    Check Japan, the only drugs needing Rx are fun drugs. Everything else is on the shelf. I am sure that if you ask your mom she would tell you that many of the products in stores in the USA can be harmful if swallowed.

    How the IP shakes out seems disconected to hardware advances. On an off-topic note, I want a cellphone that switches to "handheld/portable mode, and back, whenever I move in or out of range of my landline so I can save peak$$. I know I can have calls forwarded. I also want a cellphone that has the look/feel/sound of the old Star Trek communicator.

    I've heard that in Germany it is the norm to give employees a cut of the money if their patentable idea pans out. I don't think it is required, it's just done to prevent the employees from taking their business elsewhere.

    6,031,537 "Method and apparatus for displaying a thought network form a thought's perspective" seems to be "all patent and no invention". 6,091,424 "Labeling graphical features of drawings" has some interesting ideas.

    CNN showed video taken in 1991 of Palestinians celebrating the Sadam's invasion of Kuwait. They represented this as celebrating the WTC stack-down and have never fested-up, they just stopped showning it. Why were the Pals celebrating Kuwait's invasion? Kuwaiti use their unearned wealth to treat everybody of works for them like shit.

    There was a big, maybe even cover, story all about this in Popular Science or Mech. a couple of months ago. A rocket or ballistic object with the right shape head creats a "pocket" around itself which reduces drag.

    You split the water with electricty at the source of the electricty(Bay of Fundy tidal power, bright sunny day solar, hot springs, etc.) then use the 2H to make juice at your conveiance. On a similar note, during The Great California Electricty Crisis our Gov. Grey Davis wanted the police to issue tickets to businesses that had a lot of lights on late at night. The crushingly simple fact the shortages were only during the peak late afternoon hours did not matter.

    If you tell your boss you are not giving him his computer back and he calls the cops you will go to jail. If you say you can't find it or "when I saw it was missing from my locked residence I just figured the company picked it up" your boss will withhold an inflated amount from your pay.

    I recall from "safely class" that 110V is more deadly than 220v because: 220v causes heart muscules to "clamp together" and "has enough power to blow you clear" while 110v "causes heart muscules to "tear each other apart" and "makes you stick"(you can't let go, just like in cartoons). Other:I've gotten many a tingler GFI protected curcuits so don't consider GFI to be anykind of failsafe.

    During the Kosovo air war against the Serbs the Nato forces claimed 16 tanks destroyed out of 800-900. It seems all high-tech can't tell the difference between a tank idling its deisel in a barn and a keosene lamp and some fake tank tracks leading to a barn.
