Anyone else notice how there's an Intel Retail heatsink on that baby, even though it's most definitely an Athlon? That and it's using a 125w power supply. 125w+Athlon.... heh... at least everything is onboard (speaking of which, why build such an ultimate "gaming" machine and be stuck with GF2-MX graphics??).
That or maybe it's a promise issue! Promise has a history of problems with video cards (e.g. look at some real-time video editing cards.... promise is listed as a problem child for most of them)
If that was their business plan, they wouldn't be where they are today. How many times have you heard the phrase... "the next Bill Gates"? A lot, presumeably! Why? Because he's been the smartest f*ing businessman of this century. He may use anticompetitive tactics and smash competitors, but that doesn't make him any less business-smart.
I've worked at a computer store (read: *computer* store, not some Best Buy know-nothing dept) and I've seen a LOT of hard drives either fail or come to us dead in the service department. IBM and Seagate by far have the best track record (aside from those few IBM drives that were having problems). Maxtor, while having a few more failures, has an excellent RMA dept -- it seems like you have your replacement before you even hang up the phone. Fujitsu is crap. Quantum Bigfoot....if you have any important data on one of these drives, back it up! And last but not least, Western Digital. The more recent ones look a lot like IBM drives (buyout? whats the deal?) and seem more reliable than older ones, but those older ones........ They are terrible. I'm currently running 3 Seagate Barracuda's(40gb and two 80gb's RAIDed) and my only complaint with them is the heat that they generate (did someone mention micropolis? Those things can heat a small room!) -kwishot
Although it's more circumstantial than anything, would it be possible that they wouldn't show you a losing door under certain circumstances and they would under others? Ex: Would they only show you a losing door if you had chosen the winning door, to try to "coax" you away? Have you ever tried to see them convince you to pick the *right* door? By this logic, it would be adviseable not to switch.
If you translate the commands into hex and send it as a ping it works: ping -p 2b2b2b415448300d -c 5 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
By the way, 2b2b2b415448300d = +++ATH0 The modem receives the command and doesn't even pass it up to the "higher" networking layers so it's virtually untraceable, as well.
Couldn't this potentially cause problems with log files being written? Unless you'd prefer not to have log files, but we are on the subject of security, right?
What happens when guys in IT departments get bored or "fed up" with hardware? Try hooking up common computer cables and connectors to 110vac for the purpose of destruction =) I especially like VGA killer and the "powered" hub! Check it out at http://www.fiftythree.org/etherkiller/ (I've actually had the honor of seeing these things up close, and they're every bit as cool as you'd think! =)
When XP SP1 came out - with major updates, not just bug fixes - we didn't have to pay $20.
XP SP1? Please let me know where to find this, because it's surely not on Microsoft's website!/sarcasm

Hell yeah....this stuff's cool! I'm still in the process of downloading, but I have ro-ark so far and it's totally kickass. Good job, dude! If only I lived in Texas....
The greatest for streaming. If you're looking for a good collection...a lot of the good ones have already been mentioned. Aphex Twin, Crystal Method, etc. Also there have been some pretty good soundtracks in the recent past (Matrix & Fight Club come to mind). If you don't mind stretching your definition of electronic, you could try some good industrial (older KMFDM or Stabbing Westward, for example). -kwishot

Trillian does nothing to "join" the protocols other than providing a consistent (heavily bloated) UI for them.
System Resource Usage (for a quick test): 16,308k ICQ 14,707k AIM 13,996k YAHOO
11,548k TRILLIAN
Bloat, you say? Load trillian with a nice minimalistic skin and you have something that takes up much less real estate, minus the ads, and...oh yeah...it uses less system resources than any of the others.
To clarify, Trillian supports 4 IM protocols (AIM and ICQ both use the Oscar protocol) Compared to other clients, noticibly Gaim which has support for 15 protocols, Trillian is a poor solution even for what it does.
15 protocols? WOW. Really..... WOW. Trillian advertises the fact that all of your IM clients can be condensed into one simple interface. Trillian works consistently for me, does not crash, and seems to work reliably for everyone else I've talked to. So what if Trillian doesn't support 15 protocols...it doesn't need them! If AOL decides to throw out a challenge, Trillian will (and has) change the client to comply.
Wouldn't this be more appropriate if it was posted on the Japanese Slashdot, http://slashdot.jp/? I mean, Japan isn't China, but I'm sure they'd be better at relating to that kind of environment...
According to whom? Someone from the United States, when abroad and asked where they're from, will reply "The United States" Someone from a country other than the United States (European and African countries most notably), when confirming someones nationality, will ask if they're "From America", referring to the United States. Don't even try to pull that crap, I've seen it enough to know.
Every now and then, however, an old and new media issue pops up. It's disingenuous for media gasbags to wonder why the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart from Salt Lake City gets tides of media hype while the kidnapping of 7-year-old Alexis Patterson from Milwaukee gets so little.
Do you live in Milwaukee? Have you ever been to Milwaukee? Do you realize that for the past two months (or however long she's been missing) it's been on the news almost every day in Milwaukee? There are flyers in most local businesses with her picture. There are tons of things in the paper. I've never said anything, JonKatz, about your unwarranted rantings, but this is too far. Oh, and by the way, how did you find out about Alexis Patterson? Doing an internet search about missing kids in the recent past and running across some media coverage of the story? Please...
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
I can just picture "Umm, ok" from the US Companies. India will soon realize that it's their loss...
