Pfft, you could find it right now and even during the trial. I even posted the code in my online journal. There are thousands of copies of it out there and not all the money in the world can get them pulled down.
When I saw the article title, I hoped it meant that a lot of people who got into it just for the money in the 1990's were quickly jumping ship leaving more jobs for those of us who got into programming for the sheer love of it.
But nope, that title should have read 235,000 fewer Programming *Jobs*. Very depressing numbers indeed.
Want to skip commercials? Want to NOT deal with corporate slime like DirecTV who sue people for buying smart cards even when they had no intention of using them for stealing DirecTV signals?
Want to NOT support a company who fires off legal threats at fans of the device who want to hack and extend it's capabilities?
Want to burn your shows to DVD-R/VCD and share with friends?
Want DRM free equipment?
Then you will be better off spending the extra time and money building your own device.
I'll support the musicians when they STOP supporting the RIAA.
Musicians, get your act straight and leave the RIAA enmasse and sell your music yourself. Even if they claim they still own it, tell them to go to hell. If most musicians stand firm against this, the RIAA will finally die. Leave your labels and sell the music yourself online or give it away and make money off your live performances. The sooner you stop feeding the RIAA machine, the more money you make and the happier your fans will be with you and the more sympathetic they will be to your plight.
Obviously courts and congress aren't listening. We need to speak louder. We should have civil rights era style protests over this, the DMCA and DRM, anti fair use, infinate copyright extension and such. We need consumer rights protests and we need them to be BIG. We need to picket every day in front of the RIAA and MPAA headquarters, congress and such.
We need people chaining themselves to chairs, stairrails and doors in their offices. Sit ins. Picket major events run by major labels or studios. We need to make congress people nervous when they see ordinary citizens in the streets angry over this. Only then will this even begin to change.
Well first off, your own writing leaves a bit to be desired. Just because it's a message board post isn't much of an excuse if you are complaining about education. Capitalize your I's for crying out loud.
Second off, as a teacher you are the one who must be the force for change. If they turn in eye candy, make them do it over and demand content. If the parents get upset, ask them if they want their students to learn or not.
Well ok, it looks like/. doesn't support these characters either... That or my font settings need adjusted. just imagine that last two Microsoft's.com had a collection of accents, double dots, the o with a slash through it and such.
I've had a few apps break in Panther, but nothing to cry over and anything major has been patched now.
However there is a known issue I'd like to point out to anyone who uses gaming sticks. CH Products equipment will not work with Panther at the moment. This mainly affects those of us who use the Flight Sim yoke and pedals but I wouldn't be surprised if other CH Products equipment or even other joysticks/wheels/gamepads are broken either. So do take note of that before you install Panther if you have any gaming sticks you might want to make sure they work ok in Panther first.
As it is, Apple is aware of the issue and has promised to fix it in their next OS release.
I would also like to point out the fact that the US military isn't going to like firing on citizens of the US. Especially if they have families involved in any uprising.
Yes but it shows that they are a security risk. What comes next, taking photos of the building inside and out, the people working there? Employees should respect their workplaces and their employers at least this much. Would you like it if you let someone over to your home and they took photos of your property without your permission and put them up on the web? You want employers respect, well it goes both ways, you should treat them with some respect as well.
Well, I think it was justifiable firing. He likely signed a NDA and here he goes putting up pictures of their computers on the web. Even if nothing critical was revealed, they have to enforce their NDA or people will violate it left and right. This is far more serious than a leak of a Windows beta which is already widely distributed anyway. This is taking photos of systems used for internal company buisiness. If I were his employer, I would have fired him too.
Which is to sue not just the spammers, but the companies who hire them and ban their imports to the Unites States (or whatever country you are in) to punish those overseas who may be beyond the reach of a lawsuit. The latter may be harder to enforce as I am sure there are ways around it and not enough customs agents to check everything. But it might at least have some impact on domestic companies who hire spammers. The more countries that join in, the more impact it has overseas. Companies will soon learn that using spammers costs more than it makes. Dry up the demand for spammers and the problem goes away.
First off, there is no "upgrade vs full installer" BS like Microsoft does. You get a full installer disk. However you can choose to install over top of OS X 10.2 (upgrade) or wipe the OS off and put OS X 10.3 on fresh. Or you can back up OS X 10.2 (installer does it for you) and then install OS X 10.3 fresh.
This is a major re-work of Mac OS X. I have an advance copy of the OS (don't ask me where I got it) and it is noticibly faster even on my dual 1.25 GHZ machine. I've found a few programs which won't run anymore, mostly shareware type apps, nothing major so far, but overall, things work just great! I still see a few bugs, but this is likely not the final release, hopefully they will have those stamped out.
I for one plan to buy the final version once it is out.
I'm assuming this post is a joke, but I actually have had people make this argument before. I know a guy who gets upset whenever I mention Apple about how they are the real monopoly and how I could get this for free via free BSD. Yet he gets nice and quiet when I say, "ok, I could but then I'd have no GUI unless I installed X-windows or something else. I would also be unable to run 99% of Mac software.
Some people are just clueless and nothing you can do will make them any less so.
But she never signed it. That is more the point than it being fished out of the garbage. Obviously someone either processed it unsigned, or they forged her signature, which is illegal.
If the laser uses the right frequency, such as some forms of infrared, clouds will be transparent to it.
I think this has it's best use in forms of helping a pilot who has run out of fuel. If planes move to fuel cell propulsion (There is a small fuel cell powered plane on the market now!) in the future, as they will once the technology is perfected in cars, if a pilot is running low on power, he can request a laser assist to limp to the nearest airport.

Yes you can mask your phone by making it a tinfoil hat, but you will also block all incoming calls. It's easier just to turn the damn thing off.

Well, it's already been shown that one can do TCP/IP over bongo drums.
What about control?
Want to skip commercials? Want to NOT deal with corporate slime like DirecTV who sue people for buying smart cards even when they had no intention of using them for stealing DirecTV signals?

To fly this thing would require a pilots license. People who can't pass those tests will NOT be allowed behind the wheel of this thing. Period.
Granted if they did allow it, it would at least help reduce the worlds population. Unfortunately it would do a lot of damage in the process.

I would love for the internet to go back to what it was prior to around 1995 or so when the raging ignorant masses were let on board.
Well ok, it looks like /. doesn't support these characters either... That or my font settings need adjusted. just imagine that last two Microsoft's.com had a collection of accents, double dots, the o with a slash through it and such.
After all, now they need not only worry about registering say...
c rosoft.tv
Microsoft.com
Microsoft.net
Microsoft.org
Mi
etc..
But also
Microsoft.com
Microsoft.com
Well, you get the picture.
Apple already released 10.3.1 last night, fixing the problem.
You might get taken more seriously if you didn't call people names too.

Can I register a company and then ask for money claiming I moved to Mac OS?
I can claim seven Mac OS computers right here.
I would also like to point out the fact that the US military isn't going to like firing on citizens of the US. Especially if they have families involved in any uprising.
I've already seen stuff in the store which claims to do this. It's called "Liquid solar blanket" or some such thing.
I haven't tried it myself yet, well my dad hasn't, he's the pool owner *grins*

Dunno about most companies but Cingular lets you turn off text messaging. I never use it and I turned it off when I started getting spam on it.
