warn those who might be reading. What a joke.
Don't forget books by Todd Compton. Todd Compton enjoys the full benefits of church membership yet he wrote that Joseph Smith had an affair with his 16 year old house maid. True or not? The guy is still a member..
BTW: Nobody is reading your opinions because of your mod history. Don't bother defending the faith. It's like a bear farting in the woods: Nobody is listening.
Where did you get your facts from, the God Makers?
I've never read or listened to anything from the God Makers. I also find it hard to believe that a well informed Mormon would be ignorant to these facts. Have you been a member long? You must be a new member or a very young person if you are ignorant to these facts. Do some research. Don't look at the Ed Decker bullshit. Google. Read books. You'll save yourself 10% before you know it.
This isn't surprising, as the SLC branch of the church doesn't exactly encourage the practice these days, and there's no longer the 10:1 ratio of women to men that they had 150 years ago.
Please don't perpetuate this lie. It is historically inaccurate. There never was a 10:1 ratio of women to men in Mormon history. Here's the facts:
The source for these statistics is the United States Bureau of Census. Utah population: 1850 total 11,380 male 6,046 female 5,334 1860 total 40,273 male 20,255 female 20,018 1870 total 86,786 male 44,121 female 42,665 1880 total 143,963 male 74,509 female 68,454 1890 total 210,779 male 111,975 female 98,804 1900 total 276,749 male 141,687 female 135,062
I was taught the same thing as a young lad. It's simply a huge lie that we tell ourselves to justify an embarassing practice that was created by a crazy cult.
(something that the church is accused of frequently, but, frankly, the evidence for it is shaky at best, usually provided by those seeking to discredit the church [frequently excommunicated members], and objectivity is lacking on their side--it goes without saying that members are not going to be entirely objective--that doesn't make either side's evidence automatically invalid, but you should be careful when relying entirely on one side for evidence).
No I'm not an excommunicated member. I'm a return missionary that was married in the temple that has wised up. I'm still a member on paper.
There's plenty of evidence to support the rewriting of history especially when it comes to race. You'll find that in scriptures previous 1979 that the phrase White and delightsome was changed to pure and delightsome. The abhorrant comments maded by Brigham Young regarding the Negro race have been removed from all the history books published by the LDS Church. Statements from the book Mormon Doctrine no longer contain the racist comments found in the original. That's what I'm talking about.
and objectivity is lacking on their side
Objectivity doesn't exist in a group of brain washed cult members. The brain washing starts at 2 years old and is intense through high school and continues on in college in the form of institute and daily seminary classes.. The product of this brain washing is someone like yourself who can't even grasp the simplest of concepts because they go against years of programming. Wake up brother.
This law is an extention of a cult that attempts to control the way people in Utah think and act. It is similar to the states liquor laws and the Church's attempt to ban free speech on the public propertie that surrounds it.
However, there are at least a couple of different churches that have taken some mormon beliefs and went off on a tangent (Mormon Fundamentalist, Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
The RLDS church never endorsed polygamy. It was formed after the "Saints" left for Utah. The church was organized by the offspring of Joseph Smith, Emma Smith and a number of others. They eliminated the racist attitudes forged by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and were quick to give women the priesthood.
On the subject of polygamy, I wouldn't place them in the same boat as the current LDS church and the fundamental wackos.
It wasn't until the late 70's, I believe, when the Mormon cult retracted their views on blacks, and it wasn't until the very recent massive PR campaign that they try to be acceptable to both the politically correct world and the modern Christian church (even trying to be seen as Yet Another Protestant Denomination).
No There has never been a "retraction". The LDS church has never admitted fault over these statements. They attempt to write it out of their history but an official retraction has never happened.
Leaders of the Mormon church can't admit fault in any part of their doctrine because they claim to be guided by god.
Join the millions of people who choose to fight technology instead of enbracing it.
Laziness killed your business. The digital revolution is powered by hundreds of new products that you could have sold in your record store. Memory, MP3 players, Home audio distribution centers are just some of the products that audiophiles are looking for.
Millions of used CDs are sold on Amazon, Half and Ebay daily. Have you modified your sales tactics to take advantage of this? I'm sure the answer is no.
You also fail to put your customer first. Blacklisting customer!?!? What the fuck ever happenned to making the customer #1. Your tactics will fail in any business.
This evening, my daughters asked me. "Why do the other kids laugh at us?"
I wanted to tell them the truth - it's because they wear old clothes and have cheap haircuts. I can't afford anything better for them right now.
Tell them the truth. You have crappy hair cuts because You're too stupid to adapt.
You're here preaching to a technical crowd who has seen their jobs shipped over-seas daily. People in the tech industry have to re-invent their careers every three years in order to stay employed. It's extremely rare to find a techie that has been doing the same thing for 12 years. Why the fuck do you think you'd find any sympathy on this board.
Google didn't ruin you. Take some accountability and get off your ass and do something about it. Or keep preaching your sob story and get in the un-employment line!
Science debunks many religious myths, but this interjection of yours is nonsense.
Actually it completely debunks the migration of people from the middle east to the Americas. The "Lamanite" people of the Book of Mormon are claimed to be "direct decendants" of the Nephi and his family. The mitochondral DNA clearly shows that Native Americans or (Lamanites as you call them) are of Mongolian decent. I'd say that pretty well debunks Mormonism.
Any other conclusion would requires ignorance to the laws of science.
But, I suppose you were simply pandering to your own anti-religious lusts.
Yeah you nailed me there.
DNA evidence can be used to prove the impossibilty of many Old Testament myths. Take the belief in a global flood. An evolutionary chain can be established for each species found today. Comparing the DNA of ancient preserved DNA can clearly show that a global flood never occured. It can establish the migration and evolution of species. Given the breadth of species and location of various species through-out all continents: one can easily dismiss the Myth called the flood.
Isn't it amazing that we can convict a suspect of murder with a 99.99% certainty using DNA evidence but the religious reject it if it goes against their beliefs.
The best case of DNA invalidating a religion is Mormonism. The founder of Mormonism claimed to have translated a book that was written by a people that migrated from the Middle East to the American continent. He claimed that these immigrants were the "priciple ancestors" of the modern day American Indian.
Well it turns out that DNA proves what science has been saying for years. The American Indian is of Asiatic decent. Any other examples of DNA destroying a religion?
Everybody knows that the earth was built using a cast of characters including: The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and 3 of the 4 Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles. (Rafael, Donnatello, Leonardo)

You my friend are a brain washed liar. Here's an article from your very own school.

It's well know that the Mormon church influences public policy in Utah and this is one such issue.
Stop lying to defend the Lord!
