You own a cellphone, tablet, laptop?

    They got us covered.

That's why all personal portable electronics are banned from classified government spaces.

Sadly due to biology, there is much more money to be made in the newest flavor of potato chip than the newest crop of fresh carrots. Sellers sell what people want to buy; our bodies desire high calorie content to the point that far to many people are addicted to sugary, fatty, and salty foods. Then there's caffeine and smokes...

I'm sure that if Jesus had simply handed over his GodPhone to the Pharisees, they would have realized he was not a threat to them and let him go in peace. At least then they could have asked the Man upstairs using Facetime.

The "bad guys" will still find that classic abandoned warehouse across the train tracks and plot their evil in the veil of darkness. Perhaps we should require spotlights and mandatory cameras over every square inch of the planet too?

You are assuming the average Slashdotter's house is "cleaner" and quieter than the average theater. ;) This is a rather dangerous assumption at best. Not that i am implying your dwelling is in such condition by any means.

I have twin toddlers... at times I dare say, the theater is cleaner - and not for a lack of trying mind you.

I for one find myself too addicted to the crappy popcorn... must be the chemicals... as for the rest, I wait till the movie is almost done being shown in theaters so I can get into a showing with only 3 other people. ***A day later... KB6660666 is released, "fixing" a newly discovered security vulnerability - the dead giant grows a new head, and rises up again....

  15. I've long since accepted the fact that a cell phone is no different than a tracking tag. We are all animals in some giant research project. I just hope I am one of the lucky ones that gets a prize!

But sadly I feel naked without my phone... and yet I remember a time when I never owned one and being stuck in blizzard in a ditch was a much scarier thought - but I am still here. Maybe we don't need the gadgets as much as we think.

  16. I never said I supported him - you assumed that.

I did not say what he said was right, but his comments for better or worse do get people talking. In a time where political correctness silences too many voices, even a "crazy voice" may be a good thing right now.

  17. Yes, I was thinking that thought. You can't control what other people send to you, thus there is always the risk of spillage, but you would think that given the nature of the job tile, by default any official State Department email servers should be *protected* as if they were holding TS level data, as much as they can be residing on a network accredited at a lower classification level... of course this is no good if the before mentioned server is not used!

The most important thing is user training... even a lowly private in the army w/o a high school diploma is told, not to share anything that could compromise a unit over unsecured methods. It takes either a very special level of STUPID or a very high level of illegal to lead someone with her education and knowledge to do this. My vote is for illegal, she wants to keep her deeds hidden... plain and simple. No amount of security can fix the human element, but I know the government has a serious problem with security: lack of motivation (typical government employee) + lowest bidder earning contracts (poor quality products delivered) = untold problems. Seems like we are screwed on all sides.

  18. I'm pretty sure Russia (a nation ran by perfect gentlemen), will only hack when requested to do so... after all we live in a civilized age right?

Trump knows darn well Russia OWNED that server, the damage is done, he was not the one who screwed our nations security by standing up that server, or the one that used it.

His statement is for shock factor and is merely drawing attention to the fact that Hilary has still gotten away with this whole thing. It seems we must call upon our "enemies" to expose the dirty laundry of the "untouchable".

What if by exposing those emails, we discover that Hillary has in fact crossed so many lines, that there is no doubt that allowing her to be president would make hacking our governments email seem like posting a secret family chocolate chip recipe in comparison.

  19. This is why a person holding the office of Secretary of State should always use an e-mail server protected at a classified level for any official business. You never know what seemingly trivial information sent or received could be a security risk if disclosed. Perhaps Hillary's favorite LOL cat videos pose a risk to some secret CAT Intelligence Agent...
