I did see an oddity in Smallville recently. A major car company, not GM, advertises during the show. Most of the cars seen are from this company. Don't ask what the company is: I just do not remember it (real effective placement, heh).
But then in this episode I see Lois Lane driving a GMC-brand SUV with a big GMC logo on the grill. Later on in the same episode, the logo was actually removed from the grill, to make it a "generic" car. I sure remember the vanishing GMC logo, but not the brand that was paying for placement.
Would it be possible for a deaf person to be exempt from this CD tax?
If someone is completely deaf, it is not as if they are going to be ripping and burning for their own use. "Here. Pay this tax because you might listen to copied music on the CD."
It is impossible to steal by burning music to a CD. You need a better choice of words that have at least some connection to what you are trying to say.
I think much of the product placements in television are appropriate. Often, it makes the shows look more "real": those kids in Home Improvement would have been more likely to drink Coke or Pepsi, instead of the fakey looking generic "cola" with the Pepsi-like can they had in the show. It was distracting.
This being said, such product placements would actually detract from most games, such as fantasy games. In GTA it would improve the look: a real city would have real products on billboards. However, I don't think it would add to the "Lord of the Rings" games to have Verizon "The One Ring Tone" cell phone ads in Tengwar etched on the Ring, or Citibank emblazoned across planet surfaces in Star Trek fleet combat games.
"First off, note that to say Catholics pray to Mary, the definition being used for prayer must be "making a request" or "spiritual communication" for the statement to be true at all. Catholics do *not* worship Mary."
It is clear that in this instance, she is worshipped as a minor deity, or a demigod. Just as the Romans worshipped minor gods much less than they worshipped major gods. Merely by praying to someone/something, you are treating him/her/it as a God.
"Protestants believe that the Bible is the sole source of theological truth. The Bible itself opposes this view and points people toward the Church."
Not so new. I've seen many such trolls. This is the "Christian" who says that his sect is the only real Christians, and the rest are not. The problem with such trolls, is that unlike the typical sillly slashdot (GNAA, etc) troll, these trolls can sometimes be deadly, even in recent history.
Those in the Catholic sect are sometimes on the receiving end of Christian sect-on-sect violence. During the 1990s, Greek Orthodox Serbia invaded Roman Catholic Croatia and slaughtered many thousands of Croats for being in the wrong religion. In the northwestern United Kingdom, the Catholic minority is basically trying to crush the Protestant majority.
I won't even go into much older history, when Catholics ordered hundreds of thousands of Christians tortured and executed for "heresy" which would sometimes be no more than rejecting some of the RCC's traditions which contradicted the Bible. Not to mention what happened to non-Christians in their midst.
"The Pope has been given authority by Christ Himself..."
No more and no less than any other person. The Pope is* just a guy. The office of Pope is not anything Biblical.
(* = the past ones, and the next one and those after)
"The Bible itself opposes this view and points people toward the Church...."
....of which the Catholic organization is just one sect.
"In addition, the original protestant (Martin Luther) also originated the idea of anti-semitism"
This is so historically incorrect that it defies description. Antisemitism goes at least as far back as the Romans. There is also Mohammad (the Muslim founder) who also hated Jews and wiped out a lot of them. Both of these are prior to Martin Luther.
"The WWII holocaust might never had occured if Martin Luther had not rebelled against the Church"
Luther rebelled against one sect, not Christ's Church.
" Is protestantism worth the lives taken by WWII?
Why not ask the Pope of the time, Pius XII? "For much of the war, he maintained a public front of indifference and remained silent while German atrocities were committed".
"Censorship goes on all the time though. In the states, they can only watch the Sopranos on the air uncut over cable, in Canada we can watch it uncut on regular, good ole CTV"
They (Canada) just ban entire channels from closed-circuit systems. That is what satellite is.
" The Patriot Act plays all kinds of havoc with civil liberties as well."
Its negative effects are greatly overplayed, and end up unnoticable down here. Little reported is the fact that it still requires search warrants for all search/seisure.
"the companies have to buy programming from the US to rebroadcast here. The companies in turn lobby so they don't have to compete against the carriers they have to pay for the programming."
I'm still trying to parse that. Care for a reword?
"it is actually another example of that north american phenomenon of government by lobbying."
This would not be so bad if government had a lot less spending and regulatory power. Then the government would do less damage when lobbyists "weilded" it.
Hard to tell what you are saying, but is your meaning that "anyone knows that Americans do not love stupid humor like everyone else" must be an insecure foreigner from a lesser country?
I've heard that this movie is so bad that the audience is urged to view it from the safe distance of thirty-seven miles from the screen in a well-built lightproof bunker, only after their eyes are gouged out. The director is now rumored to be serving eternity dead for "he really pissed off some geeks" reasons.
Thse Nike boots Mario is wearing? Look at him jump over that turtle with ease! And that Nike sword? It can hew 800 orc-necks and NEVER get dull!
I kind of like the idea of a machine gun that fires little cans of Coors Silver Bullet beer. And the land-shark gun that shoots out Hyundai Tiburon's.

A two-tiered system would make it easier for someone to figure out how to disable the ads in the lower system (sort of like blocking pop-ups).

The "ESA Aiming for Martian Probe" makes it look like the ESA is sighting targets on a probe from Mars....
This is the guy who replaced Howard Hesseman on "Head of the Class", right? Howard was no comic dynamo, but Connolly was much worse than Hesseman was.
It is quite a stretch to pull the papacy out of that, and there are other just as valid interepretations that are not as self-serving.
"The Catholic Church is the *only* Church Jesus Himself founded "
This is no different from anyone in any sect saying that their sect is the only real one, and the others are not.
"Luther rebelled against the one true Church"
No, he merely rebelled against the dominant sect.
"and in doing so encouraged many false teachings."
Who taught the selling of "indulgences"? Luther's sect, or the one he broke from?
Which sect is obeying that a bishop/priest/elder "must be the husband of one wife" ? (1 Timothy 3:2)
It is clear that in this instance, she is worshipped as a minor deity, or a demigod. Just as the Romans worshipped minor gods much less than they worshipped major gods. Merely by praying to someone/something, you are treating him/her/it as a God.

But not to any one sect in particular...

Uhhh. Hi Dick. How ya doin'?'
If his wife answers, ask to borrow one of hers.

A link that shows that "Police Academy" had sequels???? Captain Obvious, you are busy today! Thakn you SO much. I had no idea!
Thanks. Now I know why "Police Academy" was such a dismal flop, and no sequels were made.
Based on the old show, Baltar has the coolest swivel chair imaginable.

Captain Obvious arrives! You are a little late this morning. Did the Obviousmobile break down or something?
My favorite scene is when the mice drop the Earth into a volcano.
The new one was a "Let's film it in all ORANGE" mess, ahd the Paul guy was even worse than Kyle McLachtalent.
