    Funny thing is, even using land lines, you can get hacked. Steve Jobs and Wozniak first product was a blue-box that allowed you to make long distance phone calls for free. At least they were sticking it to the man and not to the consumers.

    I wonder, what they would be working on if they were 18yo today.

    Dude, you're probably right but it's almost inhumane to offhandedly discount any new idea presented by physics students. Sure it's a rough world out there but there are new fields of study which still are looking for answers. See new physics.

    Even those who hate Windows 8 can see there are some improvements. However, the reason to actually upgrade is less that Windows 7 sucked than Microsoft wanting you to get into not-Metro.

    During the last 10 years, there was this ghz race. Processors were built with inefficiencies (power consumption) over raw power and time to market. With the (re)birth of ARM, Intel likely came to realize that raw power might not work for everyone. So they are now engineering their flagship processors the way they should have in the first place.

    You need to make no such change in verbiage. The proposal should include to change the length of a mile to be the same length as a kilometre. Same for all other units. This way, all the cultural references can remain.

    I've heard there are problems with some LG-make screens but not everyone is running into the store for an exchange. The nice thing is Apple is exchanging them if you notice a problem. I wouldn't call it a fiasco.

    It seems virus/malware writers are doing more to help explain evolution and natural selection than we give them credit for.

    At least there's one cure once the virus is discovered: format/re-install Windows and/or use a less vulnerable OS.

    Agreed. Given how long it's taking to get the UEFI code from Microsoft, it's not surprising. Shame that hardware vendors are bending over backwards to Microsoft's wishes, not that they have much of a choice.

    Thanks for reminiscing to the toys of my youth but you're implying there is only one method or apparatus by which translucent images can be rendered. It's likely new methods were discovered since 1972. Apple's patent, which I did not read, could be novel enough to merit a patents. Great it's being reexamined but you can't dismiss simply on prior implementation.
