The only way the Republican party will go back to where you want it to go is if everyone like you leaves the Republican Party.
Only then, when the current version of the Republican Party loses everything, will the few Republicans left in power realize that they done messed up. Of course, by then the Democratic Party may well be covering everything the Old Republican Party used to cover, you know like all that "stuff" from Teddy Roosevelt's time and then some.
Until then, the longer you support those lunatics, by continuing to claim to be a Republican, the longer that change will be held off.
I bet your friend would like to have a fully functional normal hand back.
This technology provides the hope, that one day, in his lifetime, the technology will be available in order for him to have a replacement limb that functions exactly as his original meat grown hand functioned.
That's all the "hope" that was being talked about. Nobody said that people missing limbs are hopeless or completely incapable of adapting.
I have hope that someday Overly Politically Correct Blinded people will once again be able to open their eyes and see that not everything is as terrible and cynical as they like to make it out to be.
The Republican party does not value someone like you. Virtually everytime a Candidate appears to be someone like you, the GOP pushes them to the side and or dumps them entirely from the party. Moral and ethical behavior is not a core value in the leadership of today's Republican Party. You can thank Tom "The Hammer" Delay and many similar 'leaders' in the GOP for that course change.
What the hell would happen to all the PCs out there and users that are so reliant on MS Products that even thinking of switching causes people to break out in hives?
The "IT" Department of that company isn't doing it's job.
Fred shouldn't be capable of installing any software to create a database on any computer within his department.
At best, Fred could create an Excel Spreadsheet. Depenending upon the amount of data going into the file, the IT Department would probably hear about it sooner or later, as Excel simply cannot hold that much information without getting really wonky.
If that starts to happen, we will switch to hi-tech Rigid Airships that have far fewer fuel requirements and much greater carrying capacities. Heck, if we were using those exclusively for the past 50+ yeras, the World Trade Center tragedy wouldn't have happened the way it did. The buildings might still be standing....and only a moron is unaware of the actual problems and reason that the Hindenburg went up in flames, being that its skin was coated with what is essentially Rocket Fuel.
If they do it right, then it will sell and be happily played by many.
Star Wars Galaxies was going great, before they poorly rewrote the interface. If they had rewritten the interface properly, then I would have stuck with the game. I still did good with the changed interface, but it just wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
You don't need drinking water to use for cooling something.
There are plenty of places with water that isn't potable, thus such a system would have no problem being used in places with undrinkable, yet available, water sources.
Open Source Software developers have been working very hard for years to create interoperatibility for working within MS Networks. Just look at OpenLDAP, Samba and a number of other systems that have been written to bring *nix and MS products into a state of being capable of communicating with one another.
Microsoft has had a history of moving the goal posts, for no apparent reason other then to undermine the efforts of the OSS teams working on things like Samba, OpenLDAP and many others.
If that were to happen, why would AMD keep working with Nvidia? What would stop the (Currently fictional) AMD/ATI Corporation from makign Nvidia graphics run poorly in comparison to their own offerings?
A good number of people find ATI's offerings to be lackluster in comparison to Nvidia.
I see this as a bad thing. I like AMD's offerings, I have never liked ATI's offerings. If I get stuck with the graphics of ATI, if I want to keep using AMD, I would rather switch over to Intel and use their over-priced crap to ensure a certain "freedom" of choice and still use Nvidia Graphics chips.
We haven't had spyware problems since I instituted the common sense hardening. Nobody uses Internet Explorer for web browsing, except for reaching two or three customer sites that require IE to access their data (and only a few people use IE for that purpose alone.) Mozilla Firefox is the only browser that is acceptable on our network, since isntalling that across all Internet accessing PCs, Spyware from web browsing simply disappeared.
Our Anti-Spam/E-mail virus system is one of the best on the market. Before implementing it, I used to get hundreds of spam and virus laden emails per week. Since implementing it, I have seen maybe 3 a month get through the filters and it "catches" very few emails that need to get through.
Securing and hardening a network is very possible, you just need the right tools.
It's easier to replace a borked dll by copying it off of a same release/same patch level other Windows system, then it is to re-image a whole machine.
Re-imaging a whole machine, isntalling all the patches, all the extra software that is not part of the base image (since not all companies have exactly identicle machines and isntalls on every single desktop.) can take far longer then cleansing the spyware shit out of a PC and then replacing a few borked dlls.
Besides, if you are on a corporate environment, you shouldn't be having problems with spyware. Corporate networks are supposed to be secure from that crap, just like the corporate network I operate. Management once told me, "We don't need that si-kur-ity stuff."
Then a few machines got borked. I showed them the time it took to rebuild those machines and the associated costs. Then compared that to my hardening methods, how long that would take and how that would secure our network. Bam, problem solved.
Of course, I can't really expect more from a Windows guy, since all they seem to teach about managing Windows machines is reimaging these days.
They could have fixed the PC in a good 2 to three hourse with a liberal application of the following:
Spybot SD
Adaware...and a bootable Knoppix CD-ROM.
When the first two snag everything they can snag, reboot the PC with Knoppix and if you know what you are looking for, start deleting the spyware DLLs, hidden folders and other nastiness from the spyware makers.
Reboot the PC and things could be fine.
It has worked very well for my job of cleaning out a neighbors PC.
You see, whether or not you vote in your local primaries, you still have little choice over which candidate to run with.
The party controls who can and who can't run.
A good example of this is what the Democratic Party did to a nationally popular Iraq War Vet that was running and had a really damn good chance of winning. They pulled their support of him and even started calling his donors and telling them to stop giving the guy money and recall the money they did give him. The reason? He "threatened" the seat of another Democratic Party member who was already known as someone that toes the line.
To get real change the national party needs to get the hell out of local politics and all donations need to be collected in one central location and divied up equally to both parties and all candidates. No more Corporate control of the government.
Old school Republicans are/were all about science.
They were the stodgy blue/black suited guys always demanding the research and the science to back up claims before spending a penny on them. That's a big part of how they were fiscally conservative.
New Republicans are Religious Right sycophants and thus deny science because that is logic/reason, neither of which flies well with their "base".
Let's say you are a member of the Green Party, a fairly "radical" US Political Party.
Some members of that party committ and act of "terrorism". Now, everyone affiliated with that party is now a "terrorist". So, you quickly cut off all ties, you aren't a terrorist. You love your country and would never hurt another citizen, you just didn't like the way government was being run.
All Internet Records are looked at by the gubmint. Your name, address and other information shows up on some Green Party site. So they find out all the "Green Party" related sites you belong to and build their "secret evidence" case against you.
Two or three days later, you are rounded up, along with dozens to hundreds of other Green Party members and all of you "terrorists" are put into detention camps and held as enemy combatants.
If you don't think that could happen, you are kidding yourself.
Kotor II was released early at the demand of Lucasarts. The early release is why the game appeared half-finished and had plenty of problems. It was half-finished, Lucasarts just didn't care.
I used to think that was an extremely well known fact, since every gaming site in the known universe carried something about it. Apparently, there are still people deriding Bioware for Lucasarts not giving them time to finish the game.
It will take the entire state of Florida to be destroyed along with most of the coastal regions of the south. At that point, though, working the Kyoto protocol will be a moot point.
By the time that happens, it would take massive Carbon Dioxide reclamation systems to attempt to turn back the clock.
The only way the Republican party will go back to where you want it to go is if everyone like you leaves the Republican Party.
Only then, when the current version of the Republican Party loses everything, will the few Republicans left in power realize that they done messed up. You can't possibly be a Republican.

Potable means drinking.
You don't need drinking water to use for cooling something.
There are plenty of places with water that isn't potable, thus such a system would have no problem being used in places with undrinkable, yet available, water sources.
Are you posting from a different dimension?
Open Source Software developers have been working very hard for years to create interoperatibility for working within MS Networks. Easy or Saving Time?
I choose saving time. Easy is for slackers.

How much sophistication do you really expect in what amounts to 4 sentences that aren't even arranged in a clear paragraph?
Besides that, do you even know what sychophant means?
Your lengthier and windier post simply duplicated my simple and to the point post.

This is how it can be used:

If you don't think that could happen, you are kidding yourself.
All you need to do is go to any site that has been compromised by malicious hackers that introduce such things into a network.
Quicken's "built in" web browser will take you to "partner" sites as well as Quicken sites. Either of which could become compromised.
So, you aren't exactly "safe" by using your Windows XP machine the way you state you use it.
Run a Virus Scanner, Run an application like SpyBot or Adaware and scan that PC. You might be suprised at what you discover on your PC.
I don't know how that got marked funny...
It would have been better as...
"Soylent Rice! It's made of People!"
The laws are the problem.
If those laws weren't in place, then Free Software could actually remain free and legal.

What was that? I was busy with my three minutes hate towards Iran.
What kind of lasers do you work with?
I work with 2.5 kw Mazak Industrial Lasers.
We can light cigarettes quite easily across the 17,000+ Sq. Ft. building or burn through 3/4" Steel plate in seconds.
