Dammit... not only did it open like 200 copies of the same thing, it made them like 50,000 by 300 (width by height) big. On my 1024x768 screen, I kept trying to pull the window over to try and close it (of course, I could have hit the control menu then close, but I'm lazy). Thank god for Alt-F4.
Interesting though, how Win2k's task manager wouldn't kill any of the IE windows. That's yet another problem here in Windows-ville.
I wish I could have read the Berlin vs. X faq. Berlin looks promising. But it'll take a while to get accepted. And in this community, getting acceptance is hard enough.:-(
Sure, they didn't buy Be. They just bought their Intellectual Property (IP). That's like me purchasing your heart and lungs from you for a good price so I can improve my own body functions. Surely, you can survive without them right? No, your body will fold up all operations (read: die) just like Be plans to fold up their operations after Q4 2001.
I meant in Win98, not 2k. Unfortunately, I work in a 98 shop. I'm trying to get them to move to Win2k. It's just a pain. People here think the blue screen is normal.
In contrast, a look around most Windows-using offices shows more blue default screens than anything else.
I guess people are so used to crashes that the BSoD is pretty much a common screen. If I had a dime for each time I've seen "Scandisk is scanning your PC... next time shut Windows down properly", I would have as much money as Bill Gates. Hey, wait a second...

The more Netscape keeps releasing beta code, the more users it's alienating. I know it's tough not having the latest and greatest 5.x (err 6.x) browser to market, but come on. By the time we get to 6.2 (i.e. Mozilla 1.0 stable), there will be five Netscape users left.
Remember when the new execs changed the format of Wayne's show? It instantly went from having a homegrown, honest feel to being the artificial, try-to-please-everyone variety.
"Extreme Hardware" will be just like Wayne's World after the big brass moved in. It may want to be homegrown, but it can't help but stink of a distrustful corporate influence.
Thankfully, nobody important jumped ship and tried to become part of that. We should reward them and continue to support the homegrown variety hardware site for as long as we can.
Could you imagine an Extreme Tech column written by, say Tom Pabst, who was pulled over after Tom's Hardware had to shut down due to lack of capital? Let's say he did some review on memory technologies and let's say the "unbiased" review would be sponsored by Rambus. Of course, he'd be "encouraged" to give the sponsor some good press time.
Imagine him doing something similar to what Wayne did when Wayne had to interview one of the top brass from his show's sponsor: Tom would do the review as promised but he couldn't help but put in subtle little pop-up windows or mouseovers that would say "Rambus blows goats. I have proof."
Why can't we have mandatory counseling in cases like this? Instead of just a suspension and threat of jail time, why can't these kids (especially at the age of 13) be put into a program where they must meet with an adult faculty member to discuss what they did wrong and such? Why suspend them for a long period of time and threaten them with jail when they can teach them right from wrong like any _school_ should do?
Obviously, some people can take things the wrong way. I hope that in the future, schools will be a little more sensitive to things like this and not be quick to push the panic button and make it as if the kid committed murder or something.
Several current projects share some of our goals or directions.
So they too must be assimilated! Embrace, extend, extinguish baby!!

Yes! The upgrade for free that actually improves performance dramatically! Nice work...

How about filing under Chapter 51? (from Satire Wire) Maybe that's more appropriate because of the overall stupidity involved.
