    I am a life long member of the LDS Church. This statement, assuming it to be true, is appalling. If any political literature, let alone a petition, is passed around on any church property, let alone any meeting, that is a blatent violation of published church policy. Period.

    Do a little research. In the 70s the LDS church crushed the Equal Rights Amendment by organizing in Stakes and church house across the country. The church was against equal rights for women in the workplace. ERA Article

    In Idaho, The Mormon church organized in opposition of a statewide lottery. You're kidding right?

    This is an old tactic of Microsoft. Thow out backwards compatibility and force an upgrade. I think most M$ users are used to this by now. If you want to keep up with the latest and greatest you have to rewrite to take advantage of the cool new features. This has been going on since the beginning.

    It will continue as long as developers are still willing to take the dirty sanchez that Microsoft has to offer. Microsoft is in it for the MONEY only. Advancement of computer science is not a concern.

    Please Mr. Gates point me to the SQL driver for Linux. I know that FreeTDS exists but it's not supported by Microsoft. The interoperability that Billy speaks of is not due to efforts by Microsoft. Quite the opposite. It's been Microsofts goal to make non-M$soft software a failure on its platforms. Sure Java works in windows despite Microsoft's attempt to make it a failure. Stop shitting in our mouths and calling it fudge..

    I work for a company that attempts to protect its customers from this kind of fraud. We monitor domain registrations to locate potential phishing scams. It's interesting to see that it's not only banks that are hit with this kind of scam. These guys will set up an entire shopping cart taking credit cards that mimick an online store like Dell. It's a pretty interesting scam that only seems to be gaining popularity.

    It's not a major concern in the 3rd world so these guys have no reason to stop. We've seen scams like this based out of Russia, Brazil, China, and several African countries. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

    I'd love to see a technology boom in Brazil. What a perfect place to live. Beautiful country. Beautiful weather. Perfect beaches. I'd never choose a position in Brazi over India.     This brought a painful flashback of the movie Freddie Got Fingered. Probably the worst movie ever made. Tom Green's character is a parapolegic that builds a rocket powered wheel chair. Maybe this was the inspiration?

    their spare time while Microsft's IIS has an actual professional full
    fledged development team devoted to it.


    I guess we'd better call Google and let them know. Linux can't hack it. While we're at it lets call Amazon.com and let them know. For a product that is not professional it continues to be far and away the most popular Web server on the net. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but Microsoft has lost the web server war. It will continue to be popular with VB programmers and system admins since it's so easy. Good luck and thanks for the FUD.

    Not to mention the progressive stance on race. People have dark skin because their ascestors were evil. Black prohibbited from holding the priesthood till 1978. The church's stance that homosexuality is a sin close to that of murder. I'd say they're almost as progressive as the KKK.

    Those books found aren't written word for word spanning multiple chapters and each book contains discrepancies. This is a good example of a straw man defense. Bravo.

    Another note: Authorship of the New Testaments is not known. What is know is that they are of Greek origin and were written at least 100 years after the death of the Jesus Christ. Similarities may indicate authorishp by a single individual or a close knit group of authors.

    If you really want to have some fun you should take a look at the word Lucifer in the Book of 2cnd Nephi. It was a mistake in the King James Vesion of the Bible. It also appears in the Book of Mormon. Pretty Hillarious!

    I'm perpetually amazed that so many don't condemn the SCO parasites and call them what they are as it goes so much against church teachings of open-paradigm systems.

    Especially considering that Joseph Smith copied huge sections from the Bible into the Book of Mormon. You'll find Isaiah word for word in 2cnd Nephi and tons of the New Testament scattered throughout the book. The Mormons certainly don't have a problem with plagiarism.

    Amazon.com hires Perl programmers at a pretty good rate. Perl continues to be one of the top languages on the net. You statement is pretty rediculous. Check jobs.perl.org if you think people can't make money writing perl. You statement is quite ignorant.

    Yesterday I had an enlightening experience. As I waited for my wife to have a procedure done, I listened to a couple of blue haired ladies talking about a laptop that a 40 something lady had in the waiting room. They were talking about viruses and spyware and other things that cause Irrital Bowl Syndrome. They were so ignorant as to how spyware and malware gets installed. They thought that some guy hack in and installs it when they dial up AOL. Other wild theories were thrown out but I didn't bother correcting them.

    Unfortunately, this is very representative of a good portion of computer users. They're scared shitless and completely ignorant. It's no wonder viruses, trojans, adware and malware are so successful.

    Why is it that Utah's main export is annoyance?
    You have the SCO scandal that has burrowed under the skin of all of those working for a truly great an noble cause.

    Now you have this judge allowing some scumbag company allowing spyware to continue to infect and annoy unsuspecting users. You might put the onus on the users of the computers but when my 6 year old son is just trying to play a game on cartoonnetwork.com and unsuspectingly clicks on a pop up that installs software on the family computer, I just can't blame the user.

    I've spent hours cleaning up the computers of friends and family members and I've reached a boiling point.

    And as if SCO and spyware weren't enough, Utah seems to be a hotbed of multi-market scams. Take Nu Skin for instance. What is it about Utah that makes it such a hotbed for these kind of annoying scams?

    Overall Mormons have an impressive outreach program and a very diversified culture. Most do not speak english (check lds.org). Their humanitarian efforts in Africa I believe show that, if they had provincial attitudes before, they have outgrown them.

    I call bullshit. I served a mission for the LDS church in a third world country. Very little of the tithes and offerings are given in humanitarian aid. The money is spent on it's members only.

    Overall the total amount of money spent on humanitarian aid is insignificant. Don't believe me? Take a look at the financials that are published by your church. Oh wait. They don't publish any of that information so nobody could possibly come to this conclusion:
    Their humanitarian efforts in Africa I believe show that,

    If you take history in perspective and look at Mormons overall rather than a few cherrypicked phrases you will find that they have done some serious good for people of all races.

    I know this church inside and out. There was no other major religion that prohibitted black participation as late as the 1970s. You spin is paralell to the spin that Gordon B Hinkley likes to put on this issue.

    Also important to note that our nations founders were politicians. You're using politicians as a yardstick to God's voice on the Earth.

    This is like saying, "Yeah I know that the Apostles Peter, James and John made some racist statements but you should have heard what Pontus Pilate said." Don't compare "Men of God" to politicians. Try to hold your "Lord's annointed" to a higher standard.

    You cannot remove a statement from the era it was spoken in. Now if you can find a modern apostle saying something similar in a modern conference, please let me know.

    The claim is that these guys are God's representatives on the Earth. They speak for Christ and are special witnesses of him. They have the gift of prophesy and are accepted as seers. I'd have to say that this statement was pretty damn short sighted. Which will lead you to my conclusion that these guys are no different than anyone else.

    You're starting to thing for yourself now....

    As for your assertion that the majority of Americans have a negative opinions of Mormons, I take issue with that.

    For more information on this statement read Mormon America by Richard Ostling. You'll find the details on the study there. Don't worry. It's not "anti-mormon" so you won't go to hell for it.

    Where exactly did the LDS church retract all these dreadful racist statements. I don't recall every hearing an apology or even a retraction. Since these are statements coming from the top you'd at least expect some kind of retraction or recantation. Even Strom Thurmond apologized for his bigotry.

    Did you know that the majority of Americans have a negative opinion of Mormons in general. Despite all the PR. It's probably because of Satan. He's working so nobody can see the truth. This cult has so much mind control that you probably believe that.
