  1. I have to say one thing. on Using Macs In The Work Place · · Score: 4, Interesting

The author appears to have done zero research into how to get a Mac talking on a Windows network, if he had done maybe 1-2 hours of research, he would have saved himself 2-3 weeks of grief. Instead of not having any clue on how he got it to work, he would have known exactly how to set things up how he wanted. I don't get it, why spend the money on a Mac if you are not prepared to do any research on how to make it do the things you need to do? Would you buy a car without knowing whether or not it came with an engine? Or if that engine would play nice with your gas? I ordered a 12" Powerbook and I am going to make damn sure I can make it play nice with any other boxes/servers that I may have to interact with (Windows, Linux, other Macs, etc.) by the time it gets here.

Ok let's put it like this. This would be like making a camper shell for your truck out of papier mache and duct tape, and having it look ugly as shit, or just buying a damn camper shell. OR, like putting your home stereo in your car's backseat and running cables to your receiver, instead of buying a car cd player. I realize the "I can" factor, but why waste the time and effort when an easier solution is out there.

This has to be like the dumbest "mod" I have ever seen. If the regular GBA isn't big enough or have a full featured gamepad, get a gameboy player, see you can get a screen for the gamecube and a battery pack. That would cost about the same and not void any warranties. This mod is moot.

I may have to dig out the old keyboard and try this for myself. I think my monitor is wonky though. And I do have that sweet 128 cartridge that plugs into the back of the keyboard. Okay, what if someone photocopied, say, your credit card info, or your social security card, would you care then? If you have no compassion for corporations, go get a job from a homeless guy. Corporations make money, to pay salaries for their workers, and also overhead costs and such. It isn't like there are obscene amounts of money, a lot of times all they want to do is break even, then worry about making a profit. So stealing is OK, as long as it is a big faceless corporation? Contrary to popular opinion, the evil corporation is a minority. The only reason it pops to mind is that you don't hear about the companies that treat people well, and such. It is just like the news, how often is there positive stuff? It is usually fire, murder, fire, hurricane, fire, murder, stabbing, shooting, sports, weather. It doesn't mean that positive stuff doesn't happen, it is just that it isn't being reported because it is "boring." I hope at least some of this post makes sense. :)

  13. OK, time for the unpopular answer. on RIAA Sues 12-Year Old Girl · · Score: 1

Here is my take on the whole situation. File "sharing" is stealing. It isn't bucking authority, or sticking it to the RIAA, that is just a cop-out, a way to justify it to yourself. If this music is so "shitty" these days that you will not buy it, why it is OK to some to steal it? The RIAA is being very draconian in their tactics, I am not defending them at all. But, on the other hand, how would you feel if someone came into your house every day and stole something from you, not very much huh. That is a big problem in our society, no one has any empathy or compassion for their fellow human being, everything is me me me. I think the record companies are moving in the right direction in cutting prices on CDs. I will buy a cd for 13, but not for 20. (Target usually has them cheap anyway.) This story does scream FAKE to me too, but, that is just my opinion. /karma

I like it, people like to pick on things that are popular just to be "different", I am not ashamed to admit I like Debian. I like the network install idea, so you only install what you want/need, without bloat. It is best done with a tour guide, ie. elder geek (that isn't a dickhead). It works fine for me, I am not on the bleeding edge of technology anyway. Just every once in a while apt-get update, can't remember the proper syntax, but it is that simple. I have a piece of paper that lists what packages I need when I do a clean install. It is pretty small compared to what comes with a lot of linux distros.
