  1. Which language? on How Do You Greet an Extraterrestrial? · · Score: 1

Shouldn't we agree on which language to greet ET in before we discuss the message? Not only will 100 different messages be confusing, but so will those messages in 100 different languages.

  2. What kind Al fan wrote this? on MTV Bleeps Filesharing Software Names In Weird Al Video · · Score: 1

Everyone knows the line goes Morpheus, Grokster, Limewire and Kazaa. Jeez, if you're gonna quote the song, get it right!

  5. How do you know? on Graphics Memory Sizes Compared: How Much Is Enough? · · Score: 1

How do you find out how much memory your card has? I have never replaced the one that came with my Packard Bell. I don't play any high end games, but am just curious as to how much I have.

  6. Another birth? on The First Smiley :-) · · Score: 1

I guess this could also be considered the start of ASCII artwork (http://www.textfiles.com/art/). I much perfer that to the faces which have seem to have gone overboard lately.

  8. What's next? on WiFi, Light Bulbs, And The FCC · · Score: 1

Cell phones, laptops and PDAs with light switches?
I would pay to see that!

  9. From a teaching point of view...... on Internet Firms Launch New Web Rating System · · Score: 3, Interesting

Coming from a future teacher I am divided on the issue of self assessment. On the one hand, students can be harder on themeselves when assessing because they know themselves better than a teacher does. They know their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the task at hand. However in every bunch you will have those few students who always give themselves an A.

    The point here?

I don't think you can rely solely on the industry to do it themselves. Especially where money is involved. Like a classroom there are mostly the good students who take it seriously, but I can tell you from experience that it only takes a few bad ones and an opportunity to corrupt the rest.

  10. A work of art on Howto Build your own Rack Cabinet · · Score: 1

The local Mac store has a rack built out of old memory chips. It compliments the couch made of old computer cases nicely.

  11. Copywrite Implications? on New DVD Recorder With 52 hours Of HDD Recording Time · · Score: 2, Insightful

I can imagine the number of bootleg movies will be up, since you can record and burn the material with the same machine. Won't hurt the movie theater industry since the movies on television have usually been out of theatres for a while, but don't you think that companies might be a little concerned about DVD sales? Just like music, why buy if you can get it for free? Or get from someone for a fraction on the cost?
