  1. I Hate Katz! on Review: The Rock as a Hard Place · · Score: -1, Flamebait

    Now THAT is sarcasm.

  2. I don't know what subject to give this... on Globalism Post 9/11 · · Score: 1

While I know for a fact that most countries truly hate de U.S. (as much as most Linuxers hate the M.S.), I think the hatred is mostly directed towards the american way of life. Bush would call it "Freedom haters", probably because he can't admit that his country CAN be wrong on some issues.

Now, about globalism, I think it is a Good Thing . I don't think U.S. hatred should interfere with it because globalism is all about not giving the power to one country. I think people should start to see the bottom line in all this and stop complaining. Maybe I'm an egoist North-American (Canadian), but to my eyes, it can only help, and I don't see why it could hurt third-world countries...maybe I don't know the complete story about this, feel free to corect me.

Well, I think that if they really did this on purpose, EarthLink would have find out that Road Runner was trying to piss off their customers. I mean, if once a week, some people's connection seems to go dead, it's really obvious that someone, somewhere is tampering with it...It would be way too dangerous for Road Runner to try something like this.

Most of the time, the simplest explanation is the best, so, maybe EarthLink just plainly sucks.

N.B. I like your comment, I'm not trying to discredit you in anyway, just the tendancy that people who say they'll be modded have to get modded up. I find it ironic.

Damn it, it's EDITORIAL COMMENTS. That means you don't have to agree, but that doesn't mean he's an idiot or incompetent.

If you are not happy with his view on the internet or the industry in general why not write your own website with editorial comments about whatever you like?

Come on people, give the poor guy a break!

Is just a little respect baby.

I think the basics of management should be about respecting the intelligence of your employes (not only true for technical workers, everyone has an intelligence of their own).

I think the worst PHB that one can possibly have is one that acts like "ohh, they can't understand cause they don't get the big picture". Most of the time, employees (or ressources) have a pretty good understanding of what is going on in a given project. Some of them may even know more than you tought they should know, just by simple deduction.

when it comes to techies (I manage three of them), I think that the key is to make them feel usefull, that they belong here. (unless they aren't being usefull and don't belong here)

Leave them some space and time to think, you'll be rewarded with both results and a friendly place to work.

Let's say that [insert legal technicalities here ] any software maker who's making profitable buisiness out of IP have to be liable for it's product.

It could work pretty much the same way amateur secourists do. If someone fails to save a life by doing Heinmeich Maneuvre (not sure how to spell it) on someone else, they won't be sued for criminal negligence or anything like that. But if a doctor kills someone be giving a bad dosage of some drug, it can be a totally diffrent story. I think.

    Oh and another thing.

In history, violence seems to be linked to lack of nudity.

The most war-infested times were times where women were never seen, exept for reproduction. What's a guy supposed to do when he gets bored?

Today we spend our time with our S.O. and/or looking for a S.O. and/or looking for PrOn.

Back then, they spent their time arguing and fighting over trivial issues like Who's god is Right and Who's god is Wrong. Of course, war over religion still happens, but surprisingly enough, in countrys where women have to be hiden behind LOTS of stuff...

    It speaks for itself.

Violence is a Bad Thing, it kills people. (Colombia High-Shcool anyone?)

I have seen movies of autopsies where we see a person's guts exposed but the genitals are blured, why? What's so shocking about genitals compared to guts?

    I just don't get it.

It's probably ok that there is some censorship on hardcore PrOn but give me a break, naked breasts and/or butts aren't really offensive...even for a 5 y.o. kid.

This whole software bundling issue. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Linux AND Windows NT sysadmin. At home, I use Windows most of the time because the software I use to create music in my spare time (Cubase) does not run on Linux (yet). But anyway, that's not the point...

I just wanted to say that I actualy like the fact that all this software is included in Windows 2000, why? Because it's all "windows friendly" in the way that all is connected with everything else in OLE and DDE. I know these are usable for other software vendors but for some reason, it's just not as transparent as when it is Microsoft native stuff. All their software looks and acts the same (if it works well is another story...), I feel confort in the fact that I won't have any interface surprises with them as opposed to some other vendors who put stuff "just because it can be done".
