An obvious scam the government can't afford to shut down because of the taxes it brings in? We have one of those too... its called the tobacco industry.
We have 4 dedicated servers with about 20 IP's spread across them and started getting mail rejections. This turned out to be because the whole range if IP's the hosters had used got blacklisted by spamhaus for exactly the reason stated in the article - one other "customer" had spammed with his IP's so spamhaus just added the whole range to their RBL.
GSM is a pretty darn well-defined spec. The FCC compliance process takes months and is amongst the strictest in the business. You either conform completely or you don't get a licence. So WTF are these flavours you speak of?
If any of those machines had really found aliens this guy would have quite possibly become the most famous man who ever lived. Instead he's off burger flipping if he's lucky.
Well, you sure never hear of iPhones being used like this. Whether it's Androids open source or the multitasking that's triggered it I don't know, but I do get the feeling we'll be hearing a lot more off-handset application stories in the future.
Unfortunately the usual places carry the lot. One conspiracy theory goes that as Google at heart are an advertising company, rather than play DRM/lockdown why not "encourage" authors to give away apps funded by ads - in which case what does piracy matter?
Lets face it - the Android Market mechanism itself sucks. If they were gonna do a desktop buy-n-sync system, the iTunes model is the one to follow. Looks like they are just following Apples pattern.
"Hi! I'm Crappy, your personal handset buddy. I noticed you pressed a number on your phone keypad. It looks like you're trying to make a call. Would you like me to continue to interfere with this even though you almost certainly know what you want to do?".
Man that just flicked the coolest retro switch in my head ... guess its time to read Neuromancer again.

It must be purely a co-incidence that Google Voice is rumoured to be coming on the Android Googlephone real soon now. ;-)
Its all about consumer choice see, and a zillion incompatible ones sure gives the user that all right.

4G is IP only - it *only* carries data. Perhaps Googles adoption of voice over the current 3G system will speed up 4G developments.
As long as its not cancer you're fine, because it was only 5 minutes ago that the chair thrower was telling the world thats what OSS is.
If you were one of the busiest 1000 sites on the net you'd pull in $1m in what - a week?
Oh sorry, thought were were talking funky distro names.
Those same diseases were what killed many of the people they "conquered", the natives having no immunity to them at all.
Comes with Super Mario Incontinence Bathroom Run
Another format to write for, because like iPhone, Android, J2ME, Symbian, WebOS, & win mobile just isn't stretching us enough.
Those pesky end of life deadlines keep getting pushed back, even though we'll all be on Windows 666, the "fastest most secure OS we've ever launched"
Lets hope it never gets tested!
