In some countries judges are elected. Having a "rubber stamper" reputation isn't going to help them be re-elected. For those who have nominated judges, the process is similar except you have to go a little higher up the political chain. In Russia, all bets are off.
Agreed. I think some Information Management folks got brained washed into thinking tags/metadata is important.
Why have information about information when you can get directly to the information itself using search tools? Tags might be fun but they're not that useful.
Thanks for helping me make up my mind about them.
Those dead trees, when exploited reasonably like they are in Canada, are a renewable resource and generate employment. They are also very useful when starting a fireplace fires.
This is no different than any other medical treatment. If you wish to limit the number of human beings on the planet do your part and 1. refuse any medical treatment and 2. don't procreate.
Well, I would say, in general, devices with solid state components have good longevity.
In terms of support, I expect it will be easier for the school to get a maintenance contract with Apple to swap a defective iPad or a broken iPad at a fixed cost than they could from a Taiwanese company with a no name product.
But they both run Windows and are both made by Microsoft hence all the confusion. Using the name Windows as a selling point for different products that don't work the same is very short sighted. Microsoft could do so much better.
There were delays in laying out the fibre but once they were shown all the pr0n they could get with 1gb, it motivated those workers to get it done quickly.
Well at least iPads have a future. As a tax payer, I see this as a wiser investment than purchasing unproved hardware made by an unproven hardware manufacturer.
I think it's fair to assume, given past efforts, that not all 10,000 changes are typos. I expect this to be a fairly important upgrade and that it will allow better compatibility. Wine is not perfect but when it works, it's extremely handy.
You can always dictate. Newer devices are pretty good at understanding what you're saying. For the rest, there's always good old full sized computer with a full size screen. In portrait mode of course.
About that Microsoft tablet, they tried to make it (but not entirely) something it can't be. Tim Cook was right when he said it was a compromised and confusing product.
The book Rare Earth dwells into the possibility we're in fact quite exceptional. I've seen plenty of debate regarding some of the statements and conclusions drawn by the authors but nonetheless, "intelligent" life seems a lot less common than expected. That being said, we're improving our "life detection" skills and it might be possible, in a few years, to actually "scan" a planet from earth and detect elements, through spectrum analysis, which point to evidence of life.
Interesting. So if one of these neutrinos hits me, will I feel it? I understand due to electroweak unification (of these very high energy neutrinos) it will cause interaction with our body.

This is just like steroids in sports. Shameful.

The way I see it, that would be the fastest man-powered vehicle but I see your point.
Running tends to get pushed as an example of pure unaided human physical performance
I never heard of it as such but it is rather evident, with swimming being even purer.
I just hope we don't have to change all our plugs and all our electrical equipment to fit the new power service from Gates.
Agreed. Since being on the list, the number of calls I get from marketing companies at supper time is practically zero.

I think you hate of Apple is showing.

Agreed. The Internet is a DARPA baby. I would say that corporations interests is what's preventing the Internet from progressing faster.

You are obviously not a republican.
Looks like Google has just as many servers. As you said, Google's are optimized.

Personally, I feel Microsoft is frustrated Google succeeded in changing the rules they worked so hard to establish.
I'll take those iPads off your hands.

BES supports iOS and Android. Doesn't look like it requires third party software.

You sadistic dad :) Just apply the patch. Make your son happy.
