A lot of medical equipment which has helped to make health care cheaper (as opposed to lawsuits and insurance companies which has made it more expensive) has come directly or indirectly from the space program.
One instance were little valves in an apparatus that was draining my mothers chest cavity after heart surgery that were developed from valves that were used on the Apollo Command Module's human waste disposal system.
I could go on, but answer this. People who thought like you got Apollo canceled for the same reason. Is Socialized Medicine any more of a reality here in the USA in 2003 than in 1976?
Sounds like you just hate Bush and don't want one of his ideas to succeed. Kinda transparent.
Stanford University's Douglas Osheroff told AP. In any event, "I think we're still 30 years from going to Mars and if there's any reason to do that, I don't know"
So if we listened to him and did nothing, then Mars would always be thirty years away. Convenient quote for all the folks who don't ever want us to leave the planet. Or just hate Bush so much that they'd rather see him fail more than see a space program he initiated succeed.
I'm sure a lot of people wanted Apollo to die because it made Nixon look good even though it was initiated by a Democrat.
Who's to say the day we land on Mars, Hillary Clinton wont be the one making the (9 minute delayed) phone call and getting all the political mileage.
Just a though for all of you who want this to go away because it's "Shrubs" idea.
Ugh, don't go anywhere near Entourage. Exchange support (thru the update) is only for Exchange servers with IMAP turned on. LDAP support is still disabled (or is it the other way around? I forget, I'm just a Mac fag and am not good with acronyms)
-Apple iMac DV SE Spring 2000: $1300 -RAM upgrade from 128MB to 256MB: $98 -Yearly Updates to the MAC OS: $129 (and well worth it) -The fact that said machine is still sitting on my desk, still looking cool, churning away with OSX 10.3, original partitions and no further problems when any other piece of hardware from Spring 2000 would most likely be landfill fodder: Priceless.
Adobe Photoshop?... Graphic Converter ($30 Shareware) Adobe Illustrator? Comparable Linux alternative? Microsoft Office? TextEdit, OpenOffice (free) Outlook? No thanks, I'll use Mail.app (free) Media Player? VLC Player (free)
That is if the whole thing doesn't go into arbitration and drag out another four weeks... the Playlers Union did reject the contract restructuring for A-Rod....... I agree on Nomar staying BTW.
Hey if Boston is good enough for Curt Schilling, Keith Foulke and A-Rod it should be good enough for LinuxWorld!
I've watched "The Lowdown" and decided to give it a chance.
Okay, I'll admit that I think Grace Park (the "new" Boomer) is hot and will probably be one of the main reasons I watch.
But the effects look good (including the 'snapzoom' effect ripped off from Lucas and Episode 3) and how cool is it going to be to see a planet full of badly dressed people carpet nuked from space?
Disclaimer: I'm a lame-o who thinks the Original has aged well.
Germany's autobahn fatality rates are lower than the USA's equivalent, although overall the rates are slightly higher.
The UK's rates are about half those, and one of the lowest in the world. This is attributed to a higher standard of driving and more widespread use of seatbelts and motorcycle helmets.
It may also be the fact that drivers in Northern Europe have to take professional lessons to be licensed and we Americans practically get our licenses out of Cracker Jack boxes.
Plus in the USA you can be a licensed driver in most places at 16 yrs old. Take these variables into account and the numbers say something completely different.
Basically you can use stats to say anything you want.
...banned media... coverage of returning killed soldiers.
This isn't new, the War Dept. under Roosevelt did it in WW2.
The first ever photos of American dead (at Tarawa) weren't released until many many months later.
It is also so that the folks who happen to be relatives of these unfortunate people don't have the images of their dead sons / daughters showing up on CNN or some anti-war protester's billboard.
I actually ditched Limewire for Acquisition a while ago and just recently I ditched Acquisition for Poisoned which does gnutella, kazaa and GifT... it's a bitch getting downloads to complete though.
After all that, Limewire still always seems to find and download the most stuff... but with the most hideous user experience.
Oh well...

Mega Monday Updates

Actually it seems that the new Exchange support for Entourage is pretty weak. Seems LDAP, IMAP et al needs to be turned on on the exchange server for it to work. This was a work around for previous incarnations of Entourage, so it's a pretty lame update.
I'm sure more folks will be able to articulate this better in further posts.
Actually freedom by definition is being able to do whatever you want while being aware of the consequences. If there was technology that limited my freedom to drive my car as fast as it could there would be no need for a law then would there? If I want to drive 75 in a 65 mph zone, I am free to do so. That cranky State Trooper by the side of the highway is also free to give me a ticket, and my insurance company is free to up my premiums.
Laws limit lawlessnes by creating an environment where the consequences outweigh what one may gain by breaking the law. The freedom to decide this for ones self is the basis for all our freedoms.
Election laws are no different. Some folks have concluded that the means outweigh the extremes in this regard.
It's what we pay to live in a "free" society. It ain't perfect, but I'll take it over the alternative.
I got a tax cut, I must be rich!
Thanks, you just made my day.
Shortsighted statement ... and very cliche.

From the article.

"(I work at NASA) ... To much to say."
... I hope you just mistyped that.
You work at NASA but don't know the difference between To and Too?
Aw man
Y'know, I thought it looked familiar ... didn't Starbuck nail a chick on the Botanical Ship in one episode?
Did you notice that the "Colonial Heavy" that became "Colonial One" identified itself by registry number "1701"?
I thought that was cool.
You must've liked watching the little girl in the botanical ship get nuked then ...
yikes.
LOL
Voltar was Battle of the Planets IIRC
I used to get them confused too.
Windows 98 on 38 Dells
Sounds like a real hoot. Can I play too?
Actually sounds like something you wake up in a cold sweat from.

... no.
Um

Well, I just paid $.99 for April Come She will by Simon and Garfunkel ... it's 1:53.
... that's 8:56.
I also paid $.99 for Waltz for Koop by Koop
Y'know, it all works out in the end.

Hey Sci-Fi is doing a Battlestar Galactica Mini-series in December.
It's all coming together.
Yeah, but does it fix Limewire ...
...
That was joke by the way
We'll know when SCO goes after Apple.
Hey, It could happen right?

I for one, am totally disheartened by it.
just a heads up.
