(was gonna be a long post till I started over. unlike consumer electronics, corporate cable electronics is a you figure it out sort of thing. no appreciable support. the cable companies use proprietary software in the head end and on the boxes. developed in house this software dictates user experience and features. motorola as owned by google would have no say in the direction cable will go. not to mention comcast for example can use scientific atlanta boxes, now cisco boxes if they want to move away from google. imho google wants a way to push semi unlimited data plans if only by taking advantage of its internal network and ad $ generated by its phone users

  7. docsis 3.0 on Time Warner Cable to Test Tiered Bandwidth Caps · · Score: 0

a few things need to be considered when looking at what cables "limited" bandwidth. First all bandwidth has a limit for what can be sent down the line downstream signal is from 54 mhz to 800 in my area with aprox 400 digital channels of which about 30 are high def and 70 are analog.
745 mhz spread tells us we can fit 124 channel paths in the forward path per node
about 10 digital channels can be carried in one 6 mhz analog channel path
about 5 hd channels per 6 mhz spread
400 digital channels divided by 10 per path gives us 40 channel paths
70 plus 40 is 110 used channel paths out of 124 this is not however the total network load with fiber and nodes this is strictly the limit per node ie last mile
in that last mile the 70 or so channels being taken up by analog will go away in 09 freeing up 700 digital channels 350 hd channels or 21000 mbs per last mile (last mile is not always the last mile the number of subscribers is taken into node count for a given area
even with most populated nodes at 400 subs per node the extra bandwidth is 52 mbs per sub, we already have the channels we need converted to digital so that does not need to be figured into the "new" bandwidth, also we have tested our network to at least 1 ghz and are being pushed hard to get our network to 1 ghz thats an additional 200 mhz or 33 data paths 9900 mbs other new tech such as multi streaming (feeding multiple subs the same stream will utilize our network more efficiently.

not to beat a dead horse but once again the idea is that photons have a gravitational effect no matter how small on a cosmic scale that is a lot of small, with that said if you took all of the electromagnetic energy that is speeding across the universe unstopped what would its value be?

  9. Re:Technically, neutrinos are dark matter on Dark Matter — "Alternative Gravity" Team Responds · · Score: 2, Insightful

but,,, when looking at electron even with their small mass i ask what is the mass of every electron ever traveling in space since the start of the universe also what about the expansion of the universe is their a crest of mass at the "edge" of the universe, perhapse the extra mass is only reflected to us as a result of the distortion that exists as a result of the expantion of the universe, ie light that we see is old so a possible explanation is that there is a fraction diffrence between the speed of light and the speed of gravitons just rambling

the only time you can view photons is if they are traveling tward you. as far as the grouping of dark matter photons are probably more or less evenly distributed on a macro scale and uneven on a micro scale(remember scale is relative to the entire universe)

  11. why would matter be dark on Dark Matter — "Alternative Gravity" Team Responds · · Score: 0

regardless of their energy potential why does dark matter have to be dark? what has been done to look at the mass of all of the photons in the universe. no matter what some people say they have to have some mass. think about it, all of the photons that have ever been created, unless they run into something will continue to travel accross the universe. since the beginning of the universe their has to be quite a few of them
