As a veteran, I resent your "brainwashing" assertion. Maybe to some it has that effect, but "brainwashing" in the military is no different than the "brainwashing" in any training. The fact is, in the military the stakes of your training are much higher - you are training people to deal with real life or death situations. The emperative is on accomplishing the mission, much like anything else you could learn to do, the difference is you could die if you fail in the military. Yes, this requires a certain amount of faith in leadership, but that is the nature of the military.

I purchased mine BEFORE the video ipod came out. I bought it specifically because there wasn't ipod video available, and I dislike the closed nature of the ipod. Additionally they already have a successor to the x5 called the a2 due out soon, which even the most zealous of iPod lovers have to admit blows the iPod away. http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/cowon/a2/ Yeah, the ipod video has ALMOST caught up to their old offering, but it isn't even close to their a2.

So you are telling me that what has happened in these corrupt societies is a reflection of the original visionary? Without the little dictionary, there would be no communist societies - since the term would not exist. Since the term does exist as a produt of a vision, you should probably understand the original vision if you want to engage in broadbrush condemnation. Not doing so is like condemning various methods of transportation since people often die using them. Condemning commies went out with McCarthyism.

  10. Re:Global Warming Myth on ESA Cryosat Launch Reported Failure · · Score: 2, Insightful

You are confused about communism. Communism doesn't neccessarily surpress freedom. Human nature surpresses freedom. Those in power seek to maintain their power - in any government. Communism is flawed because it seems to encourage mediocrity. Capitalism conquers that, but encourages greed. Most governments are flawed in one basic way or another - there is entrophy in any system, the flaws will amplify over time. As Thomas Jefferson said:

1787 Nov. 13. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure." (to W. S. Smith, B.12.356)

Basically to retain freedom, you must reset the system from time to time. Radical? - maybe. Undeniable? - definitely.

I think if you had my ex-girlfriend you would understand the separation of logic and emotion. Yes, emotion drives decision making, but the more extreme the emotion, the less logical the response. Since women have been socially conditioned to be emotional, they embrace their emotions. This causes chemical reinforcement from the pituitary gland and an addiction to the peptides responding their emotions. This process reinforces itself until there is an inability to think logically for the most part as you are always juiced on emotions.

In fact, I wonder if the outcome of the last 2 PRESIDENTIAL elections would be the same. You think the reds in WA are pissed, I wonder if they are as pissed as every non-Republican in the country.

You wishing for a "fair" election reminds of the phrase "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it."

I know this is not what you said - I wouldn't expect any Republican to wish for a fair election. It might reflect the true will of the people and illustrate just how out of touch you are. Then you would have to go through that whole wrestling with your world view being wrong, then justify changing to the new winning side. We know how Republicans hate to be wrong.
