How about those new non-keyboards? The ones where you just strap it over your tarsals and type away without having to worry about touching an actual keyboard? I think that combined with the fold-up screen here would be a killer machine... Oooh, especially with those HP pinhead processors...
That's funny. I bet they do the same thing to our complaints that the FTC is doing to our forwarded junk mail... uce@ftc.gov? Why not just name it "trashcan@ftc.gov" and be honest about it?:-)
and that whole distributed.net fiasco down there? I bet the defense could use this solitaire thing to better their case - how many man-hours (or more importantly, computer-hours) are spent playing solitaire (+etc.) on university-owned computers?
Why does MS always get the marketing leg up on Linux? Momentum is one thing, but it seems to me that Linux is always playing catch-up as well. Why is that so? Has Linux ever had a successful pre-emptive publicity strike against MS?
Let's face it, if Linux is always reactionary, it will never be seen as anything more than an "alternative" OS. Linux should not be an alternative to Windows. It has a niche all its own. Sure, it overlaps with a lot of Windows functionality, but it's not just "non-Windows". It's much more than that.
Has always been my solution of choice. Of course, that only takes care of half the problem. I had considered switching vents. (Hey, if it works for 10baseT...) These could reroute the air to wherever it needed to be.
I had more in mind things like harassment of private citizens, jailing of people based on bs laws like DMCA (e.g., Sklyarov), which admittedly the RIAA hasn't officially done *yet*, but I certainly won't put past them.
I don't know, does "fair use" in copyright law constitute civil liberty? Because we are sure losing that fast...
That the RIAA see their own interests as being more important than the civil liberties of their *customers*. Should this vigilante BS be responded to in kind?
I think we need to keep a very close eye on the RIAA right now. We (/. users) have the same capabilities as the US govt because of our large distributed nature. I advocate the foundation of a group to watch the RIAA. Email me if you think it's a good idea.
Oh, and check out the RIAA-watching stuff already on http://www.cryptome.org.
It is only the interface that has always bothered me with smaller and smaller computers. Has there been significant progress into wearable screens like the cool one in the commercial with the day-trader kid?
Once we have the interface down, things can be as small as we want.
There are a lot of these types of things going on right now... Kazaa is another one. A lot of what they're doing is illegal - you can't change someone else's copyright content (and web pages *are* copyrighted, at least as far as I can tell), and most of these services do change it to some degree, *for profit*. That's an important distinction.
Can't resurrect something twice.
I guess I forgot that all the religious right wants is a return to the dark ages.
Since when did being "right" turn into a dirty word?
I'm all for progress, but progress for progress' sake isn't necessarily progress at all...
Monash... This is God, Monash...
Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Hey, Noah only had to house the animals for forty days and forty nights, right? That seems like a waaaay smaller budget than these guys!
No, that was long ago. That's just all I can remember!! :-)
How 'bout this:
The integral from 0 to cabin equals the log of cabin plus c which equals houseboat...
How about those new non-keyboards? The ones where you just strap it over your tarsals and type away without having to worry about touching an actual keyboard? I think that combined with the fold-up screen here would be a killer machine... Oooh, especially with those HP pinhead processors...
That is so lame! At least use pi or e or something!!!
Always remember - the integral of e to the x equals e to the x plus c.
Write it out if you don't get it.
I don't get it... What's new about this? Dual-monitor stuff has been around for a while.
I don't think the fact that it's 2 LCDs is anything special. What did I miss?

Something to think about, anyway...
Touché! You might be right, at that...
C'mon, mod this guy up to "funny"!

Why?
There doesn't seem to be much value on putting a web page on a 2" screen.
And email? On a video camera? I think I'll pass, unless someone can come up with a really compelling reason that this truly is useful "convergence".
Good deal. I wasn't aware of the breadth of groups already out there. Still, there's room for one more, at least for the time being.

/dev/null works just as well.
