I remember a movie reviewer that was a real stuffed shirt, but I'd pay attention to his reviews. When he panned a movie, I put it high on my must-watch list. If he loved a movie, then I knew it would be a bore.
"1) You have a tank with no Hedgehog add-on. It rolls up to a hedge. it is a heavy tank. Because it's heavy, it pushes forward and crushes the hedges underneath it. or not."
"Or not" is correct. The tanks, heavy or not, could not push forward and crush the hedges.
"Tobor...The Eight Man" was the intro, or something like that. I was fairly young when I first saw that, and was might pleased when I figured out the puzzle. Saw it on UHF with the other Japanese cartoons. That, Speed Racer and Kimba.
On a semi-related note, I thought the mouth moving with no voice, and visa versa, was funny. Many years later, went to Japan, and turned on a TV. There was a dubbed John Wayne movie. We laughed, then got bored. Their idea of a John Wayne voice did not appeal. So we turned down the volume and made our own dialogue. Good times. MST3k in the 70's!
Even without this, it's way too easy to cheat online. From simple collusion between multiple players, to bottom-feeders that spend all their time collecting a few bucks playing several nickle-ante games at once, it all adds up.
On the internet, there is no such thing as a friendly game of cards.
I prayed to God. I asked about all the war and strife. Then I read the Bible. Genesis.
Where the favored tribes ran around smiting everyone (per God's will). About a God that sure was cranky. Genocide. Crazy men ready to kill their children because of the voices in their heads.
We are now able to deduce the presence of planets due to a minuscule dimming or wobble of the star. Yes, I expect ET to be able to detect all kinds of faint phenomena.
I imagine that if they wanted to broadcast "Bang the rocks together, guys", they'd use EM. OTOH, if they want a certain level of tech, they might base it on something else, such as dark energy or whatever.
If we look at it like most human colonizations, they'll just show up one day and start hanging around. And then more. And more...
Troo enuf, spelling fonetikaly duz make peeps saund unedicated. If I remember right, Geo. Washington tried to simplify English spelling (actually I don't think I remember right. I'm *sure* someone here will be, er, kind enough to correct me as to who it was).
OTOH, the message was communicated, he knows what an Edelbrock is, can actually work on his truck. Something I wouldn't be surprised was beyond more than a few Slashdotters. Different knowledge domains.
if we're gonna ask permission to teach about scientific topics that people may not 'believe' in, then we need to begin asking permission to teach any science at all.
It's science. Belief isn't required. Quite the opposite.
But you want us to believe in the idea that humans are the main cause of climate change?

They needed hedge-clippers.
I agree. I'm not sure why the vile about this. Except, I guess, "on the internet".

Ok, you got me. Not cheating. But on the same moral level as seal clubbers.

You almost had it:
Gravitational waves
shoot through the Universe
like touching
a spider's web
Burma Shave

And I said "Oh".
I tend to agree with you.

When They Invade, they will come broadcasting "It's a small world, after all".
Lessee if I can do this from memory...
VHF is 100 megahertz
FM is megahertz
AM is kilohertz
LR is centihertz(?)
VLR is hertz
Something like that.
Interesting post.

We may want to build a fence.
Look up "To Serve Man".
"Personally I see no disagreement between science and religion. One tells you how and the other tells you why."
I pretty much agree with that sentiment. For arbitrary values of how and why, of course.

No, humans are the main cause of science.
Is being in the first 10k years of an inter-glacial considered to have much of an effect?
I am one. You, sir, are the square root of minus one.
Kosovo. No oil. Your hypothesis is falsified.
So...it was in the meteorology books too?

Perhaps your time in class was what enabled you to get something out of history and journals.
