Yes, but you obviously speak better English than he does -- that's great, but how did you manage that? Most likely, by practising. I speak German poorly, but that's no reason why I shouldn't continue to do so in order to improve my abilities.
I do agree with the point made by a previous poster that the editors should have corrected the spelling and grammatical errors prior to posting the submission. However, I was able to understand the article without too much effort.
OS/2 is still widely used in banking, as the underlying OS for ATM machines and elsewhere whenever uptime and reliability are of utmost importance. Personally, I haven't used it in five years, just thought I'd let you know.
China is about as marxist as my left nipple. Its politico-economic situation is a weird, bastard stepchild between military-owned capitalism, nationalism, communism and nepotism. Marxism it is not.
hm, so you guyz are saying that most developers only know 1 language? Now I'm really scared...
On the contrary, I said that from a technical point of view, that this would make sense -- horses for courses, the right tool for the job, etc. From a *management* point of view, though, it would make recruitment and replacement of staff much more difficult as the selection criteria would narrow the range of available candidates.
If it spreads in virus form, wouldn't that constitute an illegal search or wiretap? If it lands in a foreign government machine, wouldn't that constitute espionage?
This sounds like a nightmare for PHBs. What if you were to shuffle off this mortal coil, it would be difficult for them to find someone with a similar skillset to maintain those applications, would it not? On the other hand, from a technical POV, this seems eminently reasonable.
I've been working in IT for 13+ years and I quit the one job where they mandated a 60 hr week for longer than a couple of weeks at a time. I generally put in 40 - 45 hrs. You don't have to put up with this crap.
I worked for a huge IT shop (1500+ people in the department) until late 1999 and hung out with some of my co-workers quite a bit. Getting trashed is a great equalizer and having a drunken argument can get a lot of crap out of the way that otherwise wouldn't be dealt with.
"It seems to me money would be better spent getting the next-generation Internet going, for the government to fund more of the existing research and standards boards to create protocols that are invulnerable to the kinds of attacks the government seems to fear, namely massive DOS attacks. Or is there something else a 'net terrorist' could do to 'disrupt the vital flow of information'?"
For the same reason that the War on Terrorism has involved very little "hard" contribution from allies (not that they didn't want to contribute) a go-it-alone approach is more likely to accomplish this quickly. Yes, I am trolling.
Your own spell checking and proof reading could be improved.
Will the TLD .zog become available at the same time?

The guy obviously doesn't speak English as his first language, give him a break. Surely you realized this?

When I lived in Paris about eight years ago, a couple of people used this expression (in the singular)...
...considering the quality of the hardware and the games that are already available. It's a great console.
It eloped with my third nipple.
No, it's just ritalin for the whiney little hyperactive ill-informed children that are most Slashdotters.
The prez's visit to the anti-Catholic University down south. Great example there.
I think you answered your own question; The good fight stops when it's bad for business.

Thta's a broken link, perhaps Shrub reads /. and had the article removed?

You could always hide when it stops to get petrol.

Well, that could be it. That and the fact that I've mastered the art of returning from the dead.
Testify, brother!
Top class, good stuff!

Move to Saint Louis -- the market here is still relatively strong. If you're interested you can email me at yuri_gagarin@msn.com.
Yawn. You're a very stupid person.
